AVOID COLLINGWOOD AT ALL COSTS! Take into consideration all negative reviews and don’t overlook it like I did!!! Before purchasing I called them to double check everything and was mislead over the phone, which made me go for the worse option. I misunderstood the fine prints because they were not clearly written, and are also misleading. Not to mention the spelling mistakes over the emails exchanged. I purchased learner insurance for a set amount of months, passed my driving test before the policy ended and they are refusing to refund the money for the months I will not use the learner insurance (which I have no option but to cancel). I’ve lost £160. They are claiming I never spoke to one of their agents which is a lie. Why would I have bought a policy over others without having spoken to anyone? Do not recommend them in the slightest! Go for reputable insurance companies instead, cheap becomes costly and it’s not worth it! Regardless of policy you go for its clear that you will be at loss!

Took out learner insurance for my son and went for the pay monthly option. Cost was about £28 per month. He passed his test within three months so I cancelled the policy. They decided to charge me £40 cancellation fee Plus a percentage of the remaining term.Ive been charged £110 for cancelling as there are other hidden fees which they don't make obvious!!! We've now basically paid the best part of £200 for 3 months learner insurance which is absolutely disgusting and a complete rip off!! Who offers an insurance policy for provisional driver who then pass their test and have to cancel their insurance for a full drivers insurance and then charge them to do so. BE WARNED. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY THEY WILL STING YOU. You should be ashamed taking advantage of young learner drivers who have no experience in dealing with insurance. Bad company

Avoid – rip-off policy! My daughter took out learner driver insurance with Collingwood in April 2025 and was paying a monthly fee. When she passed her test, she was hit with a shocking charge — 40% of the remaining policy plus a £40 admin fee just to cancel. Absolutely disgusting! She experienced the exact same issue as others have highlighted in their reviews. This company clearly profits from hidden charges and unfair practices. Please stay well away.

The advisor I spoke to LISA THOMPSON, made renewing our insurance a breeze. Professional, helpful and very friendly. It was like chatting to an old friend 😁. I wish all advisors were like her. Thankyou.

I personally wouldn’t go with these if I’m being truthful. They cover their backs in every angle possible but doesn’t really have the understanding on if a young driver could potentially not take to learning. where a policy cost you just over a couple of hundred pounds, to get this cancelled after three weeks of the policy as your son has been panicking about driving so we have decided to try again in the future, they charge you near on the whole amount of the policy to cancel 3 weeks into it. It doesn’t matter how you try to explain and talk to the company. They’ve got everything written on their terms and conditions which yes perhaps should’ve been checked properly but I just think it’s very unfair with all the fees and charges They place on top with no goodwill gestures , understanding or anything to try and help a young new potential driver. It’s not good for future business if they want you to then come back with them when you feel you’re ready to start trying again. My nieces and nephews have since tried to go with another company who seems so much better called MyFirst and knowing how much insurance is for young drivers who are qualified these also give you the best options for that too. Just my personal opinion on Collingwood. Yes, certain things were on their terms and conditions but not helpful at all or understanding, especially if they want future business.

We cancelled policy because of ridiculous restrictions . The named driver has to have a separate registered vehicle. As the name driver was looking to sell his vehicle, we needed to change insurers. And then when we cancelled. Not only did they not refund any of the premium , they charged us 40 pounds to cancel. When given a feedback politely to customer service they tried to justify saying they are just a broker . I am not asking for justification, i am just leaving feedback. Maybe you should use a different underwriter if they have these restrictions.
