Folkestone, Bruges and Canterbury

Went on the Folkestone, Bruges & Canterbury trip. First there was a mix up of the drivers which eventually got sorted, the stops were very good al though only one at Gretna Green on the way down. The hotel was dire, desperately in need of an update, food was mediocre at best. Staff were nice and helpful. We only had 1 hour & 40 mins in Bruges so that is a wasted trip. Wouldn’t do a long trip again. Also check your hotel reviews as they don’t always use ‘nice’ ones.

I disliked that I have booked three…

I disliked that I have booked three holidays, paid fully for two and had my seat changed for the August holiday. Surely booking well in advance, which I have to do for a single room, ensures me the seat that I have paid for.

Very helpful staff

Very helpful staff. I enquired about room options and the agent contacted the hotel and rang me back as promised. The original room wasn't available but I was offered an alternative which worked out well for me.

Rhine in Flames coach holiday

I booked a trip to the Rhine in Flames. The driver dropped us off at around 17:30 at the wrong place apparently he was told the fireworks was on the Rhine but they was in a park at the other end of Bonn. We asked a passer-by how far we had to walk along the river to see the fireworks. He informed us they was not on the river and directed us to get in the underground number 66 and it would take us where we needed to be. Whilst on the underground a group of young locals told us they were going to the park the display was going to be in. When we arrived at the park at about 19:00 and found it was a rave in the park with live bands in several stages and fair rides etc. The driver had told us that when the display was finished to go back to the coach. The display was due to start at 23:30 and last for approximately one hour. Our group consisted of ten of us five pensioners three of them with disabilities and five younger people. I said if we stayed there until the fireworks display ended around 00:30 by time we would get back on the underground considering how many people was there it could be very late getting back to the coach so we decided to go back to the river where we was dropped off. We got back into the town centre and walked back to the area we was dropped off and got there at 22:50 it was overcast so we went back to the coach and found that all but four passengers was already on the coach has they also found out that the display wasn’t where we was told. The driver rang Caledonian who rang one of the missing passengers telling them to get back to the coach had the driver was waiting to leave to go back to the hotel. We left Bonn at 23:20 ten minutes before the fireworks was due to start. Obviously there was a bad atmosphere on the coach for the rest of the trip has we didn’t see the main reason we had all booked the trip for. I put in a complaint to the customer services when we arrived home and was told has a good will gesture they could gave us £100 voucher to use off our next booking with them. I was not happy with the offer but was told that’s all they could offer after all we was let down by Caledonian for not fulfilling our expectations of the trip. I have booked another trip to the Black Forest in December and put the voucher towards that.

3 if us were at llandudno grand hotel…

3 if us were at llandudno grand hotel for 5 days and it was awful, the hotel rooms were dark and dingy, the food was awful (breakfast was ok) but the meat at dinner time was dry and pork chops were like leather. The worst thing was the hotel bar had NO white wine at all for 3 days.
