What a breath of fresh air

What a breath of fresh air! Whenever I have a query or problem I never go direct to my energy supplier (British Gas Lite) I come straight to Customer Services at Black Sheep and they do all the hard work for me; they even chase the company if they don't get back within a certain time. Also, when you call Customer Service you don't get pushed from pillar to post, the person who greets you on the telephone deals with your query - again, what a breath of fresh air. I have been dealing with a very professional and courtesy lady called Malika Boostani and every time I contact her she is straight onto it and doesn't stop until the issue is resolved. My work colleague was looking to swap suppliers and I did not hesitate to recommend BSU. Well done guys, I won't be going anywhere for a long time.

Never use this company

I would give minus 10 stars if possible. They are rude, arrogant, pushy and condescending. They demand information re who you are, your role in the office, your level of responsibility and say they 'need' you to sign their permission form! When asked not to ring again they say they definitely will ring again. If they were the only energy broker in existence we would never use them. I find it hard to believe that there are still companies who haven't moved on from these very outdated attitudes. In the last 20 years most companies have moved to a model of customer service which involves politeness and good manners. The staff at this company have no concept of even the most basic manners and I can only assume that rudeness is part of their training.

I felt too much pressure to make a decision

I felt too much pressure to make a decision quickly. I can't stand the hard sell approach. I like to have time to review and consider my choices. I appreciate that utility companies only hold their prices for a certain amount of time but I run a busy company and the gas and electricity contracts are not at the top of my list of priorities, especially when they are not due to be renewed for 10 months.

They contacted my office to discuss…

They contacted my office to discuss utilities. The 'guy' on the phone was rude and inappropriate to a member of my team demanding she gave him another colleagues personal mobile number! When he was placed on hold he was chuntering under his breath to "come on, hurry up and just put me through". Rude, inappropriate and unprofessional!

Things went a bit wrong, but they turned it around

Having acquired another business, we were introduced to Black Sheep Utilities - they had arranged the commercial electricity supply for the previous owners. Initially the representative seemed helpful and friendly, but was soon very keen to sign up our service. The information he provided seemed reasonable and so we agreed to a 5 year fixed term deal with the recommended supplier. I was told that the supply would need to be managed online and that payments would be collected by direct debit. Some weeks later, I realised I'd heard nothing from Black Sheep Utilities or our new energy provider. I telephoned the original contact who said I'd hear from 'customer services' soon. To their credit, customer services DID get in touch, apologised for the lack of welcome letter and said I'd receive it by email. I explained that I still hadn't heard from the provider, nor had a direct debit been set up on our business bank account. The welcome letter arrived, though still nothing from our supplier. I emailed customer services to ask if they could provide our account number and I'd sign up online with the energy supplier directly. Heard nothing. Forwarded the email to the salesperson to ask if they could help. Nothing. After using the 'contact us' form on their website, I was contacted the very next day by Ellie in their Customer Services team. Ellie listened carefully to my complaint, explained why things had gone wrong on their end and apologised. She took ownership of the problem and whilst a full resolution is yet to be achieved, Ellie has kept me informed of progress every week. Things can always go wrong, that's normal - it's how well they're resolved that matters and I'm pleased with Black Sheep's actions here.

So far Black Sheep have been efficient…

So far Black Sheep have been efficient and responsive in managing the transfer of our account between electricity providers. We have a few more issues to resolve and i hope the service continues.

Poor information, misquoted prices and the contract was not placed despite Black Sheep insisting it was. Have switched broker and will not use them again
