Terrible vehicles

Don't let them give you a silver Opel Astra at Warsaw Airport!! The actual pickup etc went very smoothly. However, when driving out of the car park I noticed the orange engine management light was on. I stopped and told the young lady who handed me the car. She said to ignore the light as it is a factory fault and the car was fine to drive. 10 minutes into the journey I was having real problems getting the car into gear and the clutch was very "sticky". I decided that I would drop my wife and 2 young daughters off at the hotel then go back to swap the car as it really wasn't performing. However, I got to traffic lights, I was in the middle of 3 lanes of traffic. The car began to shake violently. The car would not go into gear and then completely cut out. I tried the engine 3 or 4 times but when it did start I could not force it into gear. Having 2 young kids in the car they became quite scared as we were sitting ducks. We called the emergency number, got out the car and removed all our luggage and waited for help. It took almost 2 hours for the replacement car to arrive with lots of apologies. I have since sent them an email to say how upsetting the whole experience was. However, the reply didn't even contain an apology. They actually told me that there was nothing wrong with the car and they hired it out to another customer. Can you believe that??? I hope the next customer isn't in the fast lane of the motorway when it breaksdown again, they might not be so lucky!! They're playing with lives!!

Nur mit zusätzlicher Versicherung

Das Fahrzeug wurde im April über die Fluggesellschaft gebucht und mit der Kreditkarte bezahlt. Vor Ort mussten wir die Kaution hinterlegen und die Kreditkarte war nur 5 statt wie im Kleingedruckten auf der Seite 3 hingewiesen 6 Monate gültig. Alle anderen Möglichkeiten wurden abgelehnt und uns wurden 560.- Euro für eine Zusatzversicherung aufgezwungen. Nie wurde darauf hingewiesen was eher Täuschung und Geschäftsmodell ist. Man muss auch vor Ort nochmals ein Papier ausfüllen, dieses dient eher für die Provisionbeweis der abgezockten Touristen. Auf dem Zusatzvertrag der Versicherung war bereits alles vorausgefüllt, sie wussten schon das es hier was zu holen gab. Ganz miese masche von der Swiss unterstützten Carunion

Auto Union Greece (Preveza Airport)- would definitely use again. We were told to expect someone waiting with a sign on arrival - we couldn't find him for 10 mins which sent alarm bells ringing, however on calling the office they said to walk across the road and minibus would be waiting for us, which it was. This was the only negative experience we had. The transfer to their office is 1 min away. Our car was ready and waiting , we checked over and completed paperwork and all was fine. Drop off was quick and easy. They had minibus waiting to transfer us back.

Slechtste auto verhuur ooit. Huur hier nooit een auto. De autoverhuur is slecht vindbaar. Bij aankomst hebben we een uur moeten wachten omdat de capaciteit niet op het aantal huurders berekend was. De auto die we meekregen maakte een absurd klapperend geluid dat vanuit de motorruimte kwam. AutoUnion was niet bereid naar ons toe te komen om het probleem op te lossen. In plaats daarvan hebben we een halve dag opgeofferd om terug te gaan naar autoUnion. Het mankement aan het voertuig is goed te verklaren. De verhuurder maakte een testrit waarbij hij de auto zo belachelijk ruig bestuurde dat geen auto het langer dan een jaar zou overleven. Bij het afleveren van de auto was de verhuurder zeer agressief en onbeleefd. Omdat er wat vervuiling door bezoek aan lokale stranden in de auto lag nam hij €50 euro van de borg in beslag. Aan de manier waarop dit kenbaar gemaakt werd blijkt dat dit spelletje vaker gespeeld wordt en dat ze op deze manier extra inkomsten proberen te genereren.

We have just used auto union in paphos…

We have just used auto union in paphos Cyprus and couldn't have been happier. Chris the owner was there to meet us from the airport as planned. When we got to the office we had a slight problem with the credit card and he was happy to wait until it was all sorted out. The car was absolutely fine, clean and reliable. When we returned the car he didn't even inspect it but just returned our deposit immediately. We were worried before booking a hire car online about being ripped off and we were a little cautious but didnt need to worry. We would definitely use them again. No problems at all!

Auto Union Car Rental Horror!!!

This car rental company practices false advertising. The car -a VW transporter - advertised on the website was not at all what we got, even though we had called their Athens office to confirm that we would indeed get the above mentioned vehicle. They do not even have the mentioned car in their fleet, so why advertise it and not advertise what you do have so that customers can make an informed decision . The car was in a poor condition, it was unstable on the road and would sway easily. It definitely was not roadworthy. The air conditioning was not working at all. The outside door handle broke to the side door - and we could only open from the inside. The three baby car chairs provided for us did meet safety standards by any means , unfortunately we had no choice. They were dirty and old. Lastly the staff was as so unfriendly. I would never recommend this rental company at all!!

De sætter din sikkerhed på spil! Find en anden udlejer!

Vi var på Samos og lejede en bil i en uge. Jeg har ikke erfaring med at leje en bil og tænkte ikke over at checke bilen grundigt efter. Den del er min fejl, for jeg burde ikke have accepteret bilen. Inden længe opdagede jeg at den havde 3 flade dæk! Tre!! Et hjul på 1 psi og 2 hjul med lidt inder 2 psi. Det sidste på 3 psi. Jeg vil tro, at de burde have været på 3,6 eller noget, men der var ingen info på bilen at finde. Så vi kørte ned til udlejer som 4 dage i træk ikke mødte ind til tiden. Han var mindst 1,5 time for sent på arbejde alle dage. Nå, bilen sagde også mange sjove lyde som gjorde os utrygge. Den lød som om den var ved at falde fra hinanden. Da vi talte med udlejer forklarede han at vi var i højsæson og de ikke havde tid til at gå bilerne efter. Det var en åbenlys løgn for alle deres biler var hjemme og stod ude foran og han havde Intet at lave. Og nå ja, vi er i september og alle andre fortalte at det var ved at dø helt ud. Vores sikkerhed er ikke vigtig for dem. Penge er det eneste de går op i.

I just came back from Greece 4.9.2019. We rented two cars from Autounion Athens Airport and everything worked really smoothly. Shuttle bus/van arrived after couple of minutes waiting, as informed in confirmation email and took us to their office. We had external insurance company and they didn't push (too) hard to buy their FDW Full Damage Waiver or other services. Deposit was 1200eur for 9 people carrier, as mentioned in email. Quite new cars, some minor scratches. Car inspection was made as it should be and the guy advised me to take pictures - just to be sure and to avoid any possible problems. Fuel tank wasn't full (noted on papers), it was quite tricky to fill it up to same level when returning the car. We returned cars about 5:00AM, inspection was normal and they didn't try to make us pay any existing marks or dents. Ride back to airport included without any additional fees, even at 5AM. I will use again.

Paperwork leaves customer in scammable position.

At pickup in Rhodes, they did not want to give me a copy of the document that indicates the pre-existing damage to the car. I had to insist before I was allowed to take a picture of that document. Nothing can stop them from adding damage afterwards, if they don't give you a signed copy of that document. Make sure to take pictures of your car at time of pick up and return. At rental return, they inspected the car and said everything was ok, but they don't give you a signed confirmation of that. A week after the rental the reserved amount on my creditcard is still not released. The paperwork at time of pickup and return is questionable and leaves the customer in a position where he could easily be scammed. Also, despite having booked via Cartrawler broker with a full to full fuel policy, at first I was offered a car with a half tank of gas, but to be honest, that appears to be the broker misleading the customer as autoUnion always works with a return-as-you-get-it policy. Overall autoUnion does not appear to be very trustworthy.

Reservé un coche para 11 días desde el 13/08 hasta el 24/08 de 2019 con el número de confirmación 2918180. Durante el proceso de reserva traté de encontrar una opción de seguro a todo riesgo para evitar imprevistos ya que la conducción en Marruecos puede resultar un tanto caótica y peligrosa, además de evitar dejar un depósito de 800€ ó más, experiencia que ya había vivido anteriormente con otra compañía. Según la información encontrada en su web autounion.gr (o al menos así lo entendí yo), esta opción existía. De hecho es algo habitual en muchas compañías de alquiler de coches. Como se puede intuir esto cuando llegamos allí no fue así. Las dos opciones que me daban era dejar un depósito de 800€ (aquí realizan la transacción asumiendo el cambio real en ese momento) ó dejar un depósito de 400€ y pagar un extra de 8,00€ por día sin que cubriría cristales y algo más, no sé si carrocería sino recuerdo mal. El caso es que está opción tampoco cubría todo. Esta información no recuerdo haberla leído en las condiciones publicadas en su web, o no de esta forma. Reservamos el coche entre otros motivos por su precio 236€ y pico, (tengo capturas de pantalla). En el momento de realizar la reserva nos cobraron una parte del importe, 35,52€, la otra parte nos la cobraron in situ 212,94€ en total 248,46€ cantidad que no se corresponde con el precio que publicitan, es decir mienten en su publicidad. A qué se debe la diferencia principalmente? a que cuando te cobran, lo hacen en dirhams haciendo una conversión más alta de la oficial y así ganarse una comisión extra, y es lo que ahí. Una práctica que en España es motivo de denuncia por publicidad engañosa y que evidentemente es una de las razones de esta reseña. Queríamos y reservamos un coche diésel, y nos dieron un coche sin plomo, otra cagada, ya que el sin plomo es más caro que el diesel. En la confirmación vía email se resalta en rojo que habrá alguien en la salida del aeropuerto para recogerle y llevarle hasta el coche. Nada más lejos de la realidad. Tuvimos que ir a buscarlo al parking2, situado al aire libre, a las 13:00 del mediodía, según nos indicó otra chica de otra compañía en la salida del aeropuerto. Al llegar hasta el parking un compañero de otra compañía los avisó y al acercarse a donde estábamos se llevaron un bordillo por delante que sacó una parte del alerón delantero de la carrocería, y así lo igualó con la otra parte que también estaba ya fuera. El coche tenía arañazos, estaba muy sucio por el interior, manchas en los asientos y olía algo a tabaco. En fin un despropósito de coche, pedimos su cambio y nos dijeron que no era posible. Comenzamos la negociación allí mismo, hasta que viendo los inconvenientes que estaban surgiendo y después de 10/15 minutos a pleno sol a más de 40º pedimos ir a la oficina (1 minuto de reloj en coche) a negociar las condiciones. Para colmar nuestras expectativas nos dan un coche automático (preferíamos uno manual) cuyo aire acondicionado no funciona correctamente, o al menos no enfriaba el coche, hasta el punto que preferíamos ir con las ventanas abiertas (recuerden que es agosto). En la vuelta a Marrakech solicitamos por teléfono un servicio de traslado a la ciudad, y nos dijeron que sí, pero parece que no nos entendimos bien. Cogimos un taxi que amablemente nos buscó el chico de la oficina y nos dijo el precio máximo a pagar por ir hasta la ciudad, lo cual se agradece. Conclusión: experiencia estresante y olvidable a partir de ahora. Obviamente nunca volveré a hacer una reserva con Autounion / Carflexi.

We booked our car through third party

We booked our car through third party, Zest and got additional insurance through them We were met by a friendly lady at the arrivals in a shuttle service and she then took us to the small office (2 minutes away). The car was clean and really easy to drive, we hired it for 3 days and the paperwork was completed quickly. Provided credit card for security deposit, passport and driving license (the usual). Upon returning was quick and efficient, signed a form and we were dropped back to the airport. Friendly staff and would definitely recommend. We hired the car from Chania airport in Crete.

Read before you commit.......

Having arrived back only last night (02/09/19) i felt i had to write a review based on our (and the family that came with us) experience of Autounions customer service. We arrived late on 26/08 to find only one battered, pink, Suzuki Alto in the car park, after many jokes about "I bet thats yours" i was indeed disappointed to find out that it was! Having conducted a very thorough inspection for damage, upon which every panel failed the test, even the A pillar and sills were dinted! i then turned my attention to the interior, as it was dark i failed to notice the missing trim over the boot lid and the broken passenger door arm rest, even missing that the screen wash didnt work! As it was clear they had no other cars available i had no choice but to accept what we later dubbed the "pink roller skate". On returning the vehicle i made sure to photograph every panel and was simply met with an "its fine, sign here" comment, i do hope i am not charged for any of the existing damage as to repair it all would be more than it was worth, at least 3 times over! As we are only half way through this saga, allow me to continue, as stated we were with another family, and also as stated, there were no other vehicles available, cue the manager running around to Europcar to see if they had anything spare, they didnt. He then offered them a beat up Caddy Maxi on the proviso that their allotted vehicle would be free in the morning and that they would personally deliver it to the Mabely Grand Hotel so as not to inconvenience us further, needless to say when the followng day came we didnt hear a thing. So off we went in the Maxi (it had 7 seats!) at our first destination the sliding door decided it would not close, choosing instead to live up to its name and only slide around, not ideal if you want to lock valuables in the car and even less ideal if youre the person in the seat next to it. to get us home we opted to buy a bungee strap to hold it shut, this was looped through to the front seat hand rest and back, it did the trick. As we hadnt heard from AU about the promised replacement and fearful of a language barrier we asked the hotel to contact them directly and report that the VW was now clearly unsafe, at which point they informed us that they had no other vehicle to swap it with (what had our friends paid for then?) added to this we never heard from them again! At the time of writing we are now home but our frineds are still in Zante and will be returning one unroadworthy and unsafe vehicle to AU on Thursday morning, would love to see how that goes down! Autounion - if you are unable to give your clients the vehicles that they have requested then you should be offering safe alternatives of the same or greater value, to simply fob people off with damaged and unsafe vehicles and then take no action even if an issue is reported is absolutely not acceptable, added to this the false promises of replacements when you knew you were not going to have one is tantamount to corporate fraud. We will be going back to the same hotel but rest assured we shall not be using your services in future!

Happy Customer Review

We hired a car form the Heraklion Airport branch for our 12 day holiday 19 - 30 August 2019 The paperwork was done in a small air conditioned office and was completed quickly. The person dealing with us explained everything very clearly. We were given a brand new Seat Ibiza and a very thorough check was done of the body work, so the 2 small dents already on it were identified and marked on the form. We were asked to return it with the same amount of fuel in (3/4 of a tank) I made a mistake on the return time so was late; while they were clearly concerned for the next customers due to use the car, they remained polite and helpful. They were easy to find, efficient, friendly and located in a prime position to quickly get on to the motorway. Will definitely use them again. Their prices were also very reasonable.
