Unacceptable Billing Errors by Tomato Energy

I am deeply frustrated with Tomato Energy's billing accuracy. My July 2025 bill for the period of 1 June 2025 to 30 June 2025 was calculated using an estimated meter reading, despite my submission of actual meter readings on 29 June 2025 and 30 June 2025. This resulted in a discrepancy of 158 kWh. For context, my usage last month was less than 100 kWh, making the estimate over 1.5 times my typical consumption.This inaccurate estimate has led to a potentially inflated bill, which is completely unacceptable. I urge Tomato Energy to correct the bill using my submitted readings and overhaul their billing process to prevent such errors. This experience has completely eroded my trust in their service, and I highly NOT recommend Tomato Energy as a service provider. Once my contract term ends, I will switch to another provider and advise all my friends to avoid using Tomato Energy.

Switching accounts

I read the Trustpilot reviews, which were generally very positive, but wanted to speak to Tomato Energy before taking the plunge and switching suppliers. I spoke to VJ, who was very helpful and reassuring and explained how it all works and addressed any concerns. He identified an estimated annual saving of £1,454 (to be fair, my current electricity bills are enormous) and all the necessary details were taken over the phone, with the new account becoming live at midnight in 4 days time. A very positive experience so far.

Mix up of address

Great so far!

Switched to Tomato energy was hassle free and I'm now enjoying off peak rates through the day and night. With load shifting, I'm saving money which is what I was looking for. I had a courtesy call from their customer services today asking how the switch was and the guy I spoke to was very polite. I just wish they had a decent app, as although the website is fine, it's far more clunky and inconvenient compared to an app.

Very Impressed

I phoned tomato.energy to change my energy supply to them because of the excellent price. A gentleman called VJ dealt with my various questions. He was very knowledgeable, polite and helpful. He was also friendly and made the process very easy. I hope my future dealings with this company are as good.
