Unacceptable Billing Errors by Tomato Energy

I am deeply frustrated with Tomato Energy's billing accuracy. My July 2025 bill for the period of 1 June 2025 to 30 June 2025 was calculated using an estimated meter reading, despite my submission of actual meter readings on 29 June 2025 and 30 June 2025. This resulted in a discrepancy of 158 kWh. For context, my usage last month was less than 100 kWh, making the estimate over 1.5 times my typical consumption.This inaccurate estimate has led to a potentially inflated bill, which is completely unacceptable. I urge Tomato Energy to correct the bill using my submitted readings and overhaul their billing process to prevent such errors. This experience has completely eroded my trust in their service, and I highly NOT recommend Tomato Energy as a service provider. Once my contract term ends, I will switch to another provider and advise all my friends to avoid using Tomato Energy.

Switched to them in September 2024…

Switched to them in September last year, been very happy. Took about 6 weeks to get my first bill, been saving 18-20% each month since! You pay the bill monthly unlike some where you can be £100’s of pounds in credit so the energy company is making money off your regular monthly payments.

Some bloke called Lucas fixed it

Spoke to a guy called Lucas after some poor customer experiences with Tomato Energy. Not only did the guy understand the problem, he actually fixed it on the phone! I know, right there and then. I couldn’t believe it either. He knew the export issue, figured out the different numbers. Made it all work. Proper brains and politeness in one. Had to have a drink after I got off the phone. He needs a medal.

I have been a customer for over 9…

I have been a customer for over 9 months. Tomato Energy are pure and simply a supplier of electricity which does so at very attractive rates. I have had no reason to contact them. They supply electricity, bill me and I pay. Not sure what all the fuss is about, they like my previous suppliers, supply me with electricity but at a very competitive rate. The dedicated FB Forum is a hoot!

Awful awful company.

Awful awful company. Started the switch on the 25th of February, but here we are, in May with no switch in sight. Numerous emails and phone calls to ask when the switch would be complete, finally given a date of mid April, however April has been and gone, no updates without chasing, and even when chasing, the final email I received was: "I do apologies for this happening to you, if there was more I could do I would." Complete and utter shambles.

Very helpful call with Pargat in Customer Service. Although my billing issue didn't get resolved he provided a clear explanation of why the issue arose and assurance that it would be resolved.

Tomato eats octopus

The change from Octopus to Tomato was quick and we are now making bigger savings ... I never thought that I would ever say this aloud, but I now enjoy reading an energy bill !!. I especially like the reduced tariff periods, this helps massively chargeing our electric car at night, which balances the national grid at the same time helping the consumer. We have recommended a neighbour who has also joined and making bigger savings than us.
