Review summary
Talk Home Mobile has mixed reviews from customers. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about customer service and communication.
Their new notification policy is a nightmare. I've been with them over a year. Suddenly when they take payment they text notifications overnight eg almost 1am or 7am when everyone is sleeping. Most people keep their phones open overnight eg for emergencies. Nothing gives them the right to wake us up.
Email confirmations. Don't text!! I told them last month they had woken me up. I was fuming. They assured me they would turn off notifications. They did not. This month they texted me at 12.40AM!! This is highly unethical and violates UK noise pollution laws.
Businesses cannot contact consumers outside reasonable business hours. This means 8am to 11pm.
I wish to profusely thank Talk Home staffer Mr Adam who provied excellent support through 'Chat' function on 5 July 2025. This Chat I tried after repeated failing to get anyone, even worse disconnection while trying to speak with Talk Home Mobile team. so their phone does not work but luckily chat worked and more luckily Mr Adam was fantastic. Thank you dear Adam
I have just been speaking to chatbot Joey I was concerned that the 1 penny a month for 6 months deal that I signed up for was not cancelable (is that a word?)
after the 6 month period, he assured me it can be canceled anytime hope he is right !! we will see in 6 months' time watch this space
Ahmed has good customer service. Only simple information asked and he was able to help. Now I just need to feel out the talk home app how its use and gosh! Hope I don't need to top up after a 1 week holiday. I wonder, If I can only top up only when I need it for holidays that it will not cost me anything more when not in use. Can anyone help with this question? Thanks
Best Data Package and International Calling Minutes
Best Data Package and International Calling Minutes I’ve received for £0.99!!!
The affiliate plan by Talk Home Mobile is an enticing option for those searching for a budget-friendly and flexible SIM-only deal. With a generous data allowance, unlimited calls and SMS, and competitive pricing, this plan offers a well-rounded package that delivers excellent value for money. I am delighted with my decision to switch to Talk Home Mobile.
Shocking CS - I could not understand a word the agent said. They don't speak English. They don't understand what you say to them. Shocking that such a companies are allowed to operate.
AVOID!
Company takes several days in sending out a SIM. When I got the SIM, the mobile number does not belong TalkHome but to another network. Further: I have checked my bank statement and they have been taking money out of my account three weeks ago and yet I have not received a service. I have reported them to PAYPAL and they immediately refunded me. Some really wrong here. Why would PAYPAL immediately refund me? You work it out.
Completely untrustworthy company IMO. Advertised a series of SIM-only deals with super cheap promotional periods, all saying 'no contracts'. Then a few days later, sent a generic-looking email re. changes to terms that would apply unless you cancelled in the next few days. Turns out the changes included meaning you would have to pay the higher (non-promo) rate for the remainder of the year if you cancelled early. The cherry on top was that the deals were still being advertised as 'no contract'. Days later the company sent another email saying they had backtracked because of customer feedback, but this appears to have been a planned marketing policy all along to try any trap people unsuspectingly. Could never trust again.
Edit: Talk Mobile are attempting to have negative Trust Pilot reviews removed (and some of the 5 star reviews look very samey). Yet another red flag!
Avoid.
This company is sneaky and dodgy.
They made a 3 month sim for 1p, 30day contract but then once everybody activated their sim, they changed the T&Cs so that we are forced to stay with them for 12 months and charged the full £5 a month after 3 months.
AVOID!
AVOID - Monthly subscriptions are really 12 month contracts
AVOID Monthly subscriptions unless you are happy being tied in to 12 month contract with cancellation penalties.
NOWHERE on their webpage listing Monthly packages does it mention 12 month contracts. Under the FAQ “What is a SIM-only deal?” at the bottom of the page it says “The SIM-only deal is a no-contract mobile service where you don’t have to tie yourself into a long-term mobile phone contract. You pay monthly for …”.
Having clicked on “View Plan Details” for any of the packages, NOWHERE does it mention 12 month contracts. Under Terms & Conditions it says “This is a monthly subscription contract that automatically recurs every 30 days.”
Only after clicking on the “cancellation policy” or a further “Terms & Conditions” link does it take you to the full Ts&Cs where it says “By entering into this Agreement, you commit to be a Talk Home customer for at least 12 months” and “If you choose to end this Agreement before the initial 12-month period ends, you agree to pay us a Charge equal to the cost of your plan multiplied by the number of remaining months”.
I ordered a SIM on Thursday 8th and received an order confirmation, NOWHERE did it mention 12 month contracts. As in other reviews, I received an email on Friday 9th re the updated Terms and Conditions, giving me until Tuesday 13th to cancel my subscription if I did not accept the updates. Today is Monday 12th, no SIM has arrived, I contacted TalkHome via chat and cancelled my subscription and requested a full refund under the terms of the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013. They confirmed that my subscription would be cancelled and that a refund will be processed in the next 4 to 5 working days. Time will tell.
UPDATE 13th June .....
I have been contacted by Talk Home. They state "we have cancelled your contract" (I checked, they have) and also refunded the transaction (I checked, they have not). They go on to say "We understand , the miscommunication has badly affected your experience."
My reply "You suggest my experience has been affected by “miscommunication”. I would suggest that miscommunication is an understatement, I would say “misleading” or “mis-selling”. The TalkHome home page still states “No Contracts – No more long-term contracts. Only get what you pay for with our SIM-only deals”, and under the FAQ it still states “The SIM-only deal is a no-contract mobile service where you don’t have to tie yourself into a long-term mobile phone contract. You pay monthly for cheap plans…”. If these texts are intended to relate only to “Pay as you go” rather than to “Monthly” then this is not stated anywhere. Further the Terms & Conditions for any of the monthly subscriptions still state “This is a monthly subscription contract that automatically recurs every 30 days”. As explained in my TrustPilot review it is only when following further links to “cancellation policy” or “Terms & Conditions” that it states “Monthly Plan Policy … By entering into this Agreement, you commit to be a Talk Home customer for at least 12 months. If you choose to leave early, you may have to pay some of the remaining charges” and “If you choose to end this Agreement before the initial 12-month period ends, you agree to pay us a Charge equal to the cost of your plan multiplied by the number of remaining months”.
I will provide further updates should Talk Home decline to respond to the review here in Trustpilot.
I have previously used their calling cards. Ismail sent me a free SIM card and ported over my number in 24 hours. I also got a penny contract and calling Pakistan at only 4p.
