Positive first experience with Streets Ahead
I have managed my properties myself until for quite a while now,after a previous experience with letting agents,but with a change in circumstances I thought I would try an agent again,different to the one before. After some research I decided to try Streets Ahead in East Croydon / Addiscombe,and was contacted by lettings manager Denim Islam. Since that first contact it has been a very easy process,despite a few problems caused by previous tenants,and the time of year being over Christmas/New year. Denim is very responsive to e-mails,even when not officially working,and communicating every step of the process as neccasary,including possible and recommended tenants. Maintenance and cleaning people were also sourced and used as required. A new tenant is comfortably installed in the property now,and I will be looking at using Streets Ahead team,especially Denim Islam again when another AST expires.

Avoid at all costs
Having dealt with Streets Ahead for over a year whilst renting a property that was managed by them, I cannot recommend that tenants and landlords avoid them enough. They are unprofessional, unresponsive and unhelpful. Having found the property through Streets Ahead and having a good experience, we couldn’t have known the trouble that would come from moving over to the property managing team. The property had not been cleaned in between tenants, which we raised and were ignored, we were not made aware of things like how to pay our water bill even after asking multiple times, there were things broken in the property that we were promised would be fixed but were never even looked at and the list goes on. When moving out, they tried to tell us that our notice period was much longer than it was, say that we were liable for cleaning fees (which is illegal and the property was left in a better state when we left to when we arrived) and when returning the key to the office, no one even confirmed that they had been received, even after chasing it up. The cherry on the cake was that it took 4 months for our deposit to be returned and only after we chased multiple times and had to eventually raise it with our deposit agency. We then agreed an amount to be returned through the deposit agency, to which a smaller amount was returned. Taking an unagreed amount of a deposit away is detrimental to people’s next steps. Unfortunately, we are not in a position that we can push this any further and it is clear that they are aware and preying on this. I can imagine we are not the first that they have taken advantage of and will not be the last. I can only highly advise tenants and landlords alike to avoid streets Ahead at all costs. Specifically the Croydon branch.

Having a flat to sell whilst living in Australia.
Having a flat to sell whilst living in Australia is far from difficult. However, having chosen Jola and his team of Kadeem and Jay, I was very glad that I did. They found me a buyer within a few weeks and we completed in a few months. They made the whole sale process extremely easy, were always available and responded to any questions immediately. Highly recommend Streets Ahead - Crystal Palace - Thanks so much to Jola, Kadeem and Jay.

Terrible company
If I had the opportunity to give zero stars I would. The way this company have treated me through the process of letting a property is disgusting. The communication between agents and landlords is awful. They like to pass the blame, they gave me a property in an unlawful and filthy condition and didn’t take any responsibility for this or work with me to get the works completed. They gave me false promises, on requests when viewing a property and retracted what they had promised. After back and forth disputes with a letting agent I was then handed over to management team which were completely shocking and no help. I will never use this company again and advice nobody to do this in the future. The service provided by streets ahead is horrendous and the team of letting agents are no help and have awful communication skills.

Wouldn’t recommend streets ahead to…
Wouldn’t recommend streets ahead to anyone who wants to rent. They will hand over the property in unlawful conditions such as incorrect smoke/heat alarms, live cables out of ceiling and much more. If you use this company make sure you get everything in writing before going ahead with anything as they will give you miss leading information on what you will be receiving.
