I have been with So Energy for both electricity and gas for several years now. Any time I have had a query they have been able to respond quickly and efficiently. I am now renewing with them again today.
Overall, the process was very good. I completed an online survey for the Solar, and once I agreed the very competitive quote they sent a team round to complete the survey. Once we had agreed the revised design, installation was booked. The scaffolding team were really good, an efficient safe platform was erected, even over the conservatory, and they left no mess. The installation team arrived about an hour before the panels, but they were eventually all delivered and they started the install. They worked incredibly hard in one of the hottest day of the year, and they stayed a little later to finish the job in one day. The electrician, Pedro, arrived and introduced himself, and he was very polite and competent, explaining all that he was doing and making suggestions to improve on the original installation plan (a better location for the battery array) Within two days, the system was up and running, and seems to be producing a lot of energy. The Duracell mobile app is good, but I've found that it needs to be closed and reopened sometimes as it gets a bit stuck. So far, I'm really happy - looking forward to seeing the reduced bill and the payments for the excess energy that I am sending to the grid. It would be nice if there was a So Energy mobile app to check my bills on.

I am pleased to amend my review again following a satisfactory resolution to my complaint. Therefore upgrading my initial one-star review to three stars. A dispute over exit fees, handled professionally and courteously by Will, in SO Energy's complaint team Review modified 19/08/25.
Time to renew my contract with So Energy so I reviewed their fixed price deals. Their figures for their So Dean One year tariff gave an estimated monthly cost £116. However, when I calculate the cost using the details in the tariff summary and my actual energy usage over the last year (the usage that price comparison sites would use) the true cost is £137 per month. The difference can only be explained by an asterisk next to their figures that says their calculation is based on my energy usage since joining So Energy (so not my usage over the last year).
The email we received made things much clear.
I have stayed with So Energy for about 5 years. I like the idea of green energy and competitive pricing. When I first changed to them they promised to be in the lowest 10% in pricing and would always offer their customers their lowest price available. Both these commitments are no longer offered. Also switching fees have increased from £5 to £50. I am now more cautious about their policies.
Can always contact the company either via phone or online. Prices very good for energy today plus if in credit this is taken and you can always pay extra throughout the year
