Review summary

Marriott Vacation Club receives overwhelmingly negative feedback from consumers, with many describing their experiences as deceptive and frustrating. Reviewers frequently express dissatisfaction with the sales tactics, claiming they were misled about the nature of the timeshare and pressured into purchases during presentations. Customers report feeling trapped in a system of broken promises and financial manipulation, with many stating that the promised benefits of ownership, such as booking flexibility, are illusory. While some owners appreciate the club's points system and the brand's reputation, these positives are overshadowed by complaints about poor customer service and a lack of support when issues arise. Overall, the sentiment is predominantly negative, with many urging potential buyers to avoid Marriott Vacation Club altogether.

Do not suck in the ownership

My experience is not about a specific resort but the overall ownership. I am President's level, and even though you have a "dedicated" line for the President's Level, it is a joke. Whatever you see on... See more

Never Trust MArriott Vacation Club

Purchased Marriott Encore Package for…

Purchased Marriott Encore Package for $995 in 2019 and could not use in 2020 with travelling being restricted for areas I wanted to travel. The package expired and they will not give me any kind of credit to travel anywhere. This was never explained to me when I bought the package. On top of that I had received a phone call to purchase a similar package and the person who I spoke to on the phone said that they would either give a refund or credit but they couldn't handle on their end. When I phoned the number that was given to me they outright said they don't do that. Now Marriott Hotels must suffer as I have now banned all my employees from staying at any Marriott properties from May 1, 2022 going forward. Guess what Marriott you are going to lose in the not so long run.

We Got Duped!!

As much as I hate to admit this, WE WERE DUPED by MARRIOTT VACATIONS CLUBS! Remember that company name and if you ever are going on vacation and are booking a hotel stay with the company, I am warning everyone, STAY AWAY FROM THE TIMESHARE SALES REPRESENATIVES AND DO NOT ACCEPT THEIR OFFERS FOR “DISCOUNTED PRICES” AND “SPECIAL DEALS”! They will tell you all you need to do is attend a “SHORT” presentation that turns out being over 3 hours long told and they pressure you into purchasing and they LIE!! They make all these promises and bring down the stars and describe it so great and tell you its an “investment” and that you’ll make money because you’ll be able to rent the timeshare property, but that is DAMN RIGHT LIE!!!!!! This is no investment; this is no dream; this is a NIGHTMARE that we cannot wake up from!

Marriott Vacation Club Pulse Washington DC

The Staff of the Mayflower hotel were outstanding. However, It was never made clear that the MVC Pulse in DC at the Mayflower was a separate entity from the mayflower hotel itself until after we arrived. The room was new, modern, quiet and comfortable. That said it also did not have a coffee maker, microwave or robes. Downstairs coffee was only available until 1030 AM. My wife was NOT happy (and you know the old saying). The owner update (sales presentation) was professional and we felt no pressure. The concierge (there was one for the MVC and one for the hotel) were very helpful and professional. Would have been a five star stay if not for the missing items she has come to expect at any Marriott (she is a titanium elite member so a little "spoiled" maybe).

We've been owners for 15 years and a very satisfied with our purchase. I don't treat this as an investment in the standard term. There is no profit etc., but We do have a great vacation each time we stay. We converted to points and have been very happy with the ability to stay in places other than our home resort with little trouble. Not sure why people are so upset. You listen to the presetation, pay for your purchase and then your fees. What is the problem?

Quite possibly the worst investment I have ever made. My wife and I purchased a membership/timeshare at Marriott Phuket. The resort itself is nice enough. the websites, the rip-off, the very poor customer service and borderline arrogant offers to assist with a sale of the unit - quite frankly, stay away from this!!

Poor customer services for gold elite member. They didn't address my request for late checkout. The front desk agent did not show any interest and also provided me with an apartment which was not what was requested. My family were not happy with it.

Marriott Timeshare Rip Off

I've been a (timeshare) owner for over 15 years and invariably occupy my home resort, as well as my original purchase cost I pay annual maintenance fees. My May 2020 booking was cancelled (by Marriott) as my home resort (Playa Andalucia Spain) was closed due to Covid, completely understand that. I am not able to claim any loss from insurance as although I'd bought an annual policy with Virgin in October 2019, they apparently won't pay out for timeshare! I am bitterly disappointed with Marriott. Despite being a loyal customer, there is no refund, not even partial and no offer of any alternative good will gesture ie have another week holiday at another time. I really don't think that would be too much to expect. So, if you're thinking of buying into a Marriott Timeshare my advice is don't. The measure of a company is how they treat you when things go wrong.
