Excellent location to star your road trip in Iceland, close to the airport. Thanks to Natalia for her kind welcome and very useful advices. Easy service to pick up and to drop off the car. Good choice to rent a car.

Car had only 15.000 km on the counter, so basically brandnew. Staff friendly. At arrival at 20:00 we had to wait very long for the shuttle. We called lava and they ‘were just about to call us’. After calling the shuttle was there in 10 minutes. After 10 km. the tyre-pressure warning light lit up. Stopped at gas station. Tyre at back left was only 1.8, That’s sloppy. For the rest it was all fine, we drove 4.600 km. hassle free. Response ffrom lava at questions was fast. Received weather warnings which fortunately didn’t”t apply to us, but very good that they keep you informed.

Staff were kind and helpful. I ended up returning my car late due to a road closure which made my journey difficult and was panicking about getting my flight home. The staff member on duty made reviewing my car a priority- as a result I managed to make my plane without problems. The car was very good value - car hire in Iceland can be expensive - and easy to drive. I’d strongly recommend Lava.

Everything worked as expected, collection from the airport & return was great. The car was new & worked flawlessly. Everything was as advertised, one of the best car hire experiences I've had.

Had no trouble with LAVA. Staff is very kind and professional. Appreciated the shuttle from the airport, but it's a little hard to figure out where to go. Just ask at information desk and they'll point you in the right direction. Staff made check-in/check-out very smooth.

Ci siamo trovati davvero molto bene e la società ha dimostrato una grande professionalità. Avevamo prenotato per due settimane una Nissan X-Trail ma al nostro arrivo ci hanno dato una (ancora più comoda e spaziosa) Hyundai Santa Fe in condizioni perfette (praticamente nuova). Abbiamo percorso quasi 3mila chilometri e la macchina non ha mai dato alcun problema sulle strade islandesi (asfaltate e non). Torneremo sicuramente in Islanda e (altrettanto sicuramente) ci affideremo a Lava Car Rental.

Everything was perfect organized and a good service. They even informed us about the weatherconditions and the eruption while we were on our trip.

Reasonably priced, friendly service and smooth experience. Highly recommended - definitely worth going with Lava over one of the big international car rental companies.

Easy to book. Good price. And good communication all the way. But we had a bumpy start, as no shuttle bus arrived at the airport (It was 14 o'clock in the afternoon so still in normal office hours). We waited about 25 minutes to give the bus a chance to "shuttle" between airport and rental office. But nothing happens. Then we starts to call Lavacar Rental to try to contact shuttle service. No one picks up the phone. Finally we write an email. And office replies instantly and the shuttlebus arrives af 5 minutes. Asking at the office why they do not answer phone and why shuttle bus first arrive after sending email. They do not know. But anyway. We got a almost brand new Dacia Duster 4x4 as booked. The car had just had new tires on the wheels (Could still see the sealing on the alloy wheels). But unfortunal the person who had put the new tires on did not recalibrate the pressure sensor. So we started out with a car the had yellow warning lights for puncture or check tire pressure. So our first stop was just 2 minutes after leaving office to check for pressure and reset warning. After this everything was perfect. Nice to have such a new car. We returned the car 4 o'clock in the morning. Again no shuttlebus, but this time the driver answered the phone immiediatly and got to the office within 5 minutes. He just needed to finish charging the shuttle bus. So everything worked well.

Rented a new Renault Kangoo, everything went very smoothly and it was all according to the website. Only thing that surprised me is that we were on summer tires already in may as we encountered some snow on the roads on our trip and there is a code orange snowstorm for the next 2 days.

The staff are always very helpful at Lava. I've used them 3 times now and the experience was great each time. The cars are always in good near new condition.

Booking process very easy. Good prices and very clear instructions for collecting and returning the car. All staff are very friendly and helpful.

My wife and I had a great experience with Lava Car Rental. The car itself was just what we wanted price wise and comfort wise. It was my first experience driving a plug-in hybrid and I was amazed. Great mileage and plenty of room for our over stuffed luggage. As far as the Lava staff goes, they were extremely friendly and courtesy. The facility was very clean and located a short distance from the terminal via a large shuttle van. My only regret was that I paid extra for my wife to be an additional driver, however she turned out to be the navigator and I was the full time driver, but this was my decision not Lava's. I would highly recommend Lava and I will use them again on my next trip to Iceland. Give them a try!

La verdad que todo muy bien. No es obligatoria tarjeta de crédito para alquilar. Cuando llegué al aeropuerto no tuve que esperar ni cinco minutos para que llegaran a recogerme, ya que al pedirme al número de vuelo ya sabían la hora de llegada. El coche era justo el que había reservado, no tenía ni 20.000 km, totalmente nuevo. A la hora de devolverlo fueron todo facilidades y me volvieron a llevar al aeropuerto sin ningún tipo de problema. Todo el mundo era muy agradable. Cuando vuelva a Islandia volveré a alquilar con ellos, sin ningún tipo de duda

We had a good experience with Lava Car Rental. Pick up was easy and the shuttle was exactly where described in their welcome email. Pick up and drop off processes were smooth and quick. The staff was helpful in explaining the protection plan and helping us with any questions we had. The car was clean, and we had no issues with it. We also got the daily wifi and it worked out fine. We would not hesitate to use them again.

We hired a Dacia Duster from 1st of May to 14th May 2024 and drove over 3000km. The car exactly met our needs for touring the island. We found everyone we spoke to at Lava cars very friendly and helpful, the efficient no fuss pick up from and drop off at the airport were much appreciated. Lava cars always answered telephone queries quickly. The reason the rating was not 5 star is during the trip. We had a message to add blue, this meant nothing to us, we don't normal drive a diesel car. However our phone call to Lava was answered quickly. The advice, go to the nearest garage where you will be able to buy it. It was the weekend and no garage, in Stykkisholmur, sold add blue. Fortunately whilst parked outside a local repair garage the owner saw us and took pity and sorted us out. He said the rental company should have topped it up before we left. We were only on our 3rd day. Larva car did reimburse us the cost of the add blue without fuss when we returned the car.

Generally an excellent car rental company. I only have minor complaints. - Their video which show where to find the shuttle in the airport is cut in such a way that you cannot see which exit to use. They told me they are updating it, so that might improve. - We got full insurance for peace of mind, but when you get the car, they spend a lot of time explaining all the things that are not covered. While that may be necessary for legal reasons, it is also a bit frustrating. - The key comes with a small tag that should allow you to get a fuel discount. We never figured out how that works and the discount is also very small (3 ISK) so it seems a bit pointless.
