I hate renting cars. This is the first time it's been painless - the booking, the pickup and the drop off. Shows it's possible. Why can't the big international brand car rental companies do this. Well done Iceland.

Was given a brand new Suzuki 4x4, everything was perfect with the vehicle, exactly what we needed. Service desk was excellent and shuttle service was excellent. I would have no hesitation using this rental company again. Great job everyone!

We took the small camper, for two people/9days and all was great. Has everything you need so no need bring any camping stuff with you (except maybe an italian espresso and some canned food if you want to save more money). Our car was almost brand new, so nothing to really check on it, the LavaCar team was also great. Now, a few words about the driving conditions and other cars we met on the road, you do need to be careful on gravel and bumpy roads, most of the normals cars were just smashing it on the gravel, it is not a rally car! I have quite some off roading experience, i know how to drive on bad roads, but many just hurry, punched then complain that they get flat tires. A few millimeters of extra profile on the tire will not make any difference on a side cut/ tire slip off and very little on the running surface cuts. Do check you tires for cuts, for pressure as the profile will mostly affect grip on water/snow/mud (pressure there also plays a great factor)

Very good car and excellent service, They gave very helpful information, even „just in time“ wheather warning (heavy snow storm in june 🤣). Perfect shuttle service from airport to office (3km) and back. Very friendly service people.

Overall we had an excellent experience with Lava! We were looking to rent a vehicle that could accommodate our family of 4, plus my parents and all of our luggage, and this was one of the only rental companies with a vehicle that would work at a price that wasn’t outrageous. To be fair, Iceland is expensive in general, but we were able to rent this vehicle for roughly the same cost we would have spent on bus transfers to Reykjavík. As a bonus, they upgraded our vehicle for free and even included a WiFi hotspot for us to use for the duration. The only slight issue we had was finding the shuttle to the offsite location (though I think that was on us…they did attempt to call us after our flight landed but we missed the call). Because Lava isn’t right on site as some of the other companies are, you need to plan an extra 10 min for drop off, time that is well worth the value you get by renting with this company.

So, please review your tires (both client and company) before hiring in general. Iceland is full of gravel and having tires in good condition will save you time. Apart from that the rest was correct.

Beste lezer, We hebben voor twee en halve week een Dacia Duster gehuurd bij lava carrental. Het was een oudere auto met 126.000 km op de teller; Veel deukjes en een gaatje in de voorruit. Bij het inleveren controleerde mijn man samen met iemand van kantoor de auto. ALLES IS IN ORDE! De man van kantoor wilde nog een foto maken van de kilometerstand en zou de auto gaan verzetten naar de andere kant van de parkeerplaats Toen hij terugkwam op kantoor zei hij dat het toch niet in orde was en dat ie nog een krasje op de voorruit had ontdekt. Daar moest ie 238 euro voor in rekening brengen. Hoe bijzonder dat hij het eerst oké vond en daarna iets ontdekte. Heeft hij zelf een krasje op de autoruit gezet????? Daar lijkt het wel op. Claimt lava cars twee keer een autoruit??? Er zat immers al een gaatje in. En dat was zeker weten al geclaimd bij de verzekering. We werden onder druk gedwongen om een document met schuldbekentenis te tekenen!! Op hun website vermelden zij dat als je een auto online reserveert je voor ALLE SCHADE verzekert bent ook gravel protection. We raden iedereen aan om GEEN auto te huren bij Lava Carrentals

Very simple and flexible. Customer service is very good. You might need to take their insurance since Iceland has specific events that might not be covered by your traditional insurance.

All perfect. We rented a 4x4 Dacia Duster and enjoed the car for our Road trip (2700km). We enjoed the Apple Car Play too. Received infos by crew. The only little problem, at KEF, to know Where to wait the shuttle.

Great, brand new, clean camper van with all we needed to make a great camping and driving trip in Iceland! Great service and the value was excellent. Super simple but effective van design meant we didn’t have to fuss about overly complicated systems. Loved the experience and highly recommend Lava car rental.

Very good experience with Lava Car Rental. We had a fast airport pick up, all the people working there were very nice and the car (Tesla) was good. Definitely I recommend to rent a car here.

Perfect late Airport drop in and off. We had the old model Duster during our 1 week roadtrip. Everything went smooth during the storm (wind, big snow and cold weather). Good car, only 1 imperfection the ventilation was working only on the last speed.

We just got back from a two-week road trip around Iceland. Our rental vehicle from Lava Car was excellent! We were in a brand new Dacia Duster. It performed as expected. And we received great service from Lava. They even provided weather updates when a giant snow storm hit the country.

Used Lava Car on my recent trip to tour round Iceland. The service was fast, friendly and efficient, it was the most competitive price when I booked and the Land Cruiser we hired was immaculate and seemed almost new.

Excellent to deal with and provided helpful advice on vehicle selection and driving in Iceland. Vehicle was perfect for our two week trip.
