Great experience

We found finding the shuttle bus a bit tricky despite assisting instructions. The overall hiring process was straight forward and there was no problems. When our plans had to be changed (extended the rental) this was easily catered for. One improvement we felt would be a walk through basic controls of the car as many have different navigation systems etc

It is very convenient to rent a car in this company. Staffs of this company is very professional and enthusiastic. The driver pick us up at 0:40 am from the airport and give us the keys when we arrived. However, the online system of this company is not good enough and it is not easy to finish the self-service online.

I rented a renault kangoo campervan for 2 weeks in june. Everything went smoothly: the pickup from the airport ( I received a youtube movie how to walk in the airport to the pickup place )-Smooth and reliable administrative handling and quick delivery of the desired rental car-the car was brand new as was the camping equipment-the return also went smoothly. I can recommend "Lava Car Rental" for 100%

Everything went smoothly with our car, no problems. We returned the car and were in a hurry to catch our flight home the shuttle bus driver waited for us to complete the paperwork.

The car was perfect, pick up and drop off procedures were very fast (all documents were uploaded a few days before). Great website with lots of useful information. I'd strongly recommend Lava

We rented a Hyundai Tucson 4x4 for 13 days. The car was in perfect condition with only one small dent on it (already recorded in the system). We used the car on f-roads and under heavy rain and wind conditions as well. There was absolutely no problem at all through out our journey. The airport pick up and drop off was also very convenient. The checkin and checkout was also quick. Since I had the Full Protection insurance it was even smoother. End of the journey, I had a gravel strike on the windscreen from a passing by car, so there was a impact and small crack. However, with the additional insurance it was all covered. Highly recommend Lava Car Rentals.

All went super smooth! We had a brand new car that had a small chip in the window by the time we returned it. We didn't remember if it happened during our trip but they were so nice to waive the damage.

I booked a 2022 duster for 12 days, as this was not available I was upgraded the 2023 model. That was very Nice. Pickup from airport was smooth as well. This car had Several small dents and was damaged at the rear right, which if the car is functioning(which it did) is ok for me. The staff took pictures they said and i took them to be sure as well. When we came back they told us that they saw a dent… if I had proof if one of the dents was already there, I Said that a staff member took Photo’s, but I had to proof myself that the dent was already there and they would’t check. Fortunately I had proof, So always take pictures when you get the car!

Great company, serious and punctual. The car we rented was perfect, new and took us wherever we wanted to go in Iceland. Upon our arrival we were contacted by phone to clarify where the meeting point was at the airport, even though everything was explained very well in the emails. We had all the information we needed to drive safely in Iceland, we will probably travel again in the winter and in that case we will return to Lava Car for car rental.

Shuttleservice, Anmietung, Rückgabe und Fahrzeugzustand waren OK. Nur bei der Bezahlung war das Gerät nicht in Ordnung. Es har mir die Kreditkarte gesperrt.

En este rent-a car, y en algunos otros de Islandia, si contratas online la reserva de vehículo con seguro completo o Full Protection, no te informan claramente (únicamente en "letra pequeña" de las normas y condiciones) que los daños causados solo por el viento, o por ejemplo los causados por piedras debajo del vehículo, NO están cubiertos, aunque sean totalmente imprevisibles y accidentales. Tampoco te informan del procedimiento y las cantidad (muy elevada) que te van a retener en tu tarjeta de crédito si tienes la mala suerte de sufrir alguno de estos daños. Con las condiciones climáticas y de estado de carreteras, la probabilidad de que te suceda algo es muy alta. Una mala experiencia que de haberla conocida antes, no hubiese alquilado un vehículo o lo habría hecho en al menos 2 empresas donde NO te excluían dichos daños.

Me a parecido una empresa muy responsable, todo es igual que lo que te pone en su sitio web sin lugar a error, incluso te vuelven a recalcar los posibles errores que pudieras cometer. no quiero dejar de pasar la oportunidad de felicitar a las dos chicas españolas que tienen en recepción me ayudaron en todo momento, incluso por teléfono en ruta con un pequeño problema que tuve ( son majísimas ) y agradecer a los chicos que te llevan al aeropuerto, te ayudan con las maletas, y son muy eficientes. MUCHAS GRACIAS a todos.

We were upgraded to an Eclipse Cross PHEV which really made for a more comfortable, safe 2 week trip around the island. As we had to drive in high winds, pouring rain, gravel roads, and snow it really made a difference to have this car. My only complaint is that we were given a plug in electric car, with no explanation on how it worked. The manual was in German. The mileage averaged about 30 mpg, put could have been better if we had been able to charge the battery.

Great service - shuttle location and schedule to and from the KEF airport was on-time exactly as listed on the Lava Car Rental website, the attendants at the rental office had me checked out with my van in under 15 minutes upon arrival and walked me through the different features (and answered my ridiculous number of questions) about van operation! I had my van (the cheapest, most basic Kangaroo model) for 10 days and had no mechanical or other issues, and it drove very well under stormy and windy conditions. Lava rentals also provides a handy "Driving in Iceland" guide for international travellers. Van return was nice and easy, I was in and out very quickly and made it to my departure terminal at KEF with more than enough time to spare. Go with the full-coverage insurance for peace of mind!
