This is possibly the worst service I’ve ever received from any company. On a trip to Italy our car broke down 3 hours after pick up on a journey from Milan to Lake Garda. These things happen. The car was recovered but could not be prepared. The company would only provide a replacement if we made it back to the airport (almost 3 hours away) to pick one up. They wouldn’t provide a car locally and wouldn’t pay for the journey back. We were stranded and had to rely on public transport for the rest of the trip. Before this point we were told repeatedly that they would find a replacement and call us back. They never did and we were on the phone for hours trying to get through. They have also refused to offer us a refund for the remaining rental because they will only do this in person! This is surely a scam.

Goldcar's hidden IDP condition cost me money and time. Do not use if you are from the UK

I booked a car for Sardinia with Goldcar via Holiday Autos. I booked a few weeks ahead, but when I arrived in Sardinia GoldCar told me I had to have an International Driver's Permit as UK is outside the EU. THIS IS NOT THE LAW; gov.uk says IDPs are not required in Europe as part of Brexit agreement. Holiday Autos did not know this- with their T&Cs clearly stating an IDP was not required. They offered me a refund or to rebook with another company at current rates, which would have cost an additional ~£270 for the week. I rebooked to Noleggiare via Discover Cars for cheaper, but Goldcar's unpublished conditions and Holiday Autos' mistake still cost me a further £180 and time needed to rebook. DO NOT USE GOLDCAR IF YOU ARE FROM THE UK, there are plenty of affordable other providers who don't make up unnecessary and costly conditions.

DES VOLEURS !!!!!

DES VOLEURS !!!!! Location d'une renault capture quasi neuve 2500km (aeroport de faro au portugal) A la remise des clefs l'agent fait à peine le tour du véhicule. Je constate avec lui que la voiture n'a pas de griffe particulière. Au retour pas de vérification puisque nous rendons la voiture à 4h du matin et que l'agence est encore fermé (nous déposons les clefs comme convenue dans une boîte aux lettres. 2h plus tard je reçois un mail avec une photo avec un coup insignifiant que je n'ai pas vu à la remise des clefs dans un recoin du pzre choque arrière. Je suis évidemment sur et certain que j'ai eu le véhicule comme cela. Trop tard je me suis fais arnaqué d'une partie de ma caution sans avoir un mot à dire !!!! je précise que je loue chaque année un véhicule en vacances, c'est la première fois que je me fais avoir comme un bleu !!!!

Si on pouvait mettre 0 étoile, je le ferai ! 2h30 de retard sur la prise en charge du véhicule, aucun employé disponible pour nous accompagner vérifier l'état du véhicule avant la prise en charge et jante de la voiture endommagée à notre arrivée. L'entreprise nie en bloc que le dégât constaté à notre retour était présent au départ en justifiant qu'aucun employé n'a constaté le dégât de lui-même, alors que nous avons une photo ainsi qu'une vidéo de l'état de la voiture quand nous l'avons récupéré avec le dégât visible. Nous avons fourni toutes les preuves nécessaires avec les dates/heures comme ils l'ont demandé pour nous rendre la caution, mais ils n'en tiennent pas compte et retiennent notre argent. Agence de très mauvaise foi, nous n'allons pas en rester là et payer 175 € pour un dégât que nous n'avons pas commis. Nous avons contacté une association de protection des consommateurs et monté un dossier. Nous engagerons toutes les procédures nécessaires à notre disposition et demanderons des dommages et intérêts à l'encontre de Goldcar en plus du remboursement total de la caution !

Expérience au top!

Arrivee 45 min en avance par rapport a l heure de réservation. Aucun problème pour récupérer le véhicule quasi neuf! J avais pris l option super relax avec key and go...idem aucun souci. La personne à l acceuil était agréable et avait le sourire. La restitution c est aussi bien passée. J ai reçu la confirmation de fin de contrat vierge en quelques heures seulement. Aucun supplément facturé. J espère ne pas avoir de surprise plus tard vu les avis passés. Pour le moment je suis ravie de ma location!

Estafadores

No recomiendo para nada esta empresa de alquiler de coches, te sacan el dinero y aparte muy mala atencion al cliente. Coches en muy mal estado llenos de golpes y rayaduras que ha echo otro y que luego te las cuelan a ti para quedarse con la fianza, una gran estafa, repito no recomuendo nada esta empresa y si lo haceis hacer video y fotos del coche antes de salir del parking.(almenos en Italia).

No use in reserving here, you won't know if they'll give you a car

Hello, we weren't allowed to pick up our reserved car because they claimed we did not have a valid driver's license for Spain, when in fact we do. As per the DGT website any driver's license from outside of Spain which is written in Spanish is valid ("Son válidos también para conducir en España los siguientes permisos de otros países: Permisos de países que estén redactados en castellano o vayan acompañados de una traducción oficial del mismo."). Our main driver has a driving license from Bolivia written in Spanish, which is valid according to the DGT, yet the Goldcar representative would not let us rent the car even though the reservation was already paid.

Complete FRAUD

I rented a car from Goldcar through Wizz Air at Valencia Airport on 19.03.2025 and returned at Alicante Airport, and the experience was nothing short of a nightmare. Here’s a rundown of my ordeal: 1. Initial Vehicle Issues: The first car provided was filthy and riddled with multiple scratches and damages—including a massive 30+ cm scratch on the front bumper—which was not even noted on the damage report. I refused to rent this vehicle and immediately returned the keys. 2. Subsequent Vehicle Problems: I was given a Kia Sportage that not only carried over the initial damages but had even more defects. The very first scratch I pointed out on the Kia’s front bumper is now being wrongfully claimed as new damage. 3. Inconsistent Damage Reporting: The Goldcar representative acknowledged all the damages, stating they were recorded in a damage report. However, the printed version I received was incomplete due to a printer error. He even took photos on the spot and assured me these would be attached to the main report. 4. Non-existent Accident Claim: After returning the vehicle at Alicante Airport on 22.03.2025, I received an absurd email alleging an accident that never occurred, demanding an accident report for a non-existent incident. 5. FRAUDULENT Practices: On top of all this, Goldcar unilaterally switched insurance packages, added unauthorized extra services, failed to credit my prepayment, and ultimately debited more than their final settlement stated. Their dismissive customer service response—redirecting me to the intermediary—is unacceptable. Save yourself the trouble and steer clear of Goldcar if you value transparency and fair treatment. This is a textbook example of FRAUD and deceit in the car rental industry.

Gold Car cheating clients! Be careful everyone! First with credit and debit cards! If you don’t have credit card to block the deposit they will not give you a car ! You can show them insurance and voucher with booking number from booking that don’t care , but they propose to buy their insurance for 350 euros and then they can block deposit from debit cards! Second When you book car on their web page And pay all the insurance and everything! They asking to send to them your passport and drivers license for verification! After couple of days they send you email that your documents ok Everything goes through But when you coming to airport to pick up the car they asking for driver license and you showing to them they saying that I can’t rent a car with that driver license . They said you can drive in Italy with that driver license but rent car no ! And of course they not returning the money back to you! I am not recommending to anyone this busters!!!

Une honte nous avons réservé et payé le véhicule par internet. Arrivé sur place aéroport de Rome la personne au comptoir est odieuse elle refuse de nous louer le véhicule sous prétexte que le permis est un permis de papier français. Elle me dit que c'est interdit la seule solution pour louer le véhicule était de prendre l'assurance supplémentaire à 140 € nous avons mis le plein avant de restituer le véhicule il nous facture 11, de carburant. Le véhicule n'était pas entretenu la révision était dépassée de 2500 km nous sommes tombés en panne dans Rome car les causes des batteries étaient desserrées bref une vraie honte surtout ne pas aller chez eux

What they do is, the give you a price in the booking, and you pay them, and when you come to pick up the car, the charge you ekstra for insurance and the price from 35 Euros per day goes to 100 euros per day. After that they ask you credit card to hold on 900 euros in case.. after we refuse to pay the extra 100 euros they ask they say we can not give you the car, and after you ask them to give back the money you already paid, the say we don’t have your money, you have to call the booking company. 🚨 Alert big scam‼️

Potentially life-threatening + financial fraud Unfortunately very unpleasant experience with the company - Portugal branch (Lisbon Airport gold car rental - July ´24). I've been also renting cars for years and have never been scammed in this way. I had to pay extra insurance although I had already purchased insurance online. So I paid the full deposit + tank reservation fee Of course I ended up paying many times more than was to be expected. The peculiarity of this story is that on the last day (50 km to the destination) I had a tire explosion while driving on the highway. While I was waiting for the tow service I photographed the condition of the car as well as the tires (it was only then that I took a closer look at the tires, which seemed to be screaming that they were going to explode very soon - my bad as well as of the agency who put/left such tires into circulation in general, endangering the safety of the lives of passengers and other traffic participants). After contacting their help desk, I was unable to get in touch with the agency, so I wrote to them several times, and all I could get was a generic answer about general conditions and insurance, after which no one answered. Except for the explanation and closure of the whole story, I'm still owed 700+ euros. No matter how hurt and subjective it sounded, objectively such an unprofessional way of doing business as I experienced with Gold car PT I wouldn't recommend to anyone. BR
