Review summary

Giant Food faces significant criticism from consumers, with many expressing frustration over poor customer service and unhelpful staff. While some reviewers note positive experiences with friendly employees, particularly at specific locations like the one in Haymarket, the overall sentiment is overwhelmingly negative. Customers frequently report rude service, especially at self-checkout stations, and a decline in food quality and availability. Complaints about unstocked advertised items and unresponsive staff further contribute to dissatisfaction. Despite a few positive mentions of certain stores, the prevailing view is that Giant Food has lost its reputation for quality service and products. Overall, the sentiment leans heavily towards disappointment.

Went to deli

Went to deli. 5 people working at deli counter, 3 customer waiting. Not one employee acknowledges customers. 3 were talking, 1 was roasting chickens, 1 had her back to the counter (the manager) and was cleaning the slicer. All the customers waiting were looking at each other as to what's going on. 4 of the employees made eye contact with me, then 3 left. I said 'excuse me' and the manager spun around to say "I AM BUSY". I told her it would be nice to be acknowledged. She said she didn't see me. I told her, "Well, the other 4 employees saw me." She then replies, "I don't need your attitude!" I go to customer service to complain. 3 employees there. I watch them, then they all leave. No acknowledgement. I then bang on the office door. A woman comes out and I explain that there's no one to help customers at the deli or customer service! She says she'll talk to the deli and walks away. No wonder this Giant is the shoplifters number one choice! They even stole most of the shopping carts! Bethlehen Giant on Easton Avenue.

I don't know what they are doing but…

I don't know what they are doing but deliveries are getting worse and their computer and customer service stinks at this point. I order for a business and lately it either comes much later then what I requested or half the items are not available. The computer system works half the time and after you have had to play with it to get an order in, it is disappointing that items are not available. They got rid of their 7:30 window delivery and so I have to use the 9am. Today that delivery is being delayed 2 + hours or more - still waiting. Tried to chat with customer service - they hung up on me

Contacted the Dickson City store about…

Contacted the Dickson City store about a job for my 16 yr old. They were very helpful on the phone and said to apply online and they would hire him pt time. Spent all this time applying only never to hear back. Then they complain no one wants to work so they need to hike their prices and work what little employees they have to exhaustion. Total waste of time.

Giant food prices on Instacart is…

Giant food prices on Instacart is Highway robbery. I understand giant has to pay Instacart to contract with them, but shoppers are paying that fee for them doubled. So giant is not only making money from their goods, they’re also taking advantage of people shopping with them for convenience. 17.49 for maxwell house coffee on Instacart. I went up to the store instead, where it was 12.99 and 8.49 with your bonus card. That’s just taking advantage because you can!

Selected Delivery Time Ignored

This is the 2nd time that I've chosen a time frame to have groceries delivered and Giant has chosen to deliver it in their own good time. I chose 4-6 because I need to be somewhere after 6. Now I've been told the delivery will be 6:25-6:55. Last time the excuse was because "more people want delivery". Today it's "traffic and other issues". It's simply poor management on Giant's part. Why ask when we want it delivered? Why not be honest and say "you'll get it when we are darn good and ready and we don't care a fig about your schedule".

They’ve changed. Very late delivery.

I have used giant delivery for many years, even back when it was Peapod. I’ve always had really good luck with the delivery service but recently it has changed. My last two deliveries have been very late. I’m still waiting for my delivery and it was supposed to come an hour ago. They seem to have changed their system not for the better.

Medicare Healthy Benefits

I love Giant Stores and have been shopping at Giant for many years. In the last year I have received healthy benefits from my Medicare insurance plan. This plan helps pay for groceries. I shop at the Lititz Kissel Hill store. From the very moment I used this benefit card I've had to put up with one snide remark after another from cashiers and managers alike. Examples would be, "I wish I had that card" to "It must be nice," or just a snit attitude. It's unfair, unprofessional, and uncalled for. The customers who have these benefits are old, sick, or both. And I guarantee that any of us would rather be younger, healthier, and working full time anyday over having this "benefit." I've felt humiliated, embarrased, and even shameful at times when I use this card. Recently it wasn't working and I've had to walk away from my groceries or pay out of pocket with money that was for other expenses. It was awful and the attitude I got was even more terrible. I left crying. Please train your people on proper etiquette and manners. They are being uneducated in how things are and judgmental to people who are struggling. To shame them on top of it, is irresponsible and close minded. Thank you.

Nazareth Pike, PA location associates are ROCKSTARS!

What a pleasant shopping trip to the Nazareth Pike store today. Went in for milk and my 5 point item and $70 later, purchased several great buys. No doubt, every shopping trip results in a price error and so encountered YARMA at the courtesy desk who handled my price issues with a smile and ease. What a great interaction: pleasant disposition and multi tasker who actually walked back to Dairy dept to find my cottage cheese! And add in Luis, mgr, assured me on a frozen food price and stood at courtesy desk to ensure it all transpired smoothly! THANK YOU! These 2 associates are ROCKSTARS in their positions at this location!

Do not ask for delivery if you live in an apartment.

If you live in apartment complex or something similar, beware. They do not read the delivery note and will deliver your groceries to the wrong door, even if you specify otherwise. I had to explain to my neighbor why I was taking my bagels and milk from in front of their door.

CART LOCKS

I was just at Giant in Allentown and was walking along to my car, pushing my cart, and all of a sudden my cart abruptly stopped in front of me. It hurt my hands cause I was walking along at a good speed. I was right in the middle of the road and could not budge the cart. They put a device on the carts now that you can’t go beyond a certain point. I get that they don’t want to go a mile for their carts and they don’t want their carts stolen but that hurt and it was humiliating, not to mention dangerous. This store is going to get sued by someone.

I spent $258.00 at Giant in Crofton and…

I spent $258.00 at Giant in Crofton and among my purchases were 4 “Caulipower” pizzas, giving one to my 15 y/o grandson and took the other 3 home. Sent a text to him last night to just throw his pizza away as we had just made ours and it was THE WORST pizza I’d ever had in my 71 years. He responded that he’d had a buddy over the previous Saturday and threw his away as well as it was “horrible”. I called Wegmans customer service just now and after being transferred to two different departments, was informed they could not refund my money by using my credit card. I will never step foot in another Giant nor will my daughter’s family. Too bad Izzy Cohn isn’t still in charge.

New app not working; customer service rude, does not care

Giant foods custmer service non existent. They installed a new app that is not working but when I called customer service, the rep was very rude & did not care. I explained that their new system does not retain the password & it makes me change it each time I try to go into the app & then I have to fiddle with the system with the new password I have updated the password 8 times in the past hour. This is obviously a glitch in their newly updated system. Since the rep does not care & has no clue, the issue will never get addressed as she was clearly not going to try to address it.i belong to Giant for over 50 years. This is the first time I am really giving pause to ever shopping there again. I use the mobile app constantly as I have a large familv & shop a lot. So Giant joins the countless others that do not care about their customers Giant needs to address their customer service issue. With the new app not working & rude customer service reps, business will decline. Wake up Giant.

SUGAR???

Dear GIANT Foods, there is no need to ADD large sugar crystals to the top of an already really sweet blueberry muffin. It's impossible to remove them. How'd GIANT miss the obesity & diabetes memo? Please, just STOP. Again, blueberry muffins are already sweet enough!
