We have been happy with the service over the years. However, we would still prefer a paper copy at each renewal. This should include a breakdown of the costs of what is covered.

Been with GMH for about 30yrs, still not sure what I am entitled to.In regards to travel insurance, hospitals available etc.Monthly payments have increased so much even though i have had one small claim in all that time.Disappointed.
I've (fortunately) have never had to utilise the insurance policy, but a recent phone enquiry was handled helpfully and my query was sorted out rapidly.
Note the standard reply from General & Medical to each customer (33%) who provided an average to bad response to their service. I paid for 10 months (£2,860) for my family and made one claim for a small procedure (biopsy) for which the consultant charged £240. G&M charged me the full £250 excess and declined a further procedure to alleviate pain and irritation, as it was classified "benign". I chose to cancel the policy, only to be told that I couldn't until the annual renewal date (an additional £572). Beware cheap and nasty operators; better to use the NHS or pay for specific procedures on private health as "one off" rather than wasting money on a company which has no intention of paying out.
Poor communication, failing to respond to enquiries; expensive insurance that increases on an annual basis two to three times the rate of inflation, without prior or current notice;
Not the cheapest company for health care, but they have always been very prompt and efficient on the very few occasions that I have required their assistance.

Thankfully I've not had to claim for some time, but on the occasions I have needed to claim, the process has been professional and simple. The cover was easily configured to include the items I most wanted and removing those I didn't need and this helped keep the prices reasonable.
I was attracted to G & M because of competitive rates and cover. Everything fine until time to claim. On both occasions they initially refused my claim ( one was an impacted wisdom tooth which was clearly covered) which required many phone calls and weeks of anguish to convince them that my claim was legitimate .They insisted on obtaining fifteen years medical history because they didnt believe my GP's letter confirming that my second claim was not pre existing. After 6 weeks they finally approved the claim.Their culture appears to be built upon a 'try hard to disallow all claims' DNA. I would not recommend them to anyone.
I have been insured with General &Medical for over 20 years.. I have made several claims over these years and have been impressed with how swiftly my phone calls and queries have been dealt with. I have had no problems with the paying of medical bills on my behalf . I highly recommend General & Medical .
It was a very easy process to renew my policy the staff were very helpful and friendly and were able to answer my questions and I was very glad the annual charges had hardly increased,I would always recommend your company to friends.S D’Silva
Great service, just need to be a bit quicker with emails or just calling would be better than waiting for emails and posting letters. Especially when we are waiting for a quick treatment to start early.
General&Medical responded quickly so I was able to sort out my issue with little delay. The staff were helpful and considerate. The only issue I had was with the consultant's charges as they did not conform to G&M's scale. Unfortunately I was not aware that this could be a problem and the consultant's secretary told me that other Healthcare Insurance companies were happy with the charges. It was rather embarrassing.
Competitive prices , only needed to use once got great response
The company is excellent except they abandon their loyal clients of plus twenty five years standing when you reach the age of 75 & 76 years. They should check the claim history of the clients at this age and reassess the risk factors for each client before abandoning them in their old age if the premiums are too costly then it is up to the client to resign and move to another insurance company.
The company is outstanding in the specialist field of providing healthcare support and a personal service, as a Medical Officer and a Client I can wholeheartedly recommend it.
I have medical insurance with them, when its comes to a reneiwal, they increse the price every year. But I asked them to review my insurance policy. But they said they can not do anything. They dont give money off in gyms like vitality insurance or free coffee if we reach our goal every week
I have been a member of General Medical for in the region of 30 years and have needed to claim on several occasions. During the whole of that time I have found them without exception to be helpful, professional, courteous, reliable and value for money. Quite simply i have never even though of looking elsewhere for cover.
