First Home Improvements is exceptionally well-rated by customers. Customers particularly appreciate professional and service, though some mention concerns about customer service and communication.

ridiculously long appointment full of hard sell details that is just a massive turn off. Then they quote a huge price then do the "let me talk to my manager" trick and magically the price goes down by 50% as long as I sign right now. Lol after an hour I had to ask the lady to stop the sales pitch as she wasn't going to get a sale today. She persisted. I eventually got rid of her after about 2 hours. Jeez does this ever work on people!?
Absolutely awful company from start, to still not finished, 4 years later. As others have said, poor sales tactics. Guy wouldn't leave without a singed agreement in place, so i signed a blank document which i photographed just to get him to leave at 11pm, he arrived at 6pm. This all started just before lockdown. we liked the product and eventually agreed on a price etc. We then went into lockdown and i wanted to cancel my order in the June of 2020, I was told i couldn't as they had been manufactured. They were finally installed in December 2020, manufacturing date was October 2020. so how were they manufactured in June. Turned out that the plans had been changed on my conservatory, and i wasn't made aware, but i signed off on it without realising. so i now have the conservatory i didn't want. The work done was too a really poor standard on the conservatory that i had Fensa out to investigate. Who then found problems with every window and door they installed also. I will admit some of the delay is down to me and a spinal condition i have, but i have since given them plenty of time to come up with an amenable solution. They have been back in 2024 to rectify but still didn't finish the job. They was supposed to re roof the conservatory as it was completed to a poor standard trapping water between the wooden base and GRP topcoat that will rot it out. Instead they have just fit a roof on top. I was told the remedial works would take 2 days to do. The scaffold was up for a month blocking all doors and windows around the conservatory creating a fire hazard. I couldn't get out into my back garden. I ended up demanding they took it down after another failed visit by their staff. Loads of other issues along the way too. These are the main ones. Im being told i am being difficult and not allowing them to finish. When i gave them 2 days last year and another day in late summer, that the guy never attended. The reality in my eyes is, it should have been done correctly in the first place. I am now saving up to take the company to court. Works still not finished as of May 2025, no compensation suggested by company, just passing the blame to me. Had no response from contact made, since Autumn last year. No doubt this will also be ignored. EDIT. In response to your response, I have given you multiple times, that the works could have been done. I have suggested ways to move forward. It is you who are digging your heels in and not agreeing to a resolution. I am due spinal surgery in August. Whilst i am recovering, the works can be carried in that time, as i will be home. I do not believe it should be for me to take more time off work and lose money to give you access to rectify your poor workmanship. I have worked with you giving you access within my annual leave for you to not turn up, and even took 2 days annual leave to get this rectified. I am still happy to resolve this as i have stated in multiple emails, once we have agreed a financial compensation amount. It is you that will not agree to this and states the work has to be finished first. Putting me in a weaker position. Potential customers, be very wary of this company.
We had double glazing installed by F1rst home improvements. the whole process was brilliant from the sales man to the installers. The quality and build of the windows and doors are first class. Tony crooks and Sean Rippingale, installed our windows and doors, they were punctual and courteous clean and tidy. Kept us informed how the job was going. I can definitely recommend this company.
Everything was fine although i was a bit shocked with toilet window was more plastic than window if I had known it was going to look like that I wouldn't have had it done.
Really impressed with all aspects of First Home Improvements from the initial sales rep visit to the fitting of the windows. Everyone was very professional and polite and the the team the fitted the windows were respectful of our property and completed the job quickly.
Great prices, fast installation and great quality of products and delivery
We had 10 windows installed by Tristan and Alison and honestly I cannot fault them. They were super friendly, efficent and they took real care in what they did. They cleared any mess and took real pride in the job they did! They were very respectful and treated our home like it was their own. The only reason for the 4 star is the sales pitch before hand, 4 hours later the salesman was still here!! The price originally quoted was extortionate, but after a lot of discussion and haggling, we got to the price we wanted. All in all a very good experience and would happily recommend just make sure you have 4 hours of your life to spare for the salesman at the start!
John Clarke & Kieron Ciechniak were my fitters who were professional and hard working. They left the house immaculate and explained the fitting to me. The fitting was completed in one day with minimum disruption. The noise reduction and heat retention is amazing, showing me how bad my old windows were, and wondering why I never changed them earlier. I would recommend to anyone who find themselves requiring home improvements
Having had First Home Improvements (FHI) do our front and back doors we were so impressed we pulled the trigger on getting the roofline (gutters, fascias and soffits) done as I've been putting off replacing the cast iron and the, rotten, timber for years! Bit pricier than I'd have hoped (but then again I'm tighter than a ducks bum!) but worth it. Quality job, looks spot on and is pretty much maintenance free for the rest of the time I'll be living here (Decent homes gives an expected 30 years and it is likely to last significantly longer). The Gents we had doing the work (Colin and Tony) were great; very respectful of us, the home and the pets. Cleaned up after themselves (always mess/dust with any building work), kept everything tidy and were happy to talk about what they were doing. Absolutely great tradesmen and I hope we were half as good as customers! I should say that they worked like absolute Trojans! Constantly going, not rushing but making it look effortless, like a well-oiled machine. Special mention to them moving their access equipment for overnight in order for my elderly neighbour to have easy access when he goes out for his morning paper; that is above and beyond. As the eBay cliché goes: "Would buy again". Except I won't; because I won't need to!
The installers were first class, introducing themselves & telling us in what order they would be working in the rooms. They were fast & very efficient completing the work in the time they said. Even cleaned up after they had finished. Would definately use te again.
Had a whole new set of windows and a front door fitted to the highest standard possible. The two guys, Jamie Poulton & Harry Gill, worked like pit stop mechanics - very thorough and professional and very very easy to talk to as well!
Very polite lovely people. Rob and Jordan respected our property. They both did an outstanding job courteous and respectful the whole time they where here. Left all areas clean and tidy checked we where happy before they left.We would 100% recommend them for any job.
Very pleasant and helpfull excellent service from Jade Downs when sorting my window we phoned on Monday for service under guarantee he came on Thursday to which we were very pleased with a speedy response very happy with the work
The two fitters, Charlie and Brett, were quick, efficient, tidy and, above all, friendly. New front door and side window completed in less than a morning.
I was concerned about the cost but the quality of the products is top of the range. I don't see anybody breaking in without a sledge hammer. The workmanship is good and if you're looking for security this seems to be the product. The fitter was finished in just over 4 hours-2 windows and a door. Not sure that it's enhanced energy efficiency yet I didn't much appreciate trying to 'sell' me more product. I don't have cash to burn and didn't need anything else.
They were fast and very careful. I am extremely satisfied with all the work carried out by first home improvements that I have had done. Many thanks for all your good work.
Mike Taylor arrived early and fitted my front door finishing to a high standard! We are very happy looks really nice with the other new windows and back door. Thank you! Our other 5 windows and back sliding doors were fitted efficiently over 2 days by Liam and Dan! This is the first time we have used First and all installers were clean and the windows look amazing! We have a slight issue with one of our main bedroom windows but I was made aware and first now re-ordering another window to be fitted soon and I do not need to pay until it is rectified! Excellent customer service and clean efficient fitters!
Irene Smith This is the second time we have used this company. Last time it was for new windows this time it was for the barge bards and soffits. Colin and Tony were polite and efficient and worked well together as a team. They were more than happy to answer any questions we had during the two days they were here. They did an excellent job and cleared up each day they were here. We are delighted with the result. We would be happy to recommend this company.
Really pleased with our new windows and back door. They look lovely and have eliminated draughts and noise - living on a bus route this is great. Ben and John fitted them and they were efficient, very polite and friendly explaining the process along the way which really helped. Any mess/dust was quickly cleaned up very efficiently. Windows are a massive investment but our experience with the whole company and fitters was a positive one
