Solar PV - Poor post-installation support
Having previously had a very positive experience with EcoPlex when they installed an EV charger, I decided to go with them again for a Solar PV installation.
From the outset, EcoPlex were responsive, friendly and professional. One of their Sales representatives came over and went through what I was looking for, and quickly came up with a system that exactly suited my needs. They quoted a 3 week lead time before installation, but demonstrated flexibility by offering me an installation slot at short notice due to a cancellation.
The installation day itself was great; they had the system installed in no time. As with the EV charger, the electrical installation was exceptionally neat. The roofers were brilliant; I requested an additional panel on the day which they sourced and fitted. A very satisfied customer at the end of Day 1.
And then it rained.
During installation one of the roof tiles had been broken; which manifested itself as an ever growing brown patch on a bedroom ceiling. When I called them about this they committed to send the team around the following week to look at the issue. I had to push them to get a team around quicker - they did send a team two days later to fix the tile.
It was around this time that I also noticed one set of panels were not performing anywhere near how they should.
When EcoPlex gave me a courtesy call a few weeks later and asked whether I was happy with the installation, I mentioned the ceiling damage and poor performing panels. They committed to send someone around to look at the damage, which happened. I was told they would get a decorator in to repaint the ceiling.
Then - nothing. After a series of calls, texts and emails over the last 3 months EcoPlex finally came good on the damage to the ceiling and gave me a partial refund to go towards the cost of having the ceiling redecorated.
They have committed to send a roofing team to look at the poor performing panels. Three months on from the initial installation, I don't have a fully functioning system. I'm still waiting for the visit.
I don't believe EcoPlex to be one of those companies that don't want to know your issues post installation; I suspect they are simply too busy with other installations to have the bandwidth / resource to deal with such things.
In summary - if you choose EcoPlex for a Solar PV installation, and there are no issues, I have no doubt you will be delighted.
If you do have issues however, you could find yourself waiting in vain for resolution.
