Review summary
Dyson Energy Services has mixed reviews from customers. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about communication and customer service.
Had cavity wall insulation done. I was quite sceptical and worried about it, I asked Dyson to come out couple of times and double check everything and they did. Had to put it on hold for a bit as well, they were OK with it and resumed the process when I was ready. Had few bumps with appointments and installation, but nothing major and they returned to fix quickly. All the service was free under British scheme.
Since January 25 I have had several visits from surveyors, assessors, you name it, one of them couldn't find the damp proof course, each time drilling several deep holes in my exterior walls and leaving them exposed to winter the weather conditions. Only to be advised 3 months later that they are unable to go ahead with the insulation, and that they won't fill my holes with mortar back to the same condition prior to drilling. I am now faced with costs to put this right which I will be sending to Dyson.
Absolute joke. Cavity wall insulation intentionally incomplete at upper parts of house " cos they don't do it"
Absolutely rude.
After I advised them I would make a complaint instead of infilling the big extraction holes properly, they stuffed it with roofing membrane and patched over with cement on very top of surface.
Absolute joke
I’ve just wrote a long review, then decided to delete it. The amount of issues, I’d need to write a book. Let me just summarise. I wanted cavity wall insulation under the government scheme. All I got was damage, lies, abuse, left waiting around for no show visits, promised calls/emails, oh and most importantly I didn’t even get the cavity wall insulation, even though it had taken 13 months just to get the “surveyor” on site. You can always tell a cowboy operation, if you ask a couple of important questions, so as not to have your property ruined, they all of a sudden make up fabricated reasons not to do the job. Go figure.
What a joke of a company, immediately i replied to kate with all the information she requested, still had no call despite kate and two other people requesting the manager to call me weeks ago. STAY AWAY FROM THIS AWFUL AWFUL COMPANY. DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR
Dyson booked me into for fans, Bluetooth on the radiators and loft insulation, this was after i had to chase them.with three phonecalls. They didn't explain they didn't do all the work and they sub it out. The fan fitters came, we asked about the radiators they said it wasn't on their job list, they will probably get an electrician to come with the loft fitters. We got up at 7am and by 10am the fitters hadnt arrived when they were booked for 8-9 arrival. I called dyson and they had them in for the following day, i was told the wrong day when i called to confirm, easy mistake so i rebooked. I asked about the Bluetooth for the radiators and they checked, yes its down to be done it should of been done by fan fitters. I called the fan fittering company back, booked in for Tuesday after 3 o clock. We waited in all day, got a text and a phonecall at 3.15 saying they would be about 4.45/5 i said thats ok. I missed a call at 3.45 and a text at 3.51 saying they are going to have ro reschedule as they are 2/3 short. I called stacey who had booked me in, after speaking to the fitters she said the property before us had given the incorrect number so they use my allocation on their job then cancelled me last minute. I was extremely upset, and as i had over estimated they actually had 5 extra for my job, if they had bothered to turn up when they arranged they would of know this and another day wouldnt of been wasted especially when it should of been done two weeks earlier on the 1st fitting day. I called dyson andi treid to speak but an extremely rude woman would not listen to me, kept saying we will rebook in you despite me saying i am not wasting another day waiting for a company who lets you down last minute. Dyson did not tell me the job was subbed out and dine two different companies, in total thats four days for a job i was told would be one day. Woman kept talking over me, wouldn't listen when i said stacey had already emailed and asked dyson to call me, and then she said we are getting nowhere ill get the manager to call you. That was last Wednesday, six days ago and no contact as they have already been paid they dont care about their customers. An awful company to deal with and no customer care. Please be aware before you contemplating using them i would very strongly say stay away unless you like chasing companies and getting nowhere. It would be a zero star but you have to tick at least one.
Wow, what an extremely impressive company.
I have experienced first class service from the Admin staff, site engineer, the electrician and the loft insulation team. Every member of staff was informative, efficient and extremely professional (& clean and tidy!)
Would not hesitate to recommend, and would also like to say " thank you very much" for making a huge difference,
Dyson was doing cavity wall on next door, and needed to come on our property, foreman came round and asked for permission, they was friendly and polite, they tidied up after themselves, I was cheeky and asked if they could get grass out of my guttering while they were up the ladders, they obliged thankyou Mathew and Travis 👍
Appalling customer satisfaction and disorganisation
The company needs some serious adjustment with management , organisation and the third party workers. Not only have they wasted everybodies time but they have delayed , changed dates , missed appointments and in the end left no other reason but to cancel the services.
Excuses after excuses from vans breaking down , changing appointments and then not changing them in system. Not knowing what days available for the clients perspective.
Not worth trying to get this sorted as its a waste of time.
The firm needs a serious investigation Into customer relation and satisfaction as it has put our lack of trust on them.
Where do I start?, Well I first had a survey from this company thanks to East Lindsey Distric Councils grant scheme for those on low incomes & without mains gas. The survey was on or around September 2022, after two previous survey by other contractors to look and see what could be done. After having reccomended loft insulation (we don't have a loft, it's converted to a bedroom and the roof is fully insulated with Celotex then plywood in the access spaces and platerboard in the bedroom itself) they eventually decided solar would be a good option.
When Dysons surveyor came along in January he was offhand and left our loft access panels and the access doors unsecured in spite of my showing him how to remove and replace them - simple, undo slide bolt, open door, push out insulation panel then remove and replace when done.
Having then seen that between all roof joists there was plywood panelling over (under) Celotex insulation board between each he nearly did the 'don't know if I can survey this suck of teeth' - I suggested he unscrew a panel to verify the condition of the joists but that was clearly beyond him. Bearing in mind our property had already been subject to a complete refurbishment with cavity wall and roof insulation so none of the foregoing should be at all unusual to a proffesional operation.
Fast forward 6 months to June '23 and I received a call from East Lindsey D.C., asking if I was happy with the installation. Installation, I asked, what installation?
Apparently Dyson had not informed ELDC of any problems, and the last ELDC heard was approval for a scissor lift had been requested by Dyson - surely a fairly ususal request for roof access. However, the young lady who called me assured me that they had heard nothing else from Dyson and that she would look into the matter and find out what happened. I asked if Dyson had charged ELDC for the work already but as this was 'confidential commercial information' (our taxes, commercial?) she was unable to confirm or deny.
A week later I had a telephone call from possibly a junior office lady from Dyson who apologised on behalf of them profusely and explained that they had never had the scissor lift approved by ELDC and in any case the 'roof membrane integrity' would likely be compromised by the installation of the solar panels.
When I questioned her on this she clearly had no idea whatsoever about standard slate over joist construction with black bitumenised membrane between, this being surely one of the most common types of roof in the UK, and was clearly out of her depth.
I would seriously advise anyone having solar panels installed not to use this company as they are clearly unable to deal with anything slightly out of the ordinary (our plywood inner panels holding up the Celotex), and deputise their least qualified people to explain things when they screw up (Not communicating with the client ELDC., myself).
What a shower. It seems that others have had many unsatisfactory experiences so be warned and DON'T USE DYSON.
PS: No stars was not and option so I had to award one which they aren't worth.
Needs better van drivers... had one push me into the side of roundabout this morning. I then proceeded to signal the driver down by beeping and flashing lights. He then proceeds to drive for another mile before stopping (had a million chances to stop) (even then it looks like he was stopping for a job in that street rather than stopping cause I kept beeping and flashing my lights at him. Scuffed up my alloys by pushing me into the round about and he didn't have a care in the world. He knew the whole time that I was trying to get him to stop. To put it into context. The roundabout had two lanes, I was in the right and indicating and turning right. He was in the left and going straight on. He proceeded to cut across the middle of the roundabout whilst I was along side him forcing me into the side of the roundabout. YC72 KKP was the number plate. Happened at 6:30am on 31st May.
Dyson installed cavity wall insulation for us and it made a big difference, reducing our gas usage by almost 50% overnight.
The process went well, with the surveyor coming round, getting and accepting a quote, then the installation guys coming, then getting the warranty paperwork.
Would use again.
Cavity wall insulation treatment has been taking place this week where my mum lives in Wakefield. She has dementia and got upset with the noise and locked herself out. Michael looked after her and managed to contact me. He waited with her until I got there. He’s a credit to your company. Very kind and considerate. Your whole crew were very hard working in what is a tough job. I couldn’t do it and I wouldn’t want to. I hope they have a great weekend.
Two surveyors came out. Quite frankly, it looked like they were on speed. They were clearly trying to get a survey done as soon as was humanly possible. Minutes cost money after all. They offered no solutions and gave what may seem like perfectly reasonable solutions. However, I will let you decide. - apparently modern solar panels cannot cope with some winter shade, that my stone cladded walls did not contain a cavity and that internal insulation would leave me with a £5k re-plastering bill as they simply screw up the boards and leave it like that. They gave me friendly advice on buying insulation for my loft and ceiling though so all good, Like all of these council approved contractors, they seem hell bent on funnelling grants, blaming the government whenever the solution is not profitable (ie not easy) and often providing shonky workmanship. I didn't have any work done, but looking at the amount of 1 star ratings, I feel I had a lucky escape.
