Dexters Estate Agents receives consistently positive reviews. Customers particularly appreciate service and professional, though some mention concerns about communication and customer service.
Renting out your home of over 14 years is never easy, logistically or emotionally.
Elizabeth and the team at Dexters have guided us through this journey with professionalism, diplomacy, and efficiency. We’re incredibly grateful for their support and understanding, especially given that the process is rarely straightforward or predictable. Thank you!
Dexters - especially Joshua Anthony - have made the renting process really straightforward. Joshua responds to queries immediately, gets things moving, and keeps you updated - you couldn't ask for more!
Bethan Pike was our property manager and has probably been the most caring and attentive person we've had manage our tenancy. When we ever had issues with the property, she was always responsive and helpful and also managed the end of our tenancy/deposit very well, handling a dispute with our landlord. We've had horrendous experiences with estate agents and private landlords in the past so it's a breath of fresh air to know there are great people out there.
Lottie at Dexters in Surbiton was on the ball, and always called me back if I left a message. She is very helpful and keen, and a great asset to Dexters. I would recommend using Lottie for your next house sale.
They are positively awful!! Tried to contact, sent emails and messages, then when it came to now we want to terminate as you haven’t done your job.. the apologies come and blame is distributed far and wide! The tenants have rights too!! The rental tribunal is the next stop!! Don’t use them!
Excellent thoughtful service. The legal aspects and human circumstances of a tenancy renewal were openly discussed and considered over a number of telephone calls which resulted in a good outcome for all parties. Thank you Hannah.
Monika has been incredibly helpful since being assigned to our property, she always replies quickly, she is extremely thorough and I feel like she genuinely cares about us having a good experience in our flat which is not very common in my experience.
I had raised few issues with my rental flat, Carl Tettey was extremely helpful and followed up with me on a weekly basis and provided update and assured me all issues will be resolved. He was very caring and he does actually care about the tenants. Carl is easy and friendly and he is quick to respond and easy to talk you. I'm grateful to him for sorting all issues out with the property in a timely manner. Thanks Carl. You deserve the 5 star!
Dexters is one of the worst lettings agencies I had the misfortune of dealing with. Here are the list of just few of things that happened while renting one of their properties in Kensington.
- on moving in: pizza was found behind radiator. Hair everywhere. They admitted to only having spot cleaned the property
- front lock was not working and got stuck in the property multiple times having had to climb out of the window. Would not immediately deal with the issue
- had to have the flat professionally cleaned
- all the cupboards were broken, toilet leaking, boiler (in the bedroom) rattling
- front window on a ground floor flat not lockable (little bit of a security hazard)
- impossible to get hold of anyone
- no insulation, had a 2 year case with the council as the property below was a student accommodation and the noise / cigarette smoke was unbearable in the bedroom. Dexters didn’t acknowledge
- no maintenance was every carried out
- boiler had to be shut down as it was a safety hazard and a danger to tenants. Not hot water or heating in the middle of winter for weeks
- during viewings to relet the property, there was never a 24 hour notification that strangers would enter my property / sometimes was not notified at all. They broke a lamp and caused other issues during each viewing of which I didn’t know about happening
- they did not admit to breaking into my property so had to open a case against them
- did not respond or take any of the legal issues seriously
- tried to cover up the breach of contract with a £150 John Lewis voucher
- never heard from a property manager
- went in to ask for the spare set of keys in their office and they just handed it out without confirming who I was
- they tried to blame the owner of the property and made them pay for breaking the law
- they turned around and said that I addressed the complaints to the owner when in fact it was dexters
- they will always try to do check outs at the property when you are not available. Make sure you find out who is doing the property check out and do it on the phone together. Record it.
Anyone who is in similar situation please don’t give up. What worked for me is to 1) complain to the director at the branch who will insult you with shutting the conversation down, probably a £50 compensation and say they are not responsible. 2) take this further and even if you don’t have one say you have a solicitor and are reaching out to the Managing Director. 3) write and official complaint to the MD. They will tell you that the branch director will reopen a case at the branch. 4) they will offer you something higher, always ask for it in a written format and not the phone 5) if you are unhappy then take it to the (free) legal complaints body (usually The Ombudsman)
6) don’t give up, push through and hold them accountable so that they stop taking advantage of tenants and ruining the renting experiences and temporarily their lives
Dexters in Muswell Hill. A clueless organisation that have little knowledge about managing period property
Dexters in Muswell Hill, north London took on the management and major works of a grade 2 block. They sold themselves on their expertise of managing historical properties. They recommend surveyors and contractors suitable for the task of major works. In a nutshell, a clueless organisation with zero knowledge of lime mortar Flemish bond buildings. They added zero value and in some aspects destroyed value to the block by the cowboys they recommend.
We couldn't be happier with our tenancy renewal experience with Dexters. Their professionalism, responsiveness, and commitment to ensuring tenant satisfaction are truly commendable. We would like to particularly acknowledge the great efforts of Bobby Nizzar in the Tenancy management team and John Pires - the Director of Lettings at Dexters Hammersmith. Thank you both!
I had a few problems with lack of follow-up from inspections where some small items needed to be resolved. However, Louis Preston in the Chelsea office has been very helpful during our tenancy.
Daragh assisted me recently with a matter and inquery. Daragh was not only most helpful but very responsive which led to a swift and satisfactory resolution.
