Cruise America Reviews

I started this process with Cruise America in March, and the booking process went smooth. We decided to view one of the RV models that we were going to rent. It was a newer model in pristine condition. We felt very comfortable going forward. We made an appointment on Friday, July 25th early morning pickup and was advised the day before that the RV would not be ready until sometime Friday afternoon which was unacceptable. We agree to pick it up Saturday morning and were in a rush to get on the road. As we were loading the vehicle we realized it was not a newer model, not properly cleaned, and had other maintenance issues we had to deal with. When we finally settled down for the evening in 80+ degree weather, the A/C was not strong enough to cool the RV to a reasonable temperature. We called the 800 number to lodge a complaint and was advised to buy a fan to assist with the cooling. The following day, we camped in the Badlands, where the temperature was 90+ degrees and experienced the same problem with cooling. The next morning we started the vehicle and after 10 minutes, the RV overheated. We again called the 800# to report the problem and were told not to drive it and that they would send someone out to look at it. After about 3 hours of waiting, we called again and were advised they did not have anyone scheduled to come out and we should put water in the radiator reservoir then drive to a gas station for coolant. We ended up adding 1 gallon of water and 1 gallon of coolant. We drove 2 hours to a campsite and contacted them with the address and site number. We were told someone would come out to look at it as we were planning to be there for 3 nights. On the 3rd day, not hearing anything, we called the 800 # again. We were told they do NOT OFFER MOBILE SERVICE, contrary to what we were told previously!! Luckily we made it home all the while the check engine light was on. Fortunately, it did not ruin all of our vacation plans, as we were concerned and stressed out that we may not make it back in the rented RV to return it to the Plainfield, IL location. The representative gave us a partial refund which we did not feel was adequate for what we went through and was told that this was the best that he could do. We will NEVER rent from Cruise America again!

Esteban, the agent that took our initial reservation and then the adjusted reservation when we needed to change the dates, was super friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and patient providing information, answering dozens of questions, and explaining multiple details. Outstanding customer service!

Very easy to find what we needed on the website. We booked over phone and was greeted by friendly knowledgeable customer service. Unfortunately we had to cancel (within the guidelines) and received a full refund. Definitely using this company in the future.

Terrible experience with Cruise America – unsafe RV and zero customer support We rented an RV through CamperDays (provider: Cruise America) for a trip from July 1–9, 2025. Right from the start, the vehicle was defective: the gear shifter was broken, the engine warning light was on, and loose wires were hanging inside. The RV was clearly unsafe to drive. We contacted Cruise America immediately, but received no response — no assistance, no mechanic, no guidance. We returned the vehicle early and the mechanical issue was confirmed by staff, but to this day, they have not responded to our formal complaint submitted to cr @ cruiseamerica . com on July 13, nor the follow-up on July 27. No apology, no compensation, no communication. Cruise America charges for services they do not provide and takes no responsibility when things go wrong — even when safety is at stake. Avoid this company at all costs.

David made my experience extremely easy. He is kind and very good! He also called me back because I forgot to give him my 15% discount code. Fingers crossed that it will be applied.

Every company that send people away with campers /rv they rent should have a 24h service desk by a simple and free number. Cruise America doesn't and therefore don't they even deserve 1 star at all.

Business hours representative was excellent. She was able to take care of my issue immediately.

Last minute you cancel us. This is so bad. You already took my deposit you have to responsible if your car get damaged 🤬

Shayla was extremely helpful, I had never rented an RV before.

Counter check in friendly. quick check in and check out.

Lisa Bostick was great and provided excellent customer service. She was available to answer any questions I had.

There is a significant gap between the appealing commercials and the reality of the RV we rented for our vacation. We rented unit 310103 and encountered the following issues: The gas did not work properly, and we could only fill it halfway. The RV had a pervasive smell of urine throughout. The tire alarm was defective. The water supply was leaking. When we connected the external water supply at the campsite, water spilled all over the floor, rendering the toilet, sink, and shower unusable. There was a large ant nest living inside the walls. I called Cruise America multiple times on Monday and Tuesday, but their only response was to direct me to the dealer from whom I rented the RV. Upon contacting the dealer, I was told that I needed to speak with Cruise America, leaving me in a frustrating loop with no one willing to assist. As a result, we returned the camper earlier than planned. Cruise America, if you respond to this comment, please do not instruct me to write to the customer-relations again, as I reached out to you on Wednesday and have yet to receive a response.

The staff we have worked with have been great. I have recommended your company to friends.

As a family of 4 from Germany we rented an RV from Cruise America (CA) in San Francisco for a 4-week tour around some national parks in the western/southwestern USA in April. The RV was unsafe, run down, and poorly maintained. Four major appliances didn’t work (fridge, stove, shower and heater). Other features that were compromised or didn’t work included back-up sensor, screen door and door lock, windscreen wipers, lights and toilet door. Three times during our trip we had to either go out of our way or make a special stop at our additional expense, as we followed CA’s instructions to ‘fix’ some of the problems. We found CA’s “customer service” and communication around the issues we experienced to be lacklustre at best. Managers conveniently were never available to speak with us, and we were passed from one person to another as we tried to resolve the RV’s many issues. Because we lost time on our rental in order to ‘fix’ the numerous issues, CA’s own policies stated we would be due a partial refund. But it took MONTHS of wrangling with CA, involving the Better Business Bureau and many emails, before we eventually received a nominal refund that did not at all cover our additional expenses. This whole experience left a very sour taste in our mouths and marred a trip we had been planning for over a year. If you’re wanting to rent an RV in the USA, we STRONGLY recommend that you stay far away from Cruise America. Added comment after reply from CA: Typical response from CA when you read through other responses from the company (probably AI generated) after customers give one star ratings - lots of apologies and promise to improve service, but nothing changes. The resolution you said you ultimately offered was another example of twisting the truth from your side (we've been told that we would get compensated adequately for all expenses, time and troubles). We encountered a substantial financial loss that did not at all cover our additional expenses (throwing spoiled food away, expenses for gas to detour to places to get repairs done ) as well as time wasted and only got a marginal refund at the end after months of wrangling with different departments and people of your company. No CA, you can't change what happened, but you could at least compensate expenses your policies and representatives on the phone promised, but you never did. To give your company one star is even exaggerating!

I had to cancel, but it was a painless process.

Excellent customer service! Friendly, professional, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of. Truly appreciated the attention to detail.

The management at the Henderson Cruise America needs training and empathy. This is a letter just I wrote to the corporate office. Beware of the Henderson Cruise America management. if you want to keep your family safe don't go to this buisness for your travel needs. First of all, I’m a return customer. My family and I had such a great time with your product before we decided to come back. We are a local family, and your Henderson location is right next to our house. On July 13th, I picked up the 30ft RV from your Henderson site. After a smooth pick-up, we headed on the freeway and noticed that both mirrors were shaking so badly I couldn’t use the side mirrors for changing lanes, so I pulled over on the side of the freeway. I used a little bit of duct tape to secure both side mirrors. As we started heading up the highway, I started to feel hot air hitting my right foot coming from the engine compartment. I used duct tape and a wet yellow towel to act as a filter to lower the temperature and used a spray bottle to stop my foot from feeling the hot air. Later on as I proceeded up the mountain I heard a grinding noise and the muffler was dragging on the ground during steep climbs so I pulled over and used my strength and a dog leash to tie up the muffler. My family and I were in the middle of nowhere and there were no services available for miles. Also our fuel gauge had been acting strange during the trip. The gauge was getting stuck in the middle. I’m a 25 yr helicopter pilot and I’m used to equipment failing with no help I didn’t want to worry my family nor break our plans with our scheduled vacation. We were high up in the Colorado with very little services. On July 23rd I returned the vehicle to your Henderson Location. I explained all of the mechanical issues to the Cruise American staff and that’s when the disrespect started. I received no apology, no accountability, and the manager on duty didn’t even come out to talk to me. I experienced multiple mechanical failures I was able to adapt to and still keep my family’s trip on schedule. These family trips only happen once a year. I have pictures and videos of all of the mechanical issues. I’m not looking for money, and I’m not looking to hurt my neighboring business. I just want some accountability. I want to understand why my family and I could be sent in an RV with such hazardous defectives. On July 23rd, when I returned the RV, I was offered$139.00 with no apology, and the manager didn’t even come out to talk to me. I admit I got mad and stormed out of the building. I just spent 9 days in an RV that I had to fix on the side of the road or freeway.

The Team made the process easy, quick and with a friendly experience.

The person I talked to when reserving a motor home was very curious and friendly. The process went very easily

There’s a representative was extremely helpful and patient
