Do NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Took out a learner policy which we paid for in full. Once my daughter passed her test, we notified them as the policy was now void. They charged £25 for cancelling the policy even though it would have been illegal to carry on using it. Basically, it is just a £25 fine for passing your test. Disgraceful customer service

Happy with the learner driver insurance policy UNTIL the driver passes their test. At this point you have to notify them, AND pay a £25 cancellation fee. There have been no claims or incidents etc, but still need to pay the £25 There is no way to avoid the fee, nice "surprise" gift for passing your test. Yes it is in the terms and conditions, what is not clear is that passing the test constitutes cancelling your learner policy. Maybe if you passed the test on the last day of your policy you would not be liable? Anyway, they should either make it VERY CLEAR that £25 fee is due no matter what, or just add in £25 to the price of the policy. Wish I'd seen these reviews before taking the policy.

Would not use or reccomend to anyone , after paying £250 for full years learners insurance we where stung with owing them £25 at the end of the policy which they cancelled 5 weeks short after doing a renual check , because my daughter passed her test . Apparently it's in the small print but not on the website, judging by others reviews and experiences it's an ongoing issue and a good money making scheme on there part .

Wish I had read some of the feedback left on here by others regarding Collingwood insurance cancellation policy. I too am being asked to pay an extra £25 after I supposedly cancelled my daughters learner insurance after she passed her test . It may be hidden in their terms and conditions but they really should make you more aware of this extra hidden cost when purchasing the policy . I shall be making the insurance ombudsman aware of their tactics . I don’t care what they say , it’s a CON . Be aware please , I definitely will not be using them again and will go out of my way to warn others through social media and word of mouth .

£25 cancellation fee when test passed. Buyer beware! Apparently in the terms and conditions. Really annoying extra charge. They should just include in the premium.

Horrendous CON. As a congratulations for passing your test within 12 months of the provisional insurance (no claims made), you are charged the full annual premium AND £25 cancelation fee. Be careful to read the small print You have now asked me to contact you after you read my review. I have email your info@ address but it failed. How else can I reply to you? Collingwood should include the £25 cancelation fee into the annual insurance quote, that way collecting the £25 without further insulting the customer by asking to pay a cancelation fee. This would avoid the feeling of animosity when cancelling the insurance mid term. Compounded by the fact if I had informed you of passing the driving test in Oct, you would have still charged the full annual fee with the addition of a £25 cancelation fee. I'm sure you can understand your customers frustrations

Straightforward and hassle-free

Do not use I paid upfront ! No benefit When i passed test 9 weeks later they refunded me less than 30% after the charges DO NOT USE and they overquote new driver

Deeply unhappy with their cancellation policy, How is it fair that cancelling just before 7 months are up and only getting 20% refund

Good insurance

Tried Collingwood quote, £900 for 6months cover. By contrast, for the same amount of time it costs only £280 to added to the existing policy holders insurance. I don't understand why it's so expensive. Had provisional 5 + years, I'm not particularly young, I have no bad history, our car is cheap to insure.

Great sign up and easy to use

I was very pleased with the service and cost last year when I took out this learner driver insurance policy for my son. However, my son has recently received the renewal notice, and we are horrified to see that the cost has gone from £206 last year to £503 this year. Same car, same address, no accidents, no claims. I fail to see how this can be justified - unless it's their business practice to hook someone and then keep them through apathy on the part of the client. Looking elsewhere.

The advisor was very nice, no complaints there - however, I am an older learner driver (forties) and I wanted to add a named driver. I was told this was only possible with an annual policy so I went ahead with a quote for an own car + annual learner driver policy + one named driver. I am baffled by the many reviews that state this company is reasonable in it's prices. My quote for an annual policy with my husband as named driver came back as £5277. Without a named driver - the same. The 12 week policy without a named driver was quoted at £472.34. Approximating £2000 and a bit for a year. When I asked why the price difference was so vast I was told that it was a different policy. Which is no real explanation. After querying about cancellation fees, I was told that if I cancelled the annual learner driver policy (having passed hopefully!) after 9 months they will keep 100% of the remaining policy fee. So I could be potentially out of pocket by more than £1000. If I cancelled it after 1 month they keep 25% of the fee - again a good hunk over £1000.

We have used Collingwood Learner driver policies for our daughters and are delighted with both the policies and the service from the team when we speak to them on the phone. Thank you!
