Contrary to many of the reviews I had good experience with Chatham Marine. I bought a pair of Southill Waterproof Chelsea boots and was surprised to find they were very tight at the heel and the heel pull strap broke. Without quibbling I was offered a refund but chose a bigger size which seem OK. They appear to be well made but let's see if they stand the test of time. I will buy from Chatham again.
The new design of the ladies Chatham G2 deck shoes are awful looking. Mint blue/green stitching? Awful. I know lots of people opting for the Le Chameau deck shoes instead now! Poor choice Chatham…bring back the classic ones
I’ve had several pair of deck shoes and absolutely love them. Treat myself to a new pair every summer. This autumn I bought some of the calf length country boots and was very disappointed that the insides tore within weeks.. HOWEVER… excellent customer service, I emailed them and they asked me to send the boots back so they could see and improve from the damage and sent me a brand new pair of boots. Great service
I bought a pair of Chatham deck shoes- the paper thin sole wore out very quickly because it was only mm thick. Here is the the reply I sent to Chatham after they refused to reimburse me:-
I cannot accept that the shoes have been badly stored nor gone brittle- you have to be kidding? Just look at the poor quality sole and designed thinness of of it. No matter when the shoes were purchased they purport to be something they are definitely not ie expensive, quality shoes which are designed to wear out very quickly (planned obsolescence taken to the extreme.)
I shall warn others of your poor quality product/s and will be leaving an uncomplimentary review online. Further, I wouldn’t buy a pair of your shoes again even if you offered me 50% off- you’ve wasted my time and money.
I bought a pair of dark blue leather lace boots from a shop in our high street. Unfortunately, they have been very disappointing. The leather is of very poor quality and deteriorated quickly losing its colour despite using blue shoe polish. The crepe soles have both split in several places. The laces supplied with the shoes were far too long and required replacing before I could wear them. I won’t be buying another Chatham Group product again. Buy at your peril.
The customer service team responded quickly and efficiently to resolve an issue I had with a pair of boots. I would definitely buy from this company again, love their comfortable good quality footwear.
I emailed Chatham to see if I could buy some laces after my dog had chewed one. They asked for a photo and the laces arrived the next day free of charge! Brilliant, helpful and friendly service. Thank you
We booked and paid for a two-night stay at the Charles Hotel Chatham, through Booking.com, for the last weekend in April.
We arrived around 1.00pm, and found the hotel to be completely locked up. There was no answer to the door-bell, or to phone calls to the numbers shown outside. There was a notice saying '24 hour concierge'.
We were stood outside, in the cold, feeling very annoyed. Normally, whenever you arrive at a hotel in the daytime, it would be open, even if you could not yet check into your room.
Finally, we saw a cleaner, who let us into the lobby, but there was no-one around. I called the mobile number on an internal notice, and spoke to one of the Management Team.
He was quite aggressive, with no apology, and said it was their policy to lock the place up until check-in at 3.00pm.
Finally another man arrived at reception, and we complained about the whole arrangement. He repeated it was their policy, and again no apology.
He then took a phone call, after which he said we could not stay there, and must get out immediately.
What a disgraceful way to treat two paying customers. We have NEVER experienced this 'policy' before, and are disgusted at the management's whole attitude.
DO NOT STAY AT THE CHARLES HOTEL, CHATHAM.
We then went to the St George Hotel nearby, where Fran, the lovely receptionist, found us a room and couldn't have been more helpful.
Original pair I wore until they eventually fell apart. Second, identical pair, fell apart before I'd really worn them. Stitching holding top panel on came apart one one shoe, blue linning around the heel came unstuck on both left and right shoes, repeatedly had to re-glue sole panels back on, on one shoe inparticular. They were only worn as casual footwear and were never exposed to water.
I was looking for some deck shoes that were all black as I need them for an event. Most of mine are the normally brown and tan leather and they have white soles as most do! So looking around I came across these guys and Ive seen the name around and had heard they were pretty good on quality and british made too! So I had a look around the site the prices are very reasonable. I contacted them prior to making a purchase to ask if I could buy 2 sizes and then return the one that wasnt the best fit, and they were very helpful and have a very good returns process, similar to Amazon in some respects or at least a simple. I dont have a printer so they even offered to post me the return sticker/ label in the post! The level of service is excellent, and more businesses should operate the same, common sense and good manners are both free.
The package arrived and I tried the pairs I thought would be best and then arragne the return as above.
The shoe are very comfortable and well made and having spent a lot on this type of product over the years I will be using them again as their range is also very good.
All in all a great experience and it's also good to support a british brand.
Well I don’t know what happened to the previous reviews but I’ve got to say that their customer service was exemplary! The shoes I returned got lost via a Hermes/Collect + shop who obviously didn’t know what they were doing. I chased my refund and had an instant reply. I quoted the receipt I was given but it was Hermes and should have been Collect+. I thought then I would struggle to get my money back but they refunded immediately and said they would try and track the parcel down through Hermes. Wow! As a pensioner I so appreciated this.
My daughter has Chatham shoes and they are excellent. No issues at all.
I placed an order at this store in January 2020. In early December, the shoes were destroyed. The skin was torn in the back of the Shoe above the heel. I sent a request to the store, but they don't respond. I'm not happy.

Bought some lovely deck shoes in February, however there was an issue with the sole peeling on first wear and no response from Chatham when I tried to contact them. Currently having to keep glueing them.
