Very straightforward and efficient

Great communication, well designed site, website passed all security checks with the bank that made payment easy and they used escrow which gives confidence to the buyer and seller. The entire process seems to be well thought through. Will definitely use again.

Rang about a car, seller told me it was sold. A week later, the advert is still live and car still coming up in search results. Have messaged seller who said they thought they'd removed the ad. This issue needs to be addressed if Car & Classic wants potential buyers to take their site seriously. ** Update - Have spoken to customer services who assured me they will be addressing this issue in the near future.

Auctions - forced to use their “mangopay” (read reviews) escrow company to pay for vehicle won in auction - charged £625 for the privilege - you have to pay fully for the car prior to getting the sellers details, putting you in a disadvantaged position if the car has undisclosed faults - it is then up to “Carandclassic” to decide if you get your funds returned or not - it’s extremely risky for the buyer. ( as for viewing prior to the auctions end, realistically this isn’t practical unless local ). Car and classic is taking fees from buyer & seller now, as a company it’s only the fees they are interested in. Beware . Ref the reply of Carandclassic. Everything I have said is factual and I fully understand how your company does business. You pay into Mangopay in full for the car - which includes the % you take from the seller + the mandatory escrow fee - people cannot always chase all over the country looking at cars in advance and have to rely on descriptions. Please explain what happens when a car is misdescribed with undisclosed faults - Carandclassic decide & it is in their interest to try and push through a sale, putting the buyer in a tricky position. I’d suggest the paying in advance to an escrow company works for sellers , for buyers it should be an option only.

Prima esperienza con Car and Classic: aggiudicata la macchina è venuto l'acquirente (straniero ma residente in Italia) , una volta controllato e provato la macchina, abbiamo proceduto al passaggio. In tutto questo io non avevo ricevuto il pagamento, e dovevo materialmente consegnare l'auto... Sono stato rassicurato dal servizio post vendita (Margnerita I.) che mi ha anche fornito ricevuta dell'avvenuto sgancio dei fondi dal loro conto Mangopay alla volta di quello mio. Pensavo (sperando che non ci fosse nessun intoppo)di avere il pagamento nei primi giorni della settimana seguente dato che l'operazione si è svolta giovedi pomeriggio, invece già la mattina successiva ho avuto il pagamento. Un servizio di bonifico istantaneo aiuterebbe. Solo per questo 4 stelle e non 5.

It’s a leap of faith buying a car this way and relies completely on the honesty and integrity of the buyer and seller - provided that’s in place the system works brilliantly and with the money held in escrow until both sides are happy you are given added piece of mind

Extremely poor after sales service.

I must say I was a bit hesitant about how the auction works but I really must say very professional people. I will highly recommend you.

Impressive operation. Very slick photography and listing process-took care of most things for you. This part is good value but they definitely get their pound of flesh when you sell and from the buyer too. Very lucrative business model for them. On the plus side the incentive is there for them to get your car sold and to get a good price for it, as only by selling do they get those extra buyer and seller payments. And as those are percentage based, the higher the sale price, the more they get. So at least my car sold for the reserve at auction, in what is, let’s face it, in late autumn 2024, pretty dire market and at not at all the optimal time of year!

Super Easy, faultless and would definitely purchase with them again

(This is a re-write of my original review, reduced for conciseness) The lack of any contact telephone number being available on the C&C website means that communication regarding any issue is limited to filling out a support form on their website. I did this twice over two days and received no acknowledgement or response at all. Only after logging a one star review on here was I contacted via email. C&C apologised for apparently having not received my support requests from the website and stated that they had tried to call me several times, including leaving a voicemail message. I received none of these calls, or the voicemail, however to give C&C the benefit of the doubt, it seems that a poorly timed mobile phone network outage may well be responsible for that happening. Resolving my issue took several email exchanges, a situation that could have been easily avoided if a support telephone number was clearly published on the website and I could have spoken to a human being. There is no such contact number, except one buried at the very end of the website 'Privacy Policy', but calling this number initially only proved fruitless as no-one answered it.

YOUR ADVERTISING SITE IS ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT. PLACED AN ADVERT WITH YOU, TWO DAYS LATER MY BIKE HAD A VERY HAPPY NEW OWNER. THANK YOU.

Very easy to place the classified advert and upload pictures. The buyer of my vehicle was from abroad and using the Escrow service made transfering the funds secure and hassle free for both parties. Knowing that the funds are in a third party account until cleared was invaluble and at £99 a bargain.

First time to buy from them , very helpfull staff. Seller was a very helpfull at pickup and friendly guy
