It’s was an absolute disaster, I was quoted €59. I knew it was going to be more when I got fully insured but not (€444)then had to get a car seat for €45 which was flirty.

So I rent to car rental desk at Knock Airport, the member of staff at the collection kiosk was very friendly & professional. The problems started when I collected the car. The car was parked so close to the adjacent cars that it made it extremely difficult to enter the car. I was told to return the car with a full petrol tank, but the car was not handed over to me with a full petrol tank, it was 90% full. If it hadn't been for both of these incidents I wouldn't normally mention the cleanliness of the car, but the entire car was covered with a layer of dust. I was in a rush to leave Knock airport, so I didn't have time to address these incidents with the Budget staff. I emailed Budget on 12/05/2024 to raise these issues and I still havent had a response. In hindsight, I should have complained at the time. The car is fine and the service at the rental desk was excellent, but the follow on customer support is very poor. It seems that they have your money and now couldnt care less.

I was forced to give 1 star for the Dublin Budget car rental. 3 ½ hour ordeal of standing in mutliple lines between the airport and the offsite office to get the car. I've rented over 500 cars in my life, and never had such an awful experience. I can blame amateur business practices. They don't know how to run a customer oriented business efficiently. To top it off, when I returned the car all filled-up and clean, the fraudster return inspector accused me of making a 2 cm scratch on the front right wheel. Bear in mind, that there were dozens of scratches on all 4 wheels when I picked it up. I even took pictures for evidence. but my pics were of no consequence as they charged my card an absurd fraudulent €201 amount for a supposed tiny scratch which even if I did, how can they even justify the price of €200; for cheap japanese mini-car wheel that doesn't cost more than €50 new. Luckily I have full coverage with AXA policy. But its the principle. This budget location are plain and simple theives. Dublin police need to be involved to prosecute for fraud.
Booked online for car rental at Dublin airport - very straightforward and good price. However the shuttle bus to the car rental took a long time On returning the car, the shuttle bus system was shambolic. Dozens of people queuing up, waited ages then one small bus arrived. Then waited ages again and another full bus, so finally got on the bus, but leaving behind another large crowd. Some people ended up walking because they were going to miss their flight.
Great company, great price great service can’t fault at all
I am still furious concerning the extra insurance I had to buy to waive the 2000 euro* risk of car damage while I bought a 'full insurance' package when renting the car on-line via RentalCars.com. Apparently 'full insurance' doesn't mean what it says. On top of that the car assigned to us at DUB didn't move for an inch**, so we had to offload our bags and go to the office for another car etc etc. The second car, a Suzuki Swift, was OKish as long as you didn't increase the speed above a 100 km/hr - as that would result in a severe 'tremor' in the steering wheel. And secondly as long as you stayed of bumpy Irish roads*** - the suspension was not topnotch. Reporting these latter points when returning the car was sort of waived away as insignificant because searching for a few mm of smear/scratch on the front bumper was apparently top priority. I have rented cars all over the world dozens of times and never ever before I have such a bad experience as at Budget at DUB. *) A rather extravagant figure for an older simple cheapish car with more than 100k km on the clock. Might be able to get a better deal on the second hand market. **) Dead battery! Really? How can that happen? #megafail ***) which proved to be a challenge being in Ireland
I have used Budget in Ireland before and they have always given a great service. Desk is easy to find in Cork Airport. Nice easy and stress free transaction at the check in desk with a nice gentleman who was very quick and professional. No hard sell on the excess insurance (which makes a difference). Car was nice and at a great pre booked price with Argus.Thank you.

I had a reservation in place. When I arrived at the counter the representative was extremely rude and condescending. He also kept changing the vehicle and charge amount, not at my request just on his own, but refused to explain why he kept changing them, despite me asking multiple times. He then tried to charge me more than $3,100 above the amount on my confirmed reservation. I asked to cancel, and be provided evidence that I cancelled. He provided me a receipt for one amount, but still charged my credit card for two other amounts, totaling more than $4,000. I went to another rental company, and had no issues, so it is NOT an issue of local laws. I am still waiting for one of the two charges to be reversed, since nothing should have ever been charged to my credit card. The employees and business practices at this location are extremely questionable.
Simple, efficient and friendly. Always take the damage waiver from Budget, stress free driving. 10/10

Ma famille et moi attendions ce road trip avec impatience depuis plus d'un an et nous avons été très déçus de notre expérience avec votre entreprise. À notre arrivée au bureau de Budget Car Rental, nous avons été accueillis par un employé grossier et hostile qui a exigé une carte de crédit au nom du chauffeur. Cette exigence n'a pas été clairement indiquée lors du processus de réservation et nous avons été choqués d'apprendre que nous avions besoin d'une carte de crédit alors que nous avions prépayé la location et souscrit une assurance complète auprès d'une compagnie d'assurance voyage. Nous avons déjà loué des voitures dans différents pays et on ne nous a jamais demandé une carte de crédit de cette manière. Nous avons proposé de fournir une carte de débit ou de payer un dépôt en espèces, mais on nous a dit que la seule option était de souscrire une assurance supplémentaire auprès de Budget Car Rental. Bien que nous disposions déjà d’une couverture d’assurance complète, nous avons été obligés de souscrire une assurance supplémentaire pour louer la voiture. Cela ressemblait à une arnaque, car nous payions essentiellement deux fois pour une assurance dont nous n'avions pas besoin. J'exhorte Budget Car Rental à communiquer clairement toutes les exigences de location à l'avance afin d'éviter toute confusion ou inconvénient pour les futurs clients. Le manque de transparence et le comportement non professionnel de votre employé nous ont laissé une impression négative et nous ne recommanderons pas Budget Car Rental à nos amis et à notre famille. The car pick up at the terminal turned out to be a shuttle bus to the Budget car park location nearby, which involved us waiting 10 mins for a bus after already queing at the airport Budget desk. The service at the car park kiosk was satisfactory. The car was okay and it did the job, but it felt very well worn. As the price we paid was low, we didn't mind that. After dropping the car back, we had to wait 45 mins for a shuttle bus to take us to the terminal.
The staff when picking the car were great However the experience was soured because of third party that I booked through and just wasted my money, so i would recommend budget but go direct through them.
We arrived to pick up the car and they overcharged us for insurance at 69€ a day when I read all other reviews it should have been 35€ a day. They never checked the car to make sure it was road worthy. Tires should have been at 52psi according to what was on the tire, but three tires were at 32psi and one was at 19psi and top it off we had a bald tire. Budget put our lives in jeopardy. We never received any paper work when we picked up the car or when we dropped the car. To this day we still haven’t received a receipt explaining the charges. Overall it was horrible service, bad customer care and a scam on the insurance. Can we please get a receipt explaining the charges?

Super quick check in, very friendly and professional person, and all I had to show was my licence…..I rent around Europe 5 or 6 times a year, and it has always taken lots of time and lots of showing at least 3 things. Contract showed existing damage( very little) and the desk assistant said we should still take photos, which I thought was very helpful. First time I have used Zest to book through, and Budget as provider….very impressive.
