I cannot fault the service I received from Rachel Mack. She went that extra mile to ensure that she was able to offer me exactly what I wanted from my river cruise choice. I had many questions and requirements which she dealt with in a friendly, helpful manner whilst remaining professional at all times. It was a pleasure to deal with her, she is a credit to APT.
Very high quality fabulous cruise.
Fabulous boat, immaculately maintained, excellent ports of call, enthusiastic and informative Tour Director, plenty of food and drink, ( though served by less than enthusiastic staff, no eye contact, little rapport ). Overall, an exceptionally good trip. We would strongly recommend APT to anyone considering a small motor yacht cruise.,

The team on board were excellent - we had a room on the middle deck which was great - the trips later in the week were my preferred ones as they had swim stops from the back of the boat, the islands we visited were smaller and more friendly and we had more free time to explore as we wanted
Without doubt, the Travelmarvel Capella craft/boat/ship is lovely. The public areas are spacious and comfortable. The cabins are luxurious and well appointed, everything worked well and ours was meticulously maintained by our cabin steward. The itinerary was great and the scenery spectacular. The real problem with the Capella was the dining, food was poor, to at best, just about OK. Service was also bad. Gentleman guests being offered the menu and asked for menu choices before the ladies. Plates being removed from the table when other guests were still eating and the general eagerness to clear the table was obvious. Dress codes were ignored at dinner with shorts, tee shirts and flip flops being worn by some guests. The maitre d’ was unfriendly, never smiled and never greeted us at meal times. The cruise director Gunther managed his job very well, dealing with passengers and luggage joining and leaving the ship plus arranging transport, excursions and guides etc, but, on one occasion I had reason to ask for his advice and his response was abrupt and discourteous and I was both shocked and dismayed by this. Observing him throughout the cruise, I thought he lacked some interpersonal skills. We were expecting a lot more from our 14 night Travelmarvel river cruise but it never quite got there. Sadly, we won’t be using the services of APT again.
We travelled on the European Gems Budapest to Amsterdam cruise from 7.8.23 to 21.8.23. This was a well-organised and very packed holiday, with beautiful scenery and a very comfortable French Balcony cabin. We have done many ocean cruises but this was our first river cruise. The boats are necessarily smaller as they have to fit through 12m wide locks (there are 68 on this itinerary) and the Travelmarvel Capella is a relatively new 91-cabin vessel in service for 3 years but impacted by Covid so has only done two seasons. There were only 132 passengers on board for our trip instead of the maximum 182, and the vessel was spacious enough for us not to feel crowded at any time. The on-board cruise director was excellent and gave a daily briefing that informed us about upcoming experiences. There was a couple on board providing evening entertainment (usually live music, on 3 occasions quizzes) though no alternative entertainment was available apart from in-cabin television offering news channels or films. Reception was usually OK but could be limited by terrain and interrupted by locks. The onboard free wifi worked well though only for a maximum of two devices at once. There were some board games available in the lounge. The pub at the rear of deck three was empty most of the time and had some rustic food but offered no alternative entertainment, The reception staff were pleasant and efficient and the cabin steward was superb. Meals were served in the dining room at set times and the quality of the meals was good rather than exceptional. Breakfast and lunch were mainly buffet style with some options being served by the waiting staff. Portion sizes were reasonable. Beer, soft drinks and wine were available with lunch and dinner, red and white were automatically offered and beer or sparkling wine could be requested. There was never any option for different wines. Overall, we enjoyed the itinerary through some excellent European cities and towns (Budapest, Vienna and Bratislava were highlights for us) and there were included excursions every day with some optional experiences which were usually worthwhile. As we visited at least one new venue every day there was very little downtime and we felt we needed a holiday afterwards! We still prefer the variety of experiences available on ocean cruise liners.
We are satisfied about everything, EXCEPT the fact that we became ill on the TM Vega last year and this year again! There is some virus. Now 9 days after return, we are still coughing. And we were not the only ones. Now we wonder if we will ever make another river cruise. Our health is more important!
I couldn't fault this cruise which is real praise as I have been on many. The tours were good and our tour manager was a star . He worked so hard to make everything work. As did all the staff. Whilst not the cheapest I felt it represented good value . It was also easy to meet people if you were a solo traveler
I wish to speak for the vast majority of 'guests' on Travemarvel Capella. The food was 110% Gordon Blue !! (Cordon Bleu) Thank goodness the portions were sensible - or we would have burst with 4 courses - plenty plenty. And Richard( the pianist not the passenger) with Anna were splendid, talented, interactive sociable, smily musicians who kept us up dancing till to late ! Wonderful cruise
This was one of the best holidays I have been on. The staff on the ship seemed to be all happy, and smiling, helping to create a friendly atmosphere. The excursions had a choice on most days, at no extra cost, and the ones I experienced were very enjoyable. I am used to doing land tours, where you might have to change hotels on most nights, but this was a more relaxed way of touring different places, and the weather was great as well.
