Hints were useful since Ancestry started providing them. However, several weeks ago, Ancestry obviously updated their search algorithms that generate HINTS. They really messed up the whole HINTS feature. An example: Say I have a girl names Mary Jane Jones in my tree and she marries John Smith. I open hints and got to Smith where I find hints for Mary Smith, M Smith, M J Smith, J Smith, HJane Smith and sometimes just plain old Smith. In addition, I also get hints for Mary Jones, Mary Jane Jones, Jane Jones, J Jones, and just palin old Jones. And, some of the various Mary, Mary Jane, Jane and J Jones hints are highschool yearbooks. While highly doubtful that Mary Jane Smith would have been amrries in the 9th grade in highschool, it is possible I suppose. Bottom line here is that the Ancestry software development team has really overextended their "reach" in their recent search algorithm updates. I get so many hints now that I am honestly thinking of dropping my Ancestry subscription.
The registration was easy, the kit arrived in time with good guidance how to use it. The company sent me lots of information and the result was ready in the expected time period, however, it was disappointing. The result is not specific and too broad. I am from Hungary and the result confirm of Central and Easter European origin with little Balkan, German and Portugal. I expected a more specific European origins like Magyar, mongol, horvat, toth, gipsy...Most probably the database is not big enough to get these type of information. These are not stored, yet, in the Ancestry database. Most probably I should have tried my DNA analysis with a European or Asian (?) database. Therefore if you are from Central or Eastern Europe, do not expect interesting result from Ancestry. I know many people from other European countries who were very satisfied.
I'm happy to find out what all my ancestors are from.
Convoluted and I constantly feel I am being fed material in drips to keep me subscribing. Also, while good on the British side of my family, material from my Indian side is non-existent
It was interesting, but I was expecting to know more. The results told where my Mexicans relatives come from, but not Spanish relatives, which was over a 40% of my ADN.

What it did was confirm a lot of things my mother had told me growing up about my past. For example, she said we had American Indian blood. Sure enough my third great grandmother was half Indian and an orphan and I could surmise from that how it all came about. Also I had heard about German ancestry and discovered that whole lineage down to my father. The clues you give are very helpful as well.
Do the fact that my father died when I was three years old, it was fascinating for me to see what DNA I received from him. Some of the traits were totally wrong such as caffeine intake. I live on coffee, and it told me that I am unlikely to be a coffee drinker. Wrong.
I asked Leif some questions but then asked for an actual person, and was connected. Somehow my tree and my cousin's tree got integrated. They began working on them immediately.

When you sell a product so I can discover my ancestors then I should be able to access there records without further cost to me. The information I provided is not the only information that I am looking for.. I should be able to see the records in there entirety!!!!

I like the information itself and how it identifies matches via DNA percentages and markers, but it forces you to invest and figure out the rest. Very much dislike the UI and the process of saving records to the/ a profile. The UI is cluttered and not streamlined. The information doesn’t link and flow in an intuitive way. The traits of DNA is a great idea with very poor execution and useless inconsequential information. The price is ridiculous and blocks the community’s that you intend to serve.
Ancestry.com made an error in listing one person in my family tree that I can prove, as being my paternal-maternal great grandmother. Ancestry.com has not and does not allow me to change that error. This is wrong and should not be allowed to happen.
I was disappointed that my 50 possible relatives were mostly 1 to 2 percent. I thought I would learn alot more. I would not recommend Ancestry to anyone.
Got my results. Not impressed. I thought it would tell me more. Medical. And the traits would not be just so broad. Not just where we my dna sais im from? I dont get how people say they find theor families. I was trying because i was adopted. Not worth the 100$!
