Tried making a payment on a loan over the phone and there's a $10 service charge... Went online to try and make an account and the page wouldn't load, so ended up paying the $10 fee to pay as a "guest". Making your customers pay a fee just to PAY their loan. Smart business decision..
Since I live in Texas and there are no banks near us and yet the people in the bank manage to make it seem like I am in the lobby right therel I have had my accounts here for more than 20 years, with CD's and savings, etc.
Have gotten a number of big loans through Altra federal credit Union in Tyler and Bank there. Everything has always went smooth and never had to even go in the door. Now thats convenience.
I love Altra always so nice and willing to help.
First..I had a hard time understanding the customer service rep. Secondly..I was eventually told that my phone # was not correct, amazingly my phone # has not changed! Its been the same for years! Then I'm to call customer service to help me and I WAS talking to the customer service #!! So frustrating! So end of story, I didnt have any progress on my 3rd try & gave up. Woe is me!!

I have a couple of loans through them. Rates and everything were good. My car broke down, so I canceled the insurance on it for 2 months while it got fixed. I still made the payments on the car. Without any calls or anything, they had a very expensive insurance thing to my loan and doubles my payment. I tried calling a few times and got basically no answers for awhile. I made my normal car payments every month, but now my credit shows 6 months of missed payments, and they are no help. I’m in the midst of trying to get a new loan through them, and it takes more than 24 hours for them to respond to each email reply. Slowest process I’ve been apart of when it comes to a loan.
My debit card gets flagged for fraud on at least 1 purchase online a month. Just because I use google wallet does not mean it is FRAUD!!!!!!!

The worse bank in Winona. completely not friendly. Want to argue with their customers, especially in front of other customers tellers are rude and don’t know how to do their jobs. I would not recommend this bank to anyone.
I've never had a bad experience with altra until they added $3300 to my auto loan and doubling my monthly payment which i cant afford and with no notice so I can fix my auto insurance!! Something so simple to fix and instead of giving me notice I get screwed! So thank you altra!
Currently, Altra has an issue with their remote mobile deposit banking app that "only affects a small amount of certain Android users". I found out this "small amount" is about 35% of their users. Altra elected not put a splash banner out on their website notifying affected users of this issue. The only way I found out was when I attempted to deposit a check. I do not live in state and have limited ways to deposit a check remotely. I depend on this feature and the transparency from the credit union to notify me of when there's an issue that could potentially affect me. This has been going on for at least a month and they might have a fix in place sometime this month. How will I know when it's fixed? I just have to keep trying until it finally works. I'm currently shopping for a new deposit financial institution.
