The 2026 Telecommunications report
Telecommunications is the category where customer trust runs the lowest of any consumer service we rank. After years of opaque pricing, promotional rate cliffs, and forced equipment fees, the average mobile and broadband subscriber enters every billing month expecting to be disappointed. That reputational floor shapes the 2026 ranking: the providers at the top are not always the fastest or the cheapest — they are the ones whose customers report predictable bills, working installations, and support agents empowered to resolve issues without escalation theatre.
CrowdTrust's 2026 rankings weight reviews that describe billing disputes, installation experiences, outage responses, and cancellation procedures more heavily than reviews of routine service. This reflects how subscribers actually evaluate providers: the day-to-day signal works or it does not, but renewal decisions are driven by what happened the one time the bill was wrong or the truck didn't show up.
Across mobile carriers, internet providers, cable and satellite TV, business phone services, and telecom equipment, 2026 was defined by a continued shift toward fixed-rate, no-contract pricing — pushed in part by FCC and FTC enforcement on hidden fees and broadband nutrition-label requirements. The providers who embraced clarity outperformed; the ones who continued to advertise headline rates that excluded mandatory fees lost ground in every sub-category we ranked.
