Based on thousands of customer reviews across craft stores, subscription boxes, and hobby suppliers, here are the most frequent complaints to watch for:
Authentic customer reviews reveal insights that product photos and descriptions cannot convey. At CrowdTrust, you can discover:
When ordering colors online for crafts like yarn, fabric, or paint, look for reviews with customer photos showing actual received colors. Monitor screens display colors differently, and product photography uses various lighting. Real customer photos provide the most accurate representation of what you'll receive.
Look for detailed reviews mentioning specific brands, product performance, durability, color accuracy, and comparisons to similar products. Genuine reviews often include both pros and cons, discuss how materials performed in actual projects, and mention the reviewer's experience level. Generic praise without specifics is less helpful.
Be cautious. Legitimate subscription services occasionally have shipping delays, quality variations between boxes, or items that don't suit everyone's tastes. Perfect ratings with vague comments may indicate selective review display. Trust companies with mostly positive but realistic feedback mentioning both great boxes and occasional disappointments.
Both perspectives matter. Beginners reveal whether kits include clear instructions and necessary supplies for newcomers, while experienced crafters assess material quality and value compared to professional-grade alternatives. Match reviews to your skill level for most relevant insights.
Yes. Reviews frequently mention material quality, durability issues, chemical smells, safety concerns, and whether products match authentic branded versions. Multiple reviews describing cheap materials, falling-apart products, or safety issues indicate questionable quality worth avoiding.
Look for reviews specifically mentioning whether kits included all listed supplies, quality of instructions, and if additional materials were needed. Reviews revealing missing items, vague instructions, or need for unlisted tools help set realistic expectations about what you're actually getting.
Pay attention to how companies handled damaged shipments, color mismatches, missing items, or defective supplies. Excellent craft retailers replace problems quickly without hassle, while poor companies make returns difficult or blame customers for issues. Customer service quality matters when problems inevitably occur.
