Well planned holiday with good trips. Excellent food and staff service
Great in every department. Will do it again. Amazingly good organised.
All inclusive holiday very good. No hidden costs. The variety of tours was excellent and the quality too of a high standard. We have no hesitation in recommending Scenic.
We found the cruise disappointing. The staff were all lovely, polite and helpful, the room was kept clean and tidy and it was well organized. The food was good. The guides were all excellent. However pictures in the brochure were misleading. We only "cruised" for one afternoon where we could see the scenery we mostly travelled at night. Our cabin was also above the engine room and the bed actually shook at night. We thought we were booking an up market luxury cruise but it honestly felt more like a holiday camp. The photo in the brochure shows a couple at a table with space all around being served by a waiter. We were all crammed into the dining area with so little space you could hardly walk between the tables.

Once you get to the vessel it is great getting too and from the vessel can sometimes not be as smooth as it could be.

Excellent service and really delicious food and drink! Excursions varied, interesting and well organised! only criticism engine noise very loud at night but realise not much can be done about that! Butler service faultless. Cabins perfect.

Scenic have described this river cruise as the "Spectacular South of France" and it certainly lives up to this title. The Rhone and the Saone are the rivers explored in this trip and they roll majestically through more open, less dramatic countryside than some of the other great rivers that we have explored with Scenic. Nevertheless, there is great beauty and grandeur in these rivers and many opportunities to visit and explore some of France's most ancient and beautiful cities and towns like Arles, Avignon and the tiny jewel of Les Baux. The Pont du Gard and the Ardeche Gorge together with the Madelaine Caves and their incredible limestone formations should not be missed. The cruise ship and crew are up to Scenic's usual very high standard, the food is excellent and the entertainment delightful. This all adds up to one extremely memorable holiday experience which can be as peaceful or as energetic as you choose to make it. I would definitely go again!

The most ridiculous design fault of all is that there is no public area where you can just chill and watch the scenery . The so called observation room is no such thing. If you sit down your view is obscured by solid rails so you can see nothing . You have to stand and even then the view is limited. The bar / meeting area is on a low level and has blinds on the windows which are often closed. It is where happenings such as quizzes happen so you are basically in a dark room if you want to socialise or drink! And there is no outside walkway circuiting the ship so if you brave it outside and see a whale you cannot follow it around the ship. Ridiculous . (I should say that access to the Bridge is usually allowed but you are so high up that any whales , for instance, are too far away to be seen properly. ) There is no public lounge where you can quietly sit and have say a tea in the afternoon and watch the scenery. A huge omission. Cabins: Almost all rooms are BLACK decor with a little dark grey! . Shelves , couches, tables, wardrobes, walls, chairs, blankets, carpet, Towels, dressing gowns. . Everything. Even the mirrors are blackened. So the cabin is a dark unwelcoming place. Lighting is also low key and not even bright enough to read. The towels are the hardest I can remember. Really rough and no fluff. . They made my sore hands and face (from the wind and cold) so much worse. They are dark grey. The sink is utterly ridiculous. It’s one of those trendy flat trough sinks you get in public toilet facilities where the water just runs over a flat area to a trough so there is no way of having a full sink to shave , wash your smalls etc. Restaurants. For dinner you can reserve the sushi restaurant or good French restaurant or night market - the latter being about an 8 course tasting menu of, on my night, Asian type food. It changes every few days to say Indian influence one evening and Malaysian another . Very nice .However each of these restaurants is very small and very hard to get a reservation. If you cannot get a reservation you are limited to azure ( burgers, pizza and hot dogs) another specialising in Italian but also having other meaty dishes and also a pan Asian . All get very full and there is often a long wait for a table unless you arrive late. And all the food is rather poncey. There is no general buffet restaurant you can just walk into which is a shame as the lunch buffet is very, very good. So the evening dining is quite limited. I would strongly suggest the ship adopts buffet dining for the evening - that would free up one of the restaurants for an observation area or lounge. Positives. On the positive side there is a nice spa area where the sauna steam room and plunge pool are free to use. The bar is extremely well stocked and bar tenders make very good cocktails. The expedition team is good although their presentations are less professional and informative than we are used to on expedition ships. Summary: Greenland was a superb cruise destination but we were not enamoured with the ship (Silver Cloud the previous year to Greenland had so much more public space and brighter and more functional cabins

A very comfortable cabin on a discounted rate made this a very cost effective cruise, Staff were great as was food. We learned a lot about wine making which was exceptional input. Trips off the boat were superb. Only reason not 5 stars was the scenery was very boring with industrial areas and mud banks and trees for most of the way, little scenery.

They say it is all inclusive, AND IT IS!! Also the staff are exceptional ,very helpful and for about 150 passengers they’re 50 to 60 staff on board. The rooms are spotless and freshly done every day, there are great options for tours. We have had two river cruises with Scenic and we will definitely have a third A F Walker. MBE
