The booking process was pretty straightforward

The online booking was relatively straightforward - I had to stop and start a few times to check dates etc before completing the whole process. The personal details section asked for my middle name - I don’t have one - and then didn’t enter my surname so I finished up having to ring and speak to an agent - who sorted things quickly. I opened an online account so I can fill all the necessary information - passport details etc. However, although I had had my confirmation email, this hadn’t registered. I contacted the online assistant and everything was sorted quickly. So, four stars as everything was booked - but not five as I had to contact Riviera twice - which was quick and easy.

Simple, informative booking process by phone.

Ben made the booking experience really simple. He was very informative & answered all my questions e.g about the included optional excursions & I was relieved that not all involved a lot of walking but utilised land trains or coach tours with adequate time to explore independently. I can make periodic payments before the final payment is due. I can contact Ben if I have any further queries but Riviera Travel Q&As pages are very informative. Confirmation of booking was emailed promptly.

My first solo holiday

My first solo holiday booking. However, the Riviera travel consultant was helpful and patient. She reserved the holiday for me to “sleep on it” and gave me a day to finally decide. When she rang back she discussed my situation and gave me information on a solo holiday. She then gave me time to mull this over, ringing me back a day or so later. Absolutely no pressure to sign up and I felt very positive about the whole experience.

We paid £550 per person per day for very little

Booking ref 1452599. We paid £550 per person per travelling Day for a Rhine Christmas cruise. The cabin food and service were fine but we had no land visits before 2pm and it started to get dark at 4pm. We stayed docked overnight instead of travelling and thus spent one morning cruising past seemingly endless industrial complexes. One night we spent moored at Boppard where even in the day virtually everything was shut. If we had used that time sailing we could have had a whole day in Cologne instead of only two hours of daylight. At Rudesheim there was no included excursion. A visit to the museum and transport to it was charged at Euro20 in spite of the £550 per day holiday cost. In compensation I was offered up to 20% reduction on a future cruise but only if I paid for a premium cabin! I will of course not be taking them up on this generous offer

Need to improve one line booking

I attempted to book my holiday on the Riviera web site but when it came to booking the cabin number it told me I had to book through the phone booking, which I did The agent was very helpful and efficient and provided a pleasant and efficient booking experience. He provided a 5 star service but I dropped one star overall because I prefer to book on line.

The booking experience was very good with friendly efficient and patient advisers. There were difficulties in setting up an account which needed time and several calls, Despite this staff were helpful when trying to sort this out and finally achieved success.

Very good first time booking experience.

Just finalised a booking of a 2026 Blue Danube River Cruise with a Vienna extension for my wife and I, with another couple who have been our long standing travelling companions for many years. After using another cruise company for previous cruises we decided to try Riviera after receiving good reports from other friends. After online research, my initial telephone contact with Riviera was with consultant Gemma Read who was very helpful and knowledgable and provided us with a holiday quote and made an initial reservation, with a promise to call back after the weekend to allow time for us to discuss the details with our friends. Gemma called back as expected and after a brief discussion an acceptable offer was agreed and accepted. Our cruise confirmation has now been received and the whole booking process so far, has been easy and carried out well. We are now looking forward to a great 2026 holiday and hope this good experience continues.
