Review summary
Mint Mobile has mixed reviews from customers. Customers particularly appreciate service and reliable, though some mention concerns about customer service and communication.
The phone plan for Mint has been great.
But then i decided to buy a new phone with them.
How dare I do that! Worst company ever.
The phone never even made it to me and i was charged $500. I never got the phone and they refused any support at all. Confirmed delivered by Fedex to H.H.H. THAT IS NOT MY NAME. it was clearly stolen.
I purchased insurance but i never even got the phone to activate it.
Im tired of getting danced around.
I want my money back.
I have wasted an hour in Europe trying to get WiFi calling to work. It has worked on and off and now Mint doesn't even recognize my number. I renewed (annual) on the condition they make the feature work from Europe and they promised. Now I've been on the phone twice, wasting 40 min on two diff calls with two reps, promising they would fix it. f Mint and they'd get a MINUS 1 if that were an option
There should be 2 separate reviews ,one for the service which seems good so far and the second for customer service website and app which totally SUCKS! Been trying all day to log in and it won't recognize either of my mint numbers so I have. O access to my accounts. Customer service is clueless. Spent hrs on the phone with them . They can't help. So now I'm stuck with no account access and no way to change payment method since I do not give payment information over the phone verbally
I just want to say, THE QUALITY OF MINT IS TERRIBLE FOR ME. I live in north Seattle, and I pay for the premium mint plan, and I'm only able to make calls and use data for about six hours per 24 day. During business hours, I rarely am even able to make a call l. Maybe there's something unique about my situation, but my advice is don't use mint if you live in Seattle and need a reliabke network.
I previously had Verizon for many years. I have been with Mint for 1 full year now. The service Mint provides is nearly identical coverage and my bill has been reduced by approx 65% !!! - I am happy so far
Every single time I ever got phone user they would never be honest or their payments were so high. But mint mobile gives you good benefit plans like 3 months instead of one month it's super nice unlimited data it helps me get work done I'm never going back to my old plans.
I’m really glad that my friend recommended your company to me. I was just retiring and wanted to stay on budget. Your company allows me to do this and still receive excellent service. Thank you.
When I moved to the US from Canada, it was supposed to be temporary (~2 yrs) so knew I would want a US number while in US. I came across Mint and decided to support a fellow Canuck (not that he needs my money). The price is hard to beat given how we are ripped off in Canada with the big three monopoly.
NOTES:
+/- Website was not great then, but has improved since... some.
- Website: most annoying is how information on use is displayed, but that seems to now be gone.
+ One thing they got rid of was separation of topping up for data vs roaming by merging into one wallet. That gives you the ability to use your money however you needed.
+ I like that each month, I get a heads up when I start a new month. I also get a reminder (text & email) when invoicing is coming up. This is incredibly appreciated as payment is for a full year if you want to get the best price.
(For those that say they find out after they are billed, check your account settings. You can turn off 'auto-renewal'; this is nowhere buried in fine print but in full size print - read the page. I always review all website account settings for just such settings and to minimize spam.)
- Customer Service: hours aren't great (not 24/7) and are Pacific time. Only bot is 24/7 and it isn't great, esp if don't use correct words. (Yes, it's still early for such technology.)
---! One thing that never worked? Data roaming in Canada. Baffling as calling Canada (yes, from US) is included in the plans (as well as Mexico). I called and never got it fixed; one time making sure a technical support ticket was logged so it could be investigated.
On this trip to Canada, I was thrilled to learn of Mint's "free Canada roaming" - perfect!! I don't need a local number/sim!! WRONG! Data roaming still didn't work.
Worse, customer support - sorry, Mint (not sorry) - sucked. First call: "disconnected" while I was waiting for them to confirm local carrier. Second call: she refused to answer same question without all my account information, which wasn't needed to answer my question. Third call: she said she'd checked who it was (without my account info), and then pretended to put me on hold. After 8 minutes, I put myself on mute. 10 seconds later, she pretended to rejoin the call, saying "Hello? Hello?" and ignoring anything I said. She hung up. Not impressed.
--> Canada roaming solution: After doing some more extensive research, I landed on this page about setting up an APN manually. In the past, this has not worked. This one did so sharing: androidauthority's site (dot com/p-3497632/).
I can't believe that after 4 yrs of roaming not working, this is the only way to get it working - but at least it's working. I may be keeping an eye out for other options as I will be staying a few more years in the US.
Mint started out fine until the contract was up for renewal and Mint charged my account $210.39 for the entire next year. Was not asked if I wanted to pay for an entire year. When questioning the charge was told too late. NO REFUND. Sent an email message to Mint and waiting for a reply. Be careful if going to Mint. Take your money without any communication!
TERRIBLE!!!!!!. i ported my number last year from at&t and ever since I did, I have had nothing but issues. They checked with my service and said everything would work and I have plenty of service here where I live. I haven't been able to get calls. I can't send text messages. When I contact them they say they will send me a code but obviously can't because I can't get text messages. I'm constantly on customer support and they just say sorry but never do anything to fix it. Not to mention, you cant get a refund! You only can get a refund 7 days from when you start. They say because it's prepaid you already paid for goods and services. Good and services you can't even use. Today after being on chat for over an hour they finally admitted there isn't good service here. I would not switch. Look for another prepaid service. It's not worth it over here. I had to take screen shots of the craziness or no one would believe me. I can't even call on WiFi!
