Extremely Disappointing Experience with…

Extremely Disappointing Experience with JUCY – Safety & Hygiene Concerns Ignored Unfortunately fell far below the standards we expected, especially having had a great experience hiring in the past. From the outset, the vehicle presented multiple serious issues: Rear Suspension: Constant squeaking that made us question the safety and roadworthiness of the van. Black Mould: There were visible mould stains and patches of black mould inside the vehicle. Completely unacceptable in any rental, and downright dangerous for my partner, who has a respiratory condition and is highly sensitive to mould. Rear Doors: Both rear doors were extremely difficult to open, adding to our frustrations. We contacted your after-hours support line on Day 1 and requested a vehicle swap. We were not advised that this was even an option, leaving us stuck with a substandard and potentially unsafe vehicle for the entire trip. When returning the van, we again raised our concerns and were told by your staff that we should be entitled to compensation. We’re still awaiting confirmation on this. They also mentioned that mould stains are to be expected in a vehicles in Cairns. This experience was both disappointing and unacceptable, not just due to the condition of the vehicle, but the lack of support we received during the hire. We sincerely hope JUCY takes this feedback seriously. We will not be hiring from JUCY again unless there is a clear improvement in vehicle maintenance, hygiene, and customer care.

Too stressful to enjoy our holiday

The vehicles available are in a shocking and unsafe condition. We had to change vehicle halfway through our trip and only receives a measly sum in compensation. We have since been charged for an AA call out with a dead battery. The battery had to be replaced two days after this callout. The mechanic, upon seeing the battery, highlighted that this was in fact the wrong battery for the vehicle! Please avoid!

A Near-Death Experience – Do NOT Rent from JUCY

We put our trust in JUCY when we hired a campervan for a winter trip through New Zealand, expecting a roadworthy vehicle that could handle the harsh seasonal conditions. What we got instead was a complete disaster that nearly cost us our lives. From day one, the van proved to be dangerously unfit for the road. We lost control multiple times on straight, de-iced roads — and it wasn’t just us. A local road worker pulled us aside to tell us flat out: this vehicle should never have been on the road. That’s not just disappointing — that’s criminal negligence. The mechanical and structural issues were endless: The roof leaked, soaking our bed and sleeping gear. The hose for draining grey water was broken, leaving us stuck with stagnant waste. The shower was completely non-functional. Worst of all: there was a GAS LEAK. That’s not just an inconvenience — that’s a serious, potentially deadly hazard. This wasn’t just a bad experience. It ruined our trip. We had no choice but to cut it short and return home early after what can only be described as a near-death experience. JUCY’s negligence, lack of maintenance, and disregard for customer safety is unacceptable. Do not trust JUCY with your safety or your holiday. They clearly do not inspect or care for their vehicles properly. This company is an absolute disgrace and should be held accountable before someone actually dies.

Overall avoid!

Pros - Cheapest big company van rental (but you get what you pay for), staff are friendly, with the extra insurance check out and in very easy and quick (in hindsight too quick didn't really tell us how to make the bed etc), they paid for a replacement gasmate bbq when ours broke, you can stand up in the van Cons - very poor build quality and space lay-out. The van is massive but they utilise the space so so poorly. No clothes storage. No bin. Gas BBQ is in a box you have to take out every time (unlike other vans we have rented where its just a pull out draw. Bed is a massive massive faff to make everything. It involves removing a 3 part table and then rearranging loads of cushions before putting a sheet on. Again other vans just utilise the space way way better!

Great time

Enjoyed our Jucy Car, wasn't too bad a price. Speakers on left hand side of car didn't work, but it's hard to know what to point out because always scared they will charge you for things you haven't done!

Good car. Rubbish service at Auckland

We were given a car that needed to be tested half way through our trip. These things happen but it was very badly dealt with by Auckland but redeemed by excellent service in Wellington.

Coastal Cruising

We were super stoked with the very reasonable price of our hire car and considering we were all under 21 (20) they are (as I know of) the only company that hires to green p drivers. We drove to numerous places in south Queensland and then down to Byron bay. The size of the car was great, comfortably fitting four passengers, two of which were tall men. It was an extremely fuel efficient little car so the fuel cost us next to nothing, making our whole trip quite affordable. Jucy also kindly allowed us to return the car after hours, at a time that was different to our original booking. :) The only downsides to our experience was that the car was a triptronic, (manual and auto) and it was a little difficult to drive for two of our passengers, however that was okay as the other two of us drove. Also the left rear passenger door could not be opened from the inside as if it was child locked and we didn't know how to fix it, when we had noticed and notified Jucy they were very apologetic and did offer for us to get it fixed, but we chose to ignore the issue and finish our holiday :) The little car also struggled greatly in the hilly portions of Queensland, but that is to be expected with a small car. Overall we were quite pleased with our experience and we will definitely be considering Jucy for our next hire car needs!! :)

Great vehicle, best customer service EVER

We hired both a car and a condo while in NZ. Both surpassed expectations, and the customer service was superb. Help at hand via phone was friendly and responsive always. All other Jucy van drivers waved at us like family- fun. Highly reccomend this business.

Good way to see NZ

My sister and I hired a Jucy Chaser in October 2016 and travelled from Auckland to Queenstown, via the Interisland Ferry. This was our first time using a campervan and Jucy. Unfortunately our experience did not get off to a great start as we could not get in contact with Jucy from Auckland airport at all. Jucy states they have a free shuttle bus to their depot, and free number to ring on, but each time we rang no one answered. Eventually we were able to find the shuttle pick up point at the airport and hitch a ride with another couple that had got in contact with Jucy. The great thing about having a fully self-contained vehicle is that no matter where you are, you always have a bathroom and a fridge to store food in. That was awesome! However, when we used the cooker - which was only once - we had to leave the door open for ventilation and ended up with a whole lot of bugs in the van. We decided to use the holiday parks facilities instead. Our van was well maintained and very clean, but could have done with some extra storage - above the TV and over the back door, using those plastic/ mesh pockets. It also needed some ladders and hand-holds to get up to/ down from the top bed. There was nothing to help climb up/ down with, which is quite unsafe and very awkward. Also, when we first tried to fill up the grey water tank, we realised that the hose which came with the van did not have the correct connection on the end to be able to attach to the tap at the dump/ refill station. We had to buy a hose connection for this out of our own money. Overall, our trip in NZ was great. It is an amazing country to visit. The van was a good price to hire and reasonably economical. Petrol prices in New Zealand are astronomical, so that didn't help, but that certainly isn't Jucy's fault. The van comes fully stocked with kitchen appliances, linen, four towels, and a small heater/ fan, which was very useful in the cold conditions at Mt Cook and Queenstown. I don't know if I'd go with Jucy again, but I guess you never know if you don't try it. All I can say is it was definitely an interesting experience.

Excellent campervan experience

We had a great experience with Jucy, from initial booking to dropping off the van. The customer service in both Cairns and Brisbane was excellent, and the car perfect for the whole 2 week trip. I'd highly recommend Jucy based on our experience with them.

Great service from Jucy

Best one way fee in the market. Smart little Huyundai did its job very well. Got us from Sydney to Brisbane easily. Staff at both offices were really helpful. Shuttle transfers smooth and easy.
