Good way to see NZ
My sister and I hired a Jucy Chaser in October 2016 and travelled from Auckland to Queenstown, via the Interisland Ferry. This was our first time using a campervan and Jucy. Unfortunately our experience did not get off to a great start as we could not get in contact with Jucy from Auckland airport at all. Jucy states they have a free shuttle bus to their depot, and free number to ring on, but each time we rang no one answered. Eventually we were able to find the shuttle pick up point at the airport and hitch a ride with another couple that had got in contact with Jucy. The great thing about having a fully self-contained vehicle is that no matter where you are, you always have a bathroom and a fridge to store food in. That was awesome! However, when we used the cooker - which was only once - we had to leave the door open for ventilation and ended up with a whole lot of bugs in the van. We decided to use the holiday parks facilities instead. Our van was well maintained and very clean, but could have done with some extra storage - above the TV and over the back door, using those plastic/ mesh pockets. It also needed some ladders and hand-holds to get up to/ down from the top bed. There was nothing to help climb up/ down with, which is quite unsafe and very awkward. Also, when we first tried to fill up the grey water tank, we realised that the hose which came with the van did not have the correct connection on the end to be able to attach to the tap at the dump/ refill station. We had to buy a hose connection for this out of our own money. Overall, our trip in NZ was great. It is an amazing country to visit. The van was a good price to hire and reasonably economical. Petrol prices in New Zealand are astronomical, so that didn't help, but that certainly isn't Jucy's fault. The van comes fully stocked with kitchen appliances, linen, four towels, and a small heater/ fan, which was very useful in the cold conditions at Mt Cook and Queenstown. I don't know if I'd go with Jucy again, but I guess you never know if you don't try it. All I can say is it was definitely an interesting experience.
