chuffed with how G&M handled my query. Dead easy to sort out.
Ethan was friendly and knowledgeable and, from the outset, he made what could have been a difficult subject (my not wanting to renew) very easy to discuss. He made me almost feel like signng up again!
I had a fantastic experience overall with G&M, right from the initial quote stage through to a recent claim. All my questions were answered by the sales team. They never made me feel rushed or pressured. When it came to making a claim for some physiotherapy, the claims team was extremely helpful and efficient throughout.

I and my family have been members of General & Medical Healthcare for over thirty years. We have always been treated with respect and confidentiality, The system for claiming is relatively simple once you get used to it and claims are handled as quickly as possible. I would recommend this company for your private healthcare needs.
Very friendly and professional staff, who have been a pleasure to deal with. It was easy to set my policy up and they were happy to answer any questions I had and go through everything in detail, which was much appreciated as it was important to me that I fully understood everything. Thank you!
Generally a good and fair company for health care claims. The only improvement I would like to see is a streamlining of the system for getting approval for consultations...having to get a procedure code from the relevant consultant/secretary can often be a pain!
I have held a policy with General and Medical for the last 4 years, in the last year I have used the policy a number of times for various different health issues. The service has been brilliant especially the claims team who have always been available to guide me through the process each time. During a worrying time for me General and Medical really have been excellent!
Pointless - they have had almost £1000 from me in last months and I have been waiting FIVE months for healthcare for my daughter -she would have been seen already on the NHS so this has been a real wast of money for my family. It’s been a terrible saga I have asked for a full refund and to cancel my monthly payments but no one has replied.... I am so stressed and now so out of pocket - I just hope they are decent enough to refund me so I can actually now get my 5 year old daughter the private and now very urgent health care she needs after this terrible wait.
It apparently wasn’t possible to see their detailed policy document including small-print before initiating the PMI policy - which is clearly totally unacceptable - since the small-print is all important when considering a policy which is cheaper than its well established competitors. I therefore set-up the policy with a view to cancelling it during the cooling-off period if I wasn’t happy with the small-print. A couple of days later, once access to the policy document had been granted and I’d reviewed the exclusions in the small-print, I wasn’t happy with it and so I emailed the General & Medical (and the agent who I had used) in order to cancel the policy and associated direct debit. My main concerns (as someone with very many years experience of private medical insurance as a provider of private medical care to insured patients) were: They don’t cover age-related conditions - and so I would be st risk of refusal if I tried to make a claim for something like a benign prostate problem. This exclusion begs the question as to why on earth the policy would costs more for older people. Secondly they don’t cover for problems which following an accident. So if you trip and twist your ankle and have ongoing problems and want to see a specialist - I’m afraid they’ll have wriggle room. Finally the policy I went for had full cancer cover but looking at the small-print this only applies if the treatment is curative - so if the treatment provided a less than 50% chance of cure then it will presumably be turned down. I’m afraid I stopped reading at that point and there may we’ll be more reasons not to go with this policy. The final straw – and the main reason I decided to bother to submit this honest review – was that despite me emailing them and asking them to cancel the direct debit - a couple of days later they set up the DD with my bank and I had to cancel it via my bank before any payments were taken. My advice: (1) don’t buy this policy, (2) if the agent you are using can’t give you a copy of the small print of a policy they are ‘selling’ then find another agent.
