Once aware of the process and access to the online system the complaint was handled very well and I received a fast resolution from Octopus. They had shown no interest in resolving my complaint about refunding my credit balance on transferring my energy account elsewhere. The Ombudsman case definitely made them sit up and deal with it and I received a full refund and compensation for the mistakes made.
Octopus haven't completed their actions in the given time frame and have no date to do so, yet you've closed the case stating that Octopus have completed their actions! I still do not have a working gas metre since Octopus tried and failed to install a smart metre in February, 5 months ago. All I want is a metre that works so I know how much gas we are using and what I should be paying.

Disaster. Do not bother using. Take whatever matter you have to court. They are not a independent Ombudsman but funded by the Utility Companies. Far far too slow. Ofgem needs to step in and stamp out shoddy practices by the Utility Company's.

The Ombudsman broke the impasse between myself and OVO energy who were refusing to carry out their statutory obligation.
He was very helpful but the process is very long winded taking almost 3 months for a very simple case of non compliance by OVO.
The website can be difficult to use if you are using Android, submitting evidence was difficult.
Personally, I think this service wasted my time. We as consumers need a body to really and truly represent us and make those companies that mess up our lives and well being through mental trauma pay us compensation for causing the stress! We don’t need lip service! We have to hit them where it hurts! If they have to pay compensation for their errors and poor service. They would soon provide the best service as they don’t want to be paying out! The Ombudsman service does not get you monetary compensation!!
The service offered by Energy Ombudsman is great at helping to hold energy utility providers to account when they have failed to deliver the service they charge you to provide.
Energy Ombudsman have helped me with two complaints and I found them to be excellent. My case officer did so much work to understand the complexity and provided a fair and unbiased decision. I felt her knowledge and work to be of the highest standard which not only impressed me, but reassured me. I found Energy Ombudsman to be a great asset to us as consumers and would highly recommend using their service if you need to. Fantastic organisation.
