Worthwhile escalation

Once aware of the process and access to the online system the complaint was handled very well and I received a fast resolution from Octopus. They had shown no interest in resolving my complaint about refunding my credit balance on transferring my energy account elsewhere. The Ombudsman case definitely made them sit up and deal with it and I received a full refund and compensation for the mistakes made.

Dishonest

Octopus haven't completed their actions in the given time frame and have no date to do so, yet you've closed the case stating that Octopus have completed their actions! I still do not have a working gas metre since Octopus tried and failed to install a smart metre in February, 5 months ago. All I want is a metre that works so I know how much gas we are using and what I should be paying.

The Ombudsman needs more power to make real changes

Our complaint to the Ombudsman did improve the situation with our energy supplier and lead to a form of resolution, so our situation did improve as a result of the Ombudsman's help. The supplier's service continued to be poor, including their approach to resolving the problems. This left me with the feeling that the Ombudsman does not have enough power to motivate the suppliers to do better.

A SHAM ORGANISATION

A complete waste of my time and my sanity, This is a private company ,little more than a trade association sanctioned by Ofgem and funded by the energy co's to keep consumers genuine complaints at bay & going round in circles whilst they hold on to our money. They will side with the energy companies & cover up the energy company's legal non compliance and our consumer rights.They have no legal power to make the energy companies pay us back what they owe us, their overcharging of customers. I am convinced that Ofgem are sanctioning this 'so called' Energy Ombudsman in order to hide the actual number of faulty smart meters in U.K. I am equally convinced that both organisations are thus enabling the Energy companies to rip off customers with impunity as they are untouchable.

Big thanks to Dawn Colley who dealt with my complaint with British Gas. British Gas had been charging incorrectly after they migrated my account. My account was dealt efficiently in the time scale. I have received correct bills now.

Although my complaint was upheld the ombudsman had no authority to instruct Octopus to credit my account with £2000 which had been offered repeatedly by Octopus in writing and then withdrawn after I had committed to this value of expense to address metering problems

Dont waste your time with them

Did not resolve anything and I have not been paid by EDF even after jumping through all the hoops , they just kept moving the goalposts.
