2nd year tutor has been incredible

Sandra our tutor for year 2 has been so supportive and helpful and brings passion and knowledge in abundance. She shares so much and her feedback is thorough and thoughtful and so helpful. She's been amazing and I'm excited to continue the second half of the year and progress onto year three. Thank you so much to the staff behind the scenes and placements team too for always being ready to answer queries and help where they can.

Chrysalis/tutor

I have been with chrysalis for 2.5 yrs, my 1st year was enjoyable, with a great tutor, my 2nd year not so much, however, on year 3 1st session in January, my current tutor gave me structure, with slideshows & video clips to explain in more depth and giving examples of the different topics, I have thoroughly enjoyed my first 5 modules as I am a visual learner, the guidance given is great by Sarah Jones and she is a real fit for our group, I am looking forward to the rest of my final year with Chrysalis

Great experience!

I have had a great experience training with Chrysalis. The pluralistic content of the course has been very interesting and I believe has put me in good stead for my future as a counsellor. Most beneficial to my experience though is my tutor, Martina. Martina is incredibly knowledgeable, always puts us at ease, fills us with confidence and gives valuable feedback.

A good experience overall

A good experience overall. Very little spport given by tutors and the organisation alike. You have to be very motivated to complete the qualification. Mixed experiences of tutoring and I had to chase up marking on several occasions. Overall good but could be alot better.

All the class members were absolutely lovely extremely supportive we are lucky in that one of our ladies has returned to complete her course so she has steered us in the right direction and helped with contact numbers for all the class enabling us to work our timetable when able to get together with everybody

Not the best start.

Attended three classes so far and don't really enjoy them. You download notes, read them beforehand and bring to class. Now this isn't the problem. The part I don't like and find a waste of my time is in the class the teacher stands at the front and just reads the notes back to you. Basically you do all you learning before attending the class. The second half of the class is "skills practice" with very little direction given. I swapped from CPCAB to chrysalis only cause it suited my job better. The instructions for the monthly assignments are very poor especially if you aren't used to writing assignments (I'm a mature student). Very little support on the format they require. Basically the teacher tells you to look on moddle and read (endless) uploads. The support to enrol also wasn't great. Overall I feel the company is more interested in getting money (& a lot of it!) from you. Definitely a lack of empathy for different learning styles. In hindsight I wish I hadn't swapped and rather changed my job hours. If you are used to actually being taught in class and the structure of CPCAB I would not recommend moving to this course. I hope it improves, otherwise it's going to be a very long two years (3 if you don't do direct entry). If I could get a refund, I would. I would recommend you do a lot of research before putting your money into this.

A great first class with a wonderfully engaging tutor. Lots of good information given and I really enjoyed it, looking forward to the next one! My only negative was it was very difficult to find the room we were being taught in and despite being told parking on site was free it must be in particular places only as I received a parking ticket.

Great beginning of a journey

In the beginning of October I had my first class with Chrysalis. The room was big and spacious, so there was enough area for everyone. The atmosphere was friendly, teacher and other students seemed very kind, helpful and supportive. The knowledge was delivered in simple to understand way, teacher focused more on practical skills rather than theoretical definitions. I'm looking forward to the next class.

Only had my first session which was great, after a bit of difficulty finding the room. I do feel that the space is a bit small for the amount of people, especially during Covid times and should have permanent ventilation. Also a little disappointed in that there are no desks for us to work from, having a bad neck this doesn’t help having to write and read notes from my lap. Surprised that for the cost of the course we have to print off all our own class notes too so I’ve had to go out and buy a printer, paper and folder to keep it all in. Already on a tight budget this was slightly annoying. I am looking forward to the year ahead and everyone seemed very friendly in the group.
