I've been a Barclays customer for 42years and have been relatively happy with their service until recently. I recently travelled 30mimutes to my nearest branch (my local one was closed down). I wanted to open a first bank account for my daughter. I waited patiently in a queue for ten minutes to be told that I'd need to make an appointment and that nobody could help me that day. Needless to say I went a few doors down to Metro bank, who were a thousand times more welcoming and who opened a new account for my daughter within twenty minutes. Disappointing customer service from Barclays and disappointing that you're becoming increasing inaccessible to your loyal customers.

The bank failed to include my supplied payment reference for a transfer, so it was rejected by the receiver. They then failed to identify the fault 5 days later on the phone. They notified me of their error 13 days after the event.
Absolute worst Bank ever to exist in Britain. They have closed my account for no reason whatsoever. They can’t give me an explanation. I’ve just sent money into my account so I can pay some bills. My account has been working absolutely fine and now they’ve closed it now I don’t know what to do. They are no help whatsoever so instead of clos now, I’ve got no money. I can’t wait.account they should close this branch down altogether…….. it just seems to be they’re closing all white people’s accounts and keeping all foreign accounts open

Be very careful with Barclays, has they can stop transfer of payments from your account via this app without explanation and Block the app for flagged payments And then NOT follow normal procedure of contacting you within 4hrs, leaving you in a problematic situation of being unable to make payments and even unaware of the issue And still not tell you how to avoid in the future. yet still allow third party transactions through your account. So SCAMMERS OR FRAUDSTERS can still take your money. barclays considers your money theirs, and they allow you to have access to it , if they want to with no explanation. And the complaint manager says quote" you agreed to it in the terms and conditions that we can stop payments with No prior notification" she couldnt understand" Post Notification " as in afterwards letting me know as stated in procedure. to which she says a unknown person stopped that. And we dont explain why.
If I could give a zero rating I would. My reasonable request was denied and it as clear that it was because the "computer said no". I have no idea what details he put into his computer to get that response.

The service I recieved, the persistent contact from barclay to make sure I was not a fraud case, polite and professional bank assistant good service.
Barclays contacted me regarding a payment that had been taken from my account that was thought to be suspicious. I followed the text instructions and called a number they’d given me and then things were most straightforward and the matter was resolved. A firm that I had dealt with had without my permission taken money from my account under the guise of an ongoing subscription which I had not authorised. Thanks to Barclays I was ‘saved’ from this suspicious transaction. This is the second time Barclays Fraud department has assisted me for which I am most grateful. I have been a customer of Barclays since 1971.

Trying to pay in a cheque for my Aunt who is 92, I have LPA. The online banking access I have does not have the feature to pay in, I cannot use the App because I'm not the account holder. I've asked Barclays for a paying in slip and envelope as suggested by them, they will not post it out to me, I have to go into a branch, very awkward to do, because they have to verify me yet again. I've already given them everything when I got LPA :- passport, driving licence, utility bills, face to face meeting, DOB, inside leg measurement, place of birth, occupation, spouses details, employee details etc etc . They flatly refuse to send 2 bits of paper to my home address. This is to PAY IN money TO Barclays. Absolute disgrace from a completely useless organisation. Anyone who continues to bank with Barclays must be totally insane. The worst of the worst of all damn financial institutions. My response to the Barclays reply :- Do you really think I believe a real person called Kate has responded to my comments? More like an AI bot looking at key words. Proven by the fact it clearly shows my initial comments have not been read or understood, as I've already had to navigate the contact us link to get to the point of ringing you, which took up 45 mins of my time. Listen to the recorded call!! I've fulfilled all your security criteria, included the call itself, yet you deliberately put more barriers up to be awkward, gross incompetence in my book. A blank deposit form and an envelope with your address on is not a security threat. Imbeciles telling me to go to a branch, and grovel for two bits of paper, to then take it to the Post Office and submit the envelope with the cheque in it. What part of CUSTOMER service do you not understand? You're a disgrace to the financial sector.
