Review summary

The Tree Center receives a mix of positive and negative feedback from customers. Many reviewers praise the quality of the trees, noting that they arrive in great condition and are well-packaged, with some expressing satisfaction with the quick delivery and easy ordering process. Consumers appreciate the variety of healthy plants available, often highlighting their beautiful appearance. However, a significant number of complaints focus on the quality of the trees received, with some customers reporting that the trees were smaller than expected or arrived misshapen. Additionally, issues with customer service and warranty claims are frequently mentioned, with several reviewers feeling misled about the products and their costs. Overall, while many customers enjoy their purchases, concerns about product quality and service persist.

Beware please!

Beware please! These trees are far less quality and mature than you can get at a local nursery for the same cost. Their '5 gallon' trees are smaller than any 3 gallon tree I have ever bought. They will also add a subscription by default and you need to ensure you look under the order total for a note that they will bill on a recurring basis later. No refunds! This is the most scammy group of folks I have dealt with in a long time.

Don’t buy the warranty or better yet don’t buy anything from them

I will also be submitting a complaint with the BBB, as this is not an accredited BBB business, and the deceptive practices they are pulling, are flat out deceptive, misleading, and not in the consumers best interest. A tree, plant, shrub, are expensive, and when you live in specific zones, most reputable nurseries, will not ship to a zone during winter. I live in zone 7, and although, weather conditions can change, I found myself in this dilemma with this company. I order 3 trees on 11/20/25, and the weather changed drastically, and so I notified this company on 11/21/25, that I wanted the trees sent in Spring, not wanting to take the chance of losing them. I was not contacted back until 11/24/25 by Rave in customer service, that my options were this: 1. They couldnt pull-back the order, so just refuse them, and have them returned. 2. Or accept them. Mind you, the order had not shipped. It did not ship until 11/25/25 at 12:21. It took your company, 3 days to respond, then, you say refuse them. I opted to accept them, because I did not want trees to die. Also, knowing full well they could have pulled the order back, I believe was untruthful based on what UPS said. They were in a truck back east for 4 days in brutal temps. A total of 8 days all together, hitting, below 10 in spots. It is winter here, Tree Center you cant pull an order back because its the right thing to do, nope, because, they don't opt to do the right thing. I get the trees 12/2/25, and there are no warming blanket/cloth, in the box, the buckets they are in are smashed, dirt is everywhere, and they are completely frozen. This is why I asked a day after I placed the order to hold it, but no, you were lazy, and didn't want to do the right thing. I take pictures and contact them immediately, and yes, I am dealing with Kallie, the same person another person mentions in their review. Kallie asks for pictures, then she wants a scratch test of the bark, which I provide, however this could have been avoided if you had pulled the order back. The whole point is we wouldn’t be in this situation in the first place because they don’t want to do the right thing. The trees are still alive, however, there is no accountability for the lack of warming cloth, the trees are mangled, no leaves, frozen. Is that what I signed up for? No, Kallie, it isn't, you are responsible for it, because customers like me, now will not buy from you anymore, because you say in your email and warranty, if the tree is not planted in 30 days of receiving, it doesnt matter that you bought a warranty, because, The Tree Center, wont pay the claim. A warranty is useless, tell me, Kallie, how do you plant a tree in frozen ground in the middle of winter Kallie? You can’t, and if you were real experts about trees and other things of that nature that you sell, you would understand that you can’t do that nor does the USDA recommend that. Your warranty is a fraud. But like I said in my email, I will file the complaints with all the proper agencies against your company, and should the trees in the ground that I bought from your company die you will in fact, reimburse them or you will be dealing with a civil action. What you’re trying to do here is criminal, unethical, and flat out gross. I will not be buying from you again. I will not recommend people to you and I hope that this review is viewed by anybody and everybody that considers buying from you. Terrible service, terrible, and your warranty, a joke!

Useless support. Don't bother buying the warranty as they won't uphold their end

I purchased an olive tree to be an indoor plant as I live in zone 5a. While I knew it couldn't live outdoors as it's too cold, I have many indoor plants that are finicky, but I purchased the extra warranty just in case. Within weeks I noticed it's decline, but I decided to hold out as that can often happen but they generally bounce back. In this case it did not. It's completely dead. When it arrived the root ball was soaked, and I suspect that didn't help. I submitted a ticket and received a response from a Kallie, who essentially informed me that the Warranty is voided as the plant is not in the 'indoors plant category', and was kept in a container beyond the thirtieth day after delivery. They recommended not purchasing the Warranty in the future. A real slap in the face. They offered 20% off on the next one (even though their black Friday sales are offering more). I will never purchase from The Tree Center again, and will make sure everyone knows.

Satisfied customer once again.

My order was received and shipped very promptly. The order arrived as described on website. The trees that I ordered looked very healthy and packed very carefully to avoid any damage before arriving. I have ordered more than once from The Tree Center and have been pleasantly satisfied with each order. I will continue to refer the company and definitely will order again soon.

My maple arrived misshapen and I would have to pay to ship the huge box back for a refund

My maple arrived misshapen. It was not damaged, but pruned into an "obtuse triangle" shape, with the main lead cut so it would never grow from there; only the leads to the side would grow, making it lopsided. The base of the tree was wonky. It never should have been shipped out. I would attach pictures but can't. I emailed the Tree Center to tell them how bad the tree was and to ask how to return it; I sent them a picture. They said I could return it but would have to pay shipping, which would have been expensive due to the size of the box. I called the 1-800 number to talk to a person directly, she stated that all customer service requests must be handled via email so there is a record of the communication. I said you could just record the call, but whatever, I complied and sent an email asking for escalation to management. The manager, 'Rave,' stated that the tree appeared healthy and the only option for a refund was for me to pay to return it. I replied that I would be disputing it with my credit card as well as reporting to the BBB. You can't send me a misshapen tree, essentially defective merchandise since I was expecting a normal tree, and then be like, too bad, you now have to pay to return it. If I had changed my mind, that policy makes sense. But sending me a defective tree and then making me pay to return it is not okay. So I asked 'Rave' to escalate it even higher. Since I had only 7 days to initiate a return, I stated I would drop the dispute with my credit card company if they would refund me all but $50 [my total was $180, $30 of which was shipping cost which never would have been refunded anyway]. She got permission from the owner to do that. I replied okay, that I still felt they should refund in full. I settle with this because of I only had 7 days to make resolution before fully out of luck. This was all unacceptable. A waste of time, energy, money, etc. I do not recommend ordering from them - at least nothing that would be expensive to ship back.

Terrible customer service

Terrible customer service. UPS failed to deliver a tree for no excused reason 2days in a row. Then wanted to sit on a truck all weekend. I informed the company and said because it is so delayed I will return to sender but would love to still receive the tree and even purchase some bushes. Tree center said sure! Sorry ups is giving you problems here is 60% refund have a nice day! They didn’t try to replace the item or make it right. They robbed me 40% (I will dispute it with cc company of course) for “delivery fees” when ups literally failed to deliver it days on days in a row! Terrible company

I’m a rookie

I’m a rookie. Thanks for helping me get started. The standard berry tree arrived first then a few days later the second selection . The only problem so far has been delivery by UPS and planting. Both pots were sadly split top to bottom on all sides. Perhaps that was purposeful? I did worry about getting them in the ground as quickly as possible. Frost welcomed the first tree on its first day in the yard and I kept the second that was a night time delivery plant, in its partially opened box for a day to avoid the second frost 2 days later. Both are now planted and better prepared to settle in just ahead of the early first freeze.Fingers crossed. I’m hoping to find a local nurseryman to guide me through maintenance. Wish you had a magic book of green thumb contacts in the Nashville/Franklin TN area.

This place is a scam

This place is a scam, the same tree for $20 at home depot costs $167 here. Then there is no refund, just store credit and you need to pay for the return. Also the tree you get will look nothing like the picture. This place is a fraud and deceives people. Stay away!

Very disappointed

Very disappointed, American Maple had damaged leaves (possible insect issue), Top of main trunk had been lopped off. Orangeola Japanese Maple was grafted at the top, so we only received three very spindly branches of the Orangeola Maple with a trunk that is totally the wrong colour at the bottom and style. I did query with company and sent photos and got told all was good. AND I got caught with the monthly subscription which I know I did not ask for.
