Tandem - Language Exchange

My experience with Tandem after a few months. It's a great idea to learn languages and get to know people from all over the world, but unfortunately there's a lack of realisation. Most of the men who write to me are 99% of Arabic origin. They don't really want to learn a language, they want quick sex dating. Although I clearly state in my profile that I don't want to meet men here, that I'm not looking for a partner and that Tandem is not Tinder, they don't mind at all. They all write in their profile that English is their mother tongue, they can barely speak it and they come from Arabic-speaking countries. Lots of fakes with fake profile pictures and false information. They lie and try to get your WhatsApp number and personal information. They also like to send you their penises and mastrubation videos. Unfortunately, there are also psychos who are quick to take offence if you suspect that they have a fake profile. They become verbally aggressive. On the positive side, the moderators are quick to intervene if there are complaints. Conclusion: unfortunately I paid for the Pro version, I'll keep the app for as long as I can, but I hardly communicate on it.

I waited over a month for verification, I contacted Tandem support after a week. Why is it taking so long? I received a reply that it might be a mistake and that I should create a new account - that's what I did. I waited two weeks to verify my account and it finally happened. The total waiting time for an account is two months.

I have learnt about new cultures and new way of lifestyle from people all over the world

Tandem connects you with people who speak the language you’re learning. Not only is that a great way to practice that language, but it’s also a fantastic way to learn about that culture! The pro version has great features like unlimited translation and the ability to see those around you who speak your target language. Overall, it’s an incredible app that has changed my life!

Tandem is an amazing app where you can learn and your language skills. Tandem is the best tool you could get. I paid for the premium service and I would do it again because I can practice and connect with the world. Congratulations tandem team.

I love the app and made very good friends that helped me a lot with language skills. The only thing I would like to suggest is that we can have a “search” bottom to find a specific conversation we had with someone.

The idea is good, I like it because you have the freedom to meet real people, I don't like their system, which has much better in terms of security and privacy options

I’ve been using tandem since 2017, I have to say that is an excellent tool to improve your writing and communication skills. It looks like a social media but with a linguistic focus! You meet incredible people while you’re working on your language objectives. Btw thanks to tandem I got 2 of my best friends here! Germany and Dominican Republic !

I have met many interesting people on Tandem and doing language exchanges with them has helped my Greek a lot!
