Obwohl ich mein Talkpalkonto gelöscht habe, haben sie trotzdem den Betrag für das Premium-Abo abgebucht. Jetzt habe ich für das Premium-Abo bezahlt, das ich nicht nutzen kann. Ich war nur auf der Website registriert und hatte keine App. Auf der Website steht, dass das Löschen des Kontos automatisch das Abo beendet. Dies ist jedoch nicht der Fall. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, ob ich eine Antwort vom Kundenservice bekommen werde. Allerdings werde ich meine Debitkarte blockieren.

It worked well for about a month
It worked well for about a month. Then one day, no matter what I said, it was captured as if I had said "subtítulos realizados por la comunidad de amara.org" and the ai started talking to me about subtitling videos. I reported it to support and got an email back that developers are working on it. It was never fixed. It's a good idea but not ready for primetime.

As a language teacher myself I must say…
As a language teacher myself I must say this is a very impressive ressource. All the modes are very cleverly done. One room for development is the range of accents. It’s weird to speak with Dickens or the Bronte sisters when they have an American accent or sound too young. Some of the feedback is wrong.

Might as well just use ChatGPT
It’s a good idea but it needs a couple of things. First it’s only a web page and not an app. And you have to know enough Greek or whatever language to be able to write into it. So you will use the translator outside the app. It should guide you in writing sentences. And if you write very simple sentences then it should respond with very simple sentences. As it is you could just use ChatGPT and not this as you can already talk to ChatGPT.

I’m really impressed
I subscribed to TalkPal, because like others, I think it is a genuinely new and really helpful tool for language learning. However, I had trouble being able to get it to converse in my chosen language. It kept defaulting to english. I sent multiple emails, and was on the verge of cancelling when they sent me an email saying there would be a relaunch in several days. So I waited, and I’m so glad I did. I’m sure rolling out a new app like this is a huge challenge. But I am grateful to whomever it was who sent me the message to just wait several days, because I like it quite well! One tiny problem (why I didn’t give 5 stars) is that the app is supposed to catch and correct errors made by the user (that’s part of the learning). This gets most of the errors, but not all. Nor does it offer improved ways to say something. The corrections are quite literal usually (but not always). I am so impressed by what the developers were able to do just in the short time I waited for the corrected update, that I believe they are still in the learning process themselves, and I will be thrilled to come back and update this review with 5 stars. Even as it is, it’s the best “robot teacher” I’ve ever seen. I’m sticking with you guys for now. I’m having fun and learning, and still sitting with my mouth hanging open from the shock of what a machine can do. It won’t (and shouldn’t) replace human contact, but it sure imitates it surprisingly well. 👍 Last minute edit: it doesn’t seem to be working on my ipad. Hope that’s temporary. Here's an edit to my earlier edit. It still does not work on my ipad, but they have just released an update with more features and all I can say is, this program just gets better and better! Boy is it fun! I love it. Even without the ipad. Works great on my non-Apple laptop.

Language suddenly "not availlable"
While searching for the language you want to learn you enter a page specific for that language, then after payment you are asked to select your prefered language. The language i wanted to learn was not there. However you can select it as a setting in the chat application. So i canceld my subscription because the option was not clearly visable. The website needs more information on the concept and what to expect.
