Rentokil brought filthy, contaminated traps into my home, covered in unknown green and black substances and old nut butter. The lack of cleanliness was appalling, especially since Rentokil is fully aware that rat droppings can carry diseases and pose potential airborne health risks to humans. While placing these used traps around my house, with old nut butter, the technician also mentioned that Rentokil wasn’t allowed to use nut butter due to allergies, which contradicted their own rules. The technician then scheduled the 2nd visit just over a week after the 1st, despite knowing that rats need 2-3 weeks to adjust. This rushed approach demonstrated a lack of professionalism.
After the 2nd visit and without any real technical guidance, I was frustrated and had my builder come around, who instantly found the source of the problem. Consequently, I cancelled further visits with Rentokil. When I challenged the costs charged for this interesting experience, they referred to it as front-loading and sourcing products, which I assume meant removing used traps from other existing properties, possibly disposing of the rodents on route and bringing those traps directly to my property in the same state as they definitely weren’t new or in anyway clean!
Even after the contract ended, I was left to remove and dispose of the rancid traps myself. Despite repeatedly emailing their head office, who initially ignored my follow-ups, and the CEO, who also seemed to disregard my emails, no one had the decency to apologise in writing. This highlights their blatant disregard for both customer service and cleanliness. Their primary focus seemed to be charging me an extortionate amount for this dreadful experience and purposely ignoring me when I challenged the costs.
The overall experience was extremely disappointing and frustrating. I would never use them again.
