Planet Fitness Stamford Harborview - Poor Communication and Unprofessional Service

I have been a long-term member of Planet Fitness Stamford (Harborview), CT, and I am extremely disappointed by how a simple and reasonable request was handled regarding the gym closure for renovations. Timeline of Events: No Notification of Closure: The club was closed for renovation from late September through early November 2025. I received no email or notification regarding this closure. I discovered the closure only when I arrived at the gym in late September or early October and saw a note on the door stating the club would reopen in October. Initial Inquiry and Assurance: In late October, I called the club to ask about the reopening date. A staff member informed me the renovation was delayed until November and assured me I could request a refund or credit once the gym reopened. She even noted this on my account. Multiple Attempts to Contact the Manager: After the gym reopened, I visited the front desk to request my refund. I was told I must call the club manager, Tiffany, at a number that required a transfer. My first call reached a staff member who said the manager was unavailable and asked me to call another day. Interaction with the Manager (Nov 25, 2025): When I finally reached Tiffany: She refused to issue a refund, stating a membership credit might be possible but only if I came in person for verification, despite having my profile and photo visible on her screen. She insisted that an email about the closure had been sent, which I never received and later confirmed did not exist. She could not verify me over the phone, which felt unreasonable given that all identifying information had already been provided. Retaliation After Feedback (Nov 26, 2025): After leaving honest feedback through the automated survey, I visited the gym in person. Tiffany informed me that only her supervisor could now handle the matter, refused to provide contact information, and told me I would need to wait 1-2 weeks to be contacted with no clear next steps. This approach felt dismissive, unhelpful, and inconsistent with the stated customer service standards of Planet Fitness. Summary: My request was straightforward: a refund or credit for two months during which I could not use the gym due to renovations about which I was never properly notified. Instead, I experienced inconsistent information, dismissive behavior, delays, and unprofessional treatment following honest feedback. Impact: This experience has been extremely frustrating and disappointing as a loyal, long-term member. It is unacceptable that a major fitness chain would handle a simple refund request in such an obstructive and unprofessional manner. Desired Resolution: Refund or membership credit for the months when the gym was closed. Clear contact with district/regional leadership to escalate and resolve the matter. Review and improvement of customer service and escalation procedures at this location. Actions Taken (for transparency): To ensure this issue is properly reviewed, I have taken the following steps and am currently awaiting responses: 1. Submitted a formal written complaint to Planet Fitness' Head of Customer Experience. 2. Filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). 3. Filed a consumer complaint with the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection. I am sharing this information so that other members who may face similar situations understand their options and can protect their rights.

I have a major safety issue and have…

I have a major safety issue and have communicated to my home club and tried to get to corporate level with no luck even making contact. Every weekend lately, three weeks or so, I have noticed there are no employees anywhere. I'm in the gym from about 10pm to midnight and NOBODY was at the desk or anywhere. I stood at the desk one night and called as the phone rang and rang and rang. I am unable to use my full membership as I cant get into the hydromassage as I do every other day that I'm there. There are also people coming and going from outside the building to the locker/bath room without scanning in or even looking like they are doing anything gym related. One of which is a guy who sleeps in his van in front of the gym (prime parking spots). He does this and also leaves his generator plugged in inside the gym and honestly unsure if hes a member or not. But regardless. The place is also typically disgustingly dirty and there is broken equipment that has stayed unrepaired for months. The showers and locker room are some of the most dirty and replsive I've seen anywhere. I've held a PF membership for the better part of 15 years or more. I will likely cancel unless this is addressed and I am personally followed up with. The cherry on top, last night was one of those nights and a dude is shirtless, flexing and working out. I could care less what the self absorbed clowns do, but with staff this kind of thing isnt happening at Planet Fitness. Shame on you.

I recently started going to Woodstock…

I recently started going to Woodstock planet fitness and it seems like a abandoned club. For six months the temporarily not working equipment numbers increasing and none has been fixed in this time. Even the water tao is broken for a week or so and they don’t fix any equipment and workers can’t answer anything. I would give it negative stars

Unprofessional

They are randomly closed, currently my home gym has been closed for over 3 weeks due to a remodel. They don’t say when they will reopen, yet still collecting monthly dues. Seriously, steer clear of PF (Battle Creek, Mi).

Terrible customer service

I signed up 1 dollar down and $15 per month at the club in Elk Grove IL. Then I got charged $49. I immediately canceled the plan within an hour of that charge. I called many times to the club and asked for a refund. They said it was in the fine print. Is such a scam. I didn't even go there once because I canceled it right away. I talked to a manager, and she agreed to escalate it to her higher up boss. Since I didn't go there and I canceled it within one hour, I would assume they would give me the money back if they were a good company. I have never heard back even though I have called there many times and sent emails. Nobody will even call me back. Terrible company with terrible customer service. This point is not about the money, but about the point of being treated poorly. It shows what kind of company they are. This has been going on for ten months. It is very frustrating and upsetting. Still want my forty nine dollars back!

The fact that we have a brand new gym…

The fact that we have a brand new gym and some great workers there makes the experience extra special. Our new Manager, Brad dos a super job. He actually does lots of work around the gym. He’s always troubleshooting problems. We appreciate his commitment to the gym and our members. Our gym is in Plaistow NH. My wife and I have been members of Planet Fitness for two decades. Excellent Gym For The Money

I have been an [on-and-off] member of Planet Fitness for upwards of 12 years. Back then, the entire chain was mismanaged, poorly maintained, and staffed by people who obviously did not want to be there. You never saw anyone cleaning the facilities, and you were never greeted with a friendly smile, or waved goodbye and told to have a nice day when you left. I rejoined Mountain Edge Planet Fitness at 7895 Blue Diamond Rd., Las Vegas, when they opened in 2020. I expected a clean, well-maintained, friendly atmosphere, given their brand-new status. I also expected it to quickly become like most other Planet Fitness locations — not only in the Las Vegas area, but also the ones I have visited throughout the country during my travels — dirty, dingy, and poorly maintained, as most are. Fast forward five years, and this gym looks [almost] as good as it did the first day I rejoined. In fact, because of the change in management at the gym level, it's even better than it was when I first joined 5 years ago. The new staff are more friendly and welcoming than at any other facility I've been a member of. That includes places like LifeTime Fitness Summerlin, L.A. Fitness, and Equinox, both located in Los Angeles, which are literally 6 to 10 times the monthly cost of Planet Fitness. Now, please don't get me wrong — I'm not comparing the LifeTime or other physical facilities to Planet Fitness. I am comparing their cleanliness and staff, which are better at the Blue Diamond gym than at any other Planet Fitness in the entire chain. The Mountain Edge facility is cleaned regularly by all personnel, including the store managers. The equipment is kept up at least as well as the more expensive health clubs, and the bathrooms are sanitized, but the key here is the friendliness of the staff, which starts at the top. A few people deserve much of the credit. First is the manager, Nivek, who could not be any more friendly or pleasant. Second is Brandon, the assistant manager, who is as friendly and accommodating as anyone I've ever met at a health club. Then there are Kaitlyn and Mikaela, whom I no longer see much because my workout schedule doesn't align with theirs. I'm also not great with names, but virtually all the front desk staff at this facility are noteworthy, even if I don't recall their names. This review is long overdue since I rejoined in 2020. If I could offer a higher score of 5 stars, I most certainly would.

They offer no other option to pay other than monthly payments directly from your checking account, I asked management if I could pay for the year in advance to avoid giving out my account information with a credit card for added security because of all the horror stories people have shared about giving out checking information to this organization, for a company to be so limited is ridiculous, there bicycling in the jet age... adapt or go extinct...
