I completed my Certificate in Nail…

I completed my Certificate in Nail Technology and had a mixed experience. The staff are AMAZING and always offer great support. Ellena, the course instructor offers excellent insight and advice around the realities of being a working Nail Technician. My issues are with the platform itself and the out of date education being provided (which is NOT the fault of Open Colleges) and the lack of emphasis of WHERE nail products are manufactured for higher safety. For example: 1. Having to upload a 8-10 minute recording, in mp4 format, that is under 470mb is ridiculous. (It says 500mb but anything over 470-480 won’t work) 2. The overwhelming typos and confusing sentence structure is absolutely unprofessional to say the least 3. The constant going on about nail polish when MOST NAIL TECHS DO NOT USE this is out of date (again not the fault of OC) 4. The lack of actual education around Nail Art is disappointing given the reality of today’s working Nail Tech and what we are expected to be able to do/create Overall, the staff are fantastic but the platform itself? Definitely needs to be improved.

Lots of room for improvement

the reading materials were often set for the American context rather than Australian and often full of typos. Navigating around the modules when doing assignments was clunky. Assessment tasks included menial activities that were time consuming but not a reasonable test of skill or knowledge (eg 'write an email to explain your findings'). Requirement for role plays wih multiple actors was a burden on family.

Highly Recommend

One of the great services of Open Colleges was having quick access to a teacher and get feedback within an hour. The times when the teacher was away they would contact me via email or phone when back at work. This service made learning blockages minimal and thus made studying easy and enjoyable. The mini video lectures, quizes and written material was straightforward to understand and the assignments were all applicable to practical accounting work. A few months after finishing my Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping I obtained a full-time accounting job. A big reason for this was the quality of the course from Open Colleges was of a high standard and the assistance from teachers was excellent. Highly recommend Open Colleges

A Catastrophic Experience with Open Colleges

I cannot express how deeply disappointed and frustrated I am with Open Colleges. The entire experience was far from satisfactory, and my patience has been stretched thin. One of the main issues that led to this review was my request for cancellation. Despite multiple attempts, their administrative department failed to action my request in a timely and appropriate manner. This left me in a situation where I had no choice but to dispute the issue. However, the dispute resolution process was incredibly unfair and unethical. The process was opaque and frustrating, and there seemed to be no concern about reaching a fair and equitable solution. Instead, they engaged with Arma Group, who added to the tension by threatening legal action and making incessant and harassing phone calls. The customer service was also significantly lacking. I attempted to reach their complaints department numerous times but was met with silence. No one was willing to speak to me over the phone, leaving me feeling like I was banging my head against a wall. Instead, they hid behind their keyboards, sending cold, impersonal responses that did nothing to alleviate the situation or address my concerns. Their lack of understanding regarding the concepts of 'fair' and 'reasonable' is alarming, to say the least. I felt unheard and disrespected as a customer and left questioning the integrity of Open Colleges. I cannot in good conscience recommend Open Colleges to anyone. The lack of effective communication, poor dispute resolution, and unethical practices have left me with a bitter taste. I hope this review serves as a caution to potential customers who value their time, peace of mind, and the quality of the service they are paying for.

Sandra Rafaela Soria Savon E 1123

Sandra Rafaela Soria Savon E 1123 this is my student number. At Open Colleges, the email provided by student support never responds to any concerns, I reaffirm my previous comment that for me it has a very poor rating in terms of quality and attention to students.

Zero Stars: Stay Away at All Costs!

This course is not recommended for enrolment under any circumstances. If it were possible to provide zero stars, I would have. Open Colleges is a SCAM that lacks essential support services and provides inadequate and erroneous study materials. Requests for assistance go unanswered, and assignments take several months to grade, as evidenced by my assessments sent on 8 Feb 2023 that are still ungraded. The course content consists of poorly constructed sentences interspersed with outdated links to third-party blogs and YouTube videos. In addition, I have repeatedly received inaccurate information from the training and support team and have gone several months without a response to my concerns. Furthermore, the mid-course upgrade to the training platform has resulted in a complete downgrade. Do yourself a favour and enrol anywhere other than OpenColleges.

I started a diploma of Social media…

I started a diploma of Social media marketing since 2021 which was totalled to $5669. They gave me a cooling period time to cancel my course if I didn't want to continue with it. I paid about $600 so far. Then during the cooling period I've contacted. them to cancel so Which they said they did. After a while I've been getting emails from my old email account which I no longer used. It was saying they've sent the remaining amount I needed to pay to the debt collection agency. I'm so mad because I've tried contacting them earlier But no response to anything. I called the debt collection and they've said that I needed to pay whatever amount was due on payment instalments $50 a week. now I'm $5000 in debt for a stupid course I've already cancelled and don't know what to do anymore. Please help

Changed my course without ANY prior…

Changed my course without ANY prior information and I had completed 78% of the course. I started with my study at the end of January this year. A week ago, they informed me that they were changing the course and that all the work 78% of the course!!! Was now void and I would have to start again after the change occurred. Very unhappy. Payed $3,000 for this course and they’ve messed me around. Awaiting their response to me about continuing the course with the new material, BUT getting a refund of the money for the 78% of the course I have already completed that apparently is useless to me now. I have submitted this same review elsewhere, hoping to get responses and get it sorted. I no longer want to continue my course and will put up hell for them if they do not refund my course with damages - I took time off etc to do this course when I could have been earning money. I have read their agreements and policies front to back and highlighted the parts that they promise to provide and HAVE NOT. So they’re in for a world of trouble with me if they don’t legally comply with what I am requesting.

Refund impossible

I cancelled my course due to personal reasons on Feb 9th 2023. I was told by the cancellations officer a month later I would receive a part refund within 14 days. After several attempts of supplying the information requested to receive the refund, multiple phone calls where I was left on hold for close to 2 hours which unswered, unanswered emails, I have never received this refund. I will now be making an official complaint to DESE.

zero stars

The colleges assessment return times are months, not the advertised 10 business days. The old online platform was outdated, the new online learning platform doesn't function properly. The student support is extremely unhelpful, they mostly do not even reply to emails and if they do they do so with extreme delays and unhelpful replies. So many more problems with it! This college is a disgrace, never again.
