Punitive cancellation charges. On disposing of a vehicle I will not be replacing, and needing to cancel the insurance, I have ended up paying very nearly the same for only 4 months of cover as if I had paid for the whole year.

I spoke to Er1(Ebony) today about a mistake on my new policy that is starting tomorrow. She helped me sort the problem out in a very professional manner and was a pleasure to talk to. My only gripe was the 45 minutes on hold to get through but it was a Monday and it is usually a high call volume day after the weekend.
My husband's car insurance was due for renewal and due to an upcoming large operation for cancer, we decided to do a price comparison and make the change well in advance so it was one less thing to think about. We chose One Call as the price was reasonable and they seem to have good reviews. We paid the full amount for the year about 3-4 weeks in advance. Unfortunately, 4 days before the actual renewal date and 6 days before his operation, he was involved in a non-fault car accident which has written his car off. As he will now be unable to drive for at least 8 weeks and has no idea when he can physically go out and get a replacement car, we decided that it would be wise to cancel his insurance as it would be no use. We got in touch via the online chat and despite the full explanation and unusual circumstances they did not waive any of the £49.99 set-up charge. And despite this excessive charge being for admin fees for what is largely an automated system, 2 days later, we have still received no email confirmation of the refund, no payment into our bank account and no indication of when that will be. We do understand rules and had every intention of probably being fair and going back to One Call once everything has been sorted. However, when profit takes over from compassion things are seriously wrong. Instead we will show our loyalty to Tesco Insurance, who despite knowing that we were leaving (to save a few pounds) have been the ultimate professionals so far and are dealing with the claim quickly, efficiently and with empathy and understanding about our situation.
Do not use these fraudulent liars .. Believe me
One call added an extra £38 just after my cooling off period I still cancelled immediately as I felt this was a complete con they also charged an overpriced cancellation fee a very costly 3week payment was taken they also set up a subscription on my bank account so I cancelled my bank card on the advice from my bank thankfully I found a much better car insurance with better benefits so happy ending and lucky escape just make sure you check everything before going a head as they will come back on you for more money and added fees !!!
Took a while to find a phone number. But when I did I spoke to erika, EK2, who was very helpful and pleasant. I always prefer to speak to someone rather than use the website/portal Please keep your phone lines operating, there are a lot of people like myself that don't like using the website.

Got a message from one call stating that they were increasing premium by £40… this happened on a Saturday.. no access to respond by mail. No phone call access to speak to advisor and live chat not available!!! Unstatisfactory way to conduct business.. would have cancelled policy with these additional charges?? Ver poor

Despite multiple attempts to cancel insurance Auto Renewal they make it near impossible to do so. Multiple menus to get to right place Questionnaire Chat window that takes ages Then told on wrong chat Another chat window After waiting got through to Steve who didn’t reply. If using this company ensure you do not have auto renewal
