I had a work trip to Romania, and I thought I'd rent a car since public transportation is not that easy.
I rented a Toyota CHR 5 door, with additional insurance. I got a warm welcome to the rental after a swift pickup from the airport, after calling the service number.
At the rental I got told that the Toyota had been involved in an accident, and I had the ability to choose from two other cars. I picked the Renault Arkana. Asked for the deposit and got told this is € 950,- and got told, since I'm fully insured, I would get this money back, also, and completely from the insurance company in case of an incident. All good, and I am on my way on my 4 day trip. All seemed ok, the car was clean, had some small paint damages on the outside.
When returning the car I got told my deposit would return to me after they checked the car, I was brought to the airport and did not expect anything else than a return of my deposit. 30 days later, still nothing and I got a little curious and decided to contact CarJet.
After explaining my case I got told that I had bought a Loss Deposit Reduction of €950,- and no deposit return is due.
To me, on paper, and in spoken word are two different things. I doublechecked with the tenant a few times to verify this cheaper car had a lower deposit. After consulting CarJet I'm here left with paying over a €1000,- for renting a car for four days, with full insurance and a deposit.
How does that sound?
2 stars because of the politeness of the tenants.
