Extremely disappointed as it has jeopardised my daughter’s chances
My daughter started 1-to-1 online sessions with Explore Learning in October 2023 to prepare for the 11+ exams. Initially, we had four sessions per month at £175, but the progress was painfully slow, covering only one skill per session. We increased to two sessions per week from May 2024 for £255 per month, hoping for better results, but were sorely disappointed. The coverage was appalling. The regular tutor frequently took leaves, leading to frequent changes in cover tutors who were ineffectual: Tutor 1 often provided answers to skip over material. Tutor 2 was fully distracted by her dog, rendering the sessions unfocused. Tutor 3 was disorganized and didn’t check if my daughter understood the topics, just wanted to get over it. Tutor 4 was inexperienced as it was her first session and was unsure how to proceed. Sessions were consistently plagued by lateness and early finishes, and the Explore Learning portal is virtually useless. Despite my request to eliminate cover tutors and increase sessions to three times a week, the office refused to offer additional sessions. With the summer holidays exacerbating the issue and the regular tutor on repeated holidays, my daughter’s preparation for the 11+ exams has been severely compromised. As we approach the exams next week, she remains behind and struggling due to the poor quality of tutoring and inadequate support. Despite paying in advance each month, Explore Learning’s lack of professionalism and responsiveness has jeopardized my daughter’s chances. I am extremely disappointed and would not recommend Explore Learning to anyone.
