AVOID Ecoplex
AVOID Ecoplex. I wish I had never contacted them.
The SEAI inspector has FAILED the solar panel installation that Ecoplex did at my house (installed January 2024, inspected in May), so that blocks me from getting the SEAI grant of €2,100. Ecoplex actually sent out their own “quality control” staff member to pre-inspect the installation before the SEAI inspection, yet it was still failed a few days later, on three separate issues. The SEAI reported this failure to Ecoplex in writing more than 10 days ago but Ecoplex still have not even had the courtesy to contact me to apologise or discuss fixing the issues.
I also had an EV charger installed by Ecoplex at the same time as the solar panels, but I have been unable to obtain that grant too, due to Ecoplex’s mistakes.
DO NOT PAY THEM IN FULL if you have already signed up with them, until you receive your grant and BER cert. Also make sure you get all the required documentation from them – I still have not even got an operating manual or any warranty paperwork (those documents are SEAI requirements) despite the fact that I have paid them more than €12,000 and have requested these in writing.
UNSAFE: I had three different Ecoplex crews work on my house on three different days. Many of them were clearly inexperienced and/or poorly trained, one young guy actually FELL OFF MY ROOF onto the concrete patio, could have been very serious but thankfully he avoided injury. I had to refuse payment and request multiple times to get them to come back to repair unnecessary damage they did to my roof.
These careless mistakes are not simply due to “a bad crew”, as the Ecoplex boss told me a few weeks ago. The initial sales guy gave me incorrect information, which I only discovered after the installation. Three different installation crews all made mistakes on different days. Their accounts people have made multiple mistakes and regularly not replied to emails or provided requested documentation. They say they have an “SEAI team” to assist with the grants, yet I have not been able to obtain either grant (i.e. not for solar panels or the EV charger) due to their mistakes. They sent out their “quality control” inspector to check my solar panel installation, but then the SEAI inspector failed it on multiple issues only a few days later. At every stage this company has been an absolute disaster.
Read some of the other negative reviews (it’s very easy to filter to 1 and 2 star reviews on TrustPilot), as I am clearly not the only unhappy customer. There are lots of good installers out there that deserve our business - choose another one.
What a waste of time and energy this has become.
